Obama Camp Spitting Mad about Fox News Interview
Ace of Spades ^ | March 17, 2008 | Staff

Posted on 03/17/2008 11:48:44 AM PDT by jdm

Obama's Friday interview by Major Garrett, in which he describes his membership at Trinity United and his connection to Rev. Wright, has been called one of his worst ever. At the time, people were wondering what he could have been thinking, especially given the Democrats on-again-off-again boycott of Fox News.

Melanie Morgan says that as soon as it aired Garrett got an earful:

As I was waiting to go on-the-air, Major Garrett of Fox News was on stand-by to do further reporting on his excellent interview with BHO in which he simply asked a number of questions like: "Did Reverend Wright marry you? Did Reverend Wright baptize your children? How often did you attend church? Did you donate money to the church?"

After that segment aired, Major Garrett's phone started buzzing. He received a call from Obama's campaign, and they were REAMING him over the report. From his end, I heard Garrett say "I have nothing to apologize for."

He repeated that several times, and he amplified by saying that he was merely asking questions that everyone wanted answers to.

That did NOT satisfy Obama's people, and Garrett flushed a couple of times while responding to the invective thrown his way.

Strategically, *I'm not sure why Obama would choose to go only to Fox News with this story, especially because I don't think that anyone ever believed this one would be confined to "conservative" media. So far it looks like every decision he's made about Wright has only made him look worse. Obama himself admits that "my judgment at the time [that he asked Wright to join his campaign] was that this was not as problematic as what I've seen over the last couple of days.

Genius.

Transcript of the interview is here. YouTube video is below the fold.

I thought Garrett did a respectful interview.

My take also. I thought it was boring. Hussein Obama should have been asked more follow-up questions.

I think “Major” Garrett deserves a promotion to “General” for that interview.

He really went after Barack HUSSEIN!! Now he should interview Hillary and nail both of them!

How cool is that! Do the interview in "the small room" and when you don't like what you hear tilt the lever!

I liked the prosecutorial tone. It was clear that Obama was "on the stand." Garrett could have been weaselier, like most reporters, but he knew he had limited time, and couldn't waste time with the Hope and Change rap.

FOXNews does not advertise itself as “conservative”, it’s just called that as a perjorative by the left. Fox has interviewed many RATS and not treated them with kid gloves as the rest of the media does. That’s why RATS are reluctant to appear on Fox. Remember bill clinton’s tantrum?

BTW, keith olberman also calls Fox “Faux News”. Maybe you’re more of an olberman fan?

Just What Did Obama Know About Wright's Past Sermons? (Plenty)

“Barack Obama either agreed with what was preached from the Trinity pulpit, or he tuned it out and stayed around pretending to for political reasons. To say he stayed for 20 years but doesn't agree with Wright's preaching is incredible denial. It'd be like a man buying White Sox season tickets for 20 years, attending the games, and saying he's not a fan.”

Obama’s supporters want us to ignore this story… just push it under the rug. While they’ll align Republicans with any obscure pastor who does or says something controversial, they’re trying to convince us that Obama’s 20-year long close relationship with Wright, including his effective endorsement of him, his church and rhetoric with a $22,500 donation in 2006 is irrelevant.

“When Obama decided against wearing an American flag pin, we may all have been a bit too quick to accept his rationale, too quick to find that issue unimportant. Now, that American flag pin has gotten a lot bigger for a lot of us, especially in light of what may have been and may still be Obama’s deeper, and, perhaps, secret, less than patriotic beliefs about America.”

“Wright says that blacks can’t be expected to sing God Bless America because of racism. Obama doesn’t salute the flag during the National Anthem. That sure strikes me as an amazing coincidence since Obama swears he never heard Wright say anything against America.”

He replied ...”because Obama’s people didn't vet him and now Hillary's going to win.’

No! Obama will win the Dem nomination. How can they repudiate their own left wing cant? But Obama will get blown out in the general election, and the Dems know it. It's over.

I want to know why Major Garrett didn’t ask him some simple follow up questions.

Very limited time. I think the Obama camp allotted him ten minutes, which is why Obama kept trying to slip into his "Audacity to Change Hope" drivel. Garrett did a masterful job of keeping him focused.

Beckel is a thug with anger problems. I remember a brief period when he was pretending to be a “Christian”, after his prostitute/blackmail scandal. He kept telling Ann Coulter he was a Christian and she was not. Lately, he's been back to his thuggish, belligerent self.

“Is it OK to call him Hussein again?”

It’s always been OK, there’re just a few idiots around who were cowed into submission... ;-)

Major got him to “perjure” himself several times.

I especially liked when Obama said that if he had heard those messages “repeated” that he would have left the church.

I guess hearing them one time was worth letting them slide.

I agree with you except that all of the other MSM are so far left, it makes Fox seem centrists.

Something to think about...

Obama's supporters = the O.J. Jury all over again.

With the duped and anointed supporters, obama-llama-ding-dong can do no wrong...
