I'm speechless on this.
"Pizza Day" is considered a God given right by all Nuu Yawkaa's, young and old alike! And now some bureaucrat wants to take it away?
Speechless.

Instead of teaching math and english, they’re teaching fascism.

[Pizza Day] is one thing that the kids really look forward to in school. What about looking forward to learning how to read, do arithmetic and so on?

Can’t be a nutrition issue. Nothing wrong with cheese, bread, & tomatoes. Sounds like a balanced meal to me!

Hey, if they can eat what NY’ers call pizza then let them.

Joel Klein needs to get his ass kicked.
It’s a cardinal sin to keep a New Yorker from their pizza.
I think it’s in the NYC charter somewhere. :)

Leftist fascists want to control all aspects of life. We’ve let them become very successful at it. Phone calls to the nazis, anyone?

First they came for the Skittles, but I said nothing, because I didn’t eat Skittles ....
Then they came for the pizza, but I said nothing...
when will it end? And PIZZA and FRUIT JUICE-yecch, obviously soft drinks are already out of bounds. What next from the edu-fascists?

Pizza Day took place once a month, when kids would eat 90 to 100 pies from local shop Pizza Chef instead of their regular lunch. Students needed a parental permission slip and
paid $5 in advance for a slice and a container of fruit juice.Wow that is a pretty stiff price for one slice of pizza.

I was with the kids until I read that it is a PTA fundraiser. I don't support the PTA or it's policies because they don't support homeschoolers or vouchers.
So why would I want children raising money for them?
The PTA doesn't support school choice at all. See: http://www.pta.org/ia_pta_positions_1117831177453.html

Perhaps a bunch of students could show their displeasure by bringing in lunch from home and boycotting the school lunches for a month

...and paid $5 in advance for a slice and a container of fruit juice. That's highway robbery.
