It's over. Obama is the nominee.
The San Diego Union-Tribune ^ | March 18, 2008 | Chris Reed

Posted on 03/18/2008 11:48:45 AM PDT by 2ndDivisionVet

It was extremely unlikely that Hillary Clinton was going to overcome Barack Obama's lead in delegates, states and total votes and take the Democratic nomination, but Obama's speech this morning -- graceful, thoughtful, nuanced, sweeping, challenging, unprecedented -- pretty much wiped out any chance at all. It was a speech Hillary could never have given -- really, few U.S. politicians ever could have given.

I write this not just because I think this will dampen the Rev. Wright controversy. I write this because Obama did an extraordinary job of presenting himself as the candidate of "the better angels of our nature," to use the phrase from Abraham Lincoln's first inaugural address. His speech isn't just inspirational to millions of voters who are tired of cynicism and division. I think many in the political media will see it as redemptive on personal grounds. Maybe they really aren't spending their careers in swampland.

Which not-so-coincidentally is the name of Time magazine's fine national politics blog.

Hussein Obambi O’Baloney has about as much chance of being elected POTUS as I do.

And incidently, I’d do a better job. There would be a lot of dictators taking dirt naps after I took office.

Clinton Inc. set the trap and Obama stepped in it...now the campaign is about race, says Rush.

This is exactly what the Clintons wanted to see happen. They wanted him to be defined as a black candidate. That was the whole point of the S.C. primary nonsense with Bill comparing him to Jesse Jackson, etc. Other states with big black populations gave Obama big majorities too. This falls right into the Clintons hopes, that he’s just a black candidate. We’re supposed to look to Hillary as the default Dem. choice, apparently, with Obama and his pastor problems. She’s supposed to be a safer choice? She and Bill have so much baggage though...............

This is the same POS reporter from San Diego that constantly ragged on Duncan Hunter as being corrupt. Now we know he had his Obama knee pads on the whole time.

His speech was NOTHING but rhetoric....no uniting. The DEMS want this to go away...it exposes them for who they are...hateful, spiteful people...who see nothing BUT color.

We’re supposed to believe that Obama is going to be elected President, then he’s going to bring about all of this change?

How much change has there been as a result of his tenure in the Senate? All I see are missed and/or skipped votes.

The media is going to spin this as if Rev. Wright never said the things he said. Sheesh!

Funny, I heard all the pundits saying the same thing about Romney's "religion in America" speech. How's his campaign doing these days?

Agreed, it remains relevant that a man who wants to be President donated $22,000 last year to a lunatic racist “pastor” he calls his spirtual adviser.

This should doom him.

but Obama's speech this morning -- graceful, thoughtful, nuanced, sweeping, challenging, unprecedented

And here I found it boring, shallow, divisive, and confusing. The speech was poorly put together and the story at the end made no sense. It almost sounded like the old guy was a pedophile or something.

No doubt about it, Obama could have simply repeated his name 2 or 300 times with a few "to hope is good" and "Change is good" and "it is good to hope for change" etc. and the press would be falling all over themselves describing as the greatest speech in history.

All he really said is "enough about that, let's talk about what I want to talk about." Empty suit socialist.

Obama may not be a Muslim, but he and Pastor Jeremiah Wright will certainly qualify as hipocrites. They will not qualify as Christians, for they do not follow Christ. Jesus color was not of great importance, but he was a Jew, and not a black man as Wright teaches.

Um, Barry not only tried to tell us Wright is off limits, Barry threatened race strife if the topic is pursued. THAT is what Barry leanred at Wright’s hem, hate and threaten and action. Folks, this is goign to be a long and violent summer of race riots and irrational ahtred lived out before the television cameras. Barry hopes it will cause whitey to give up and vote him into office to stop the evil violence now he and men like Wright have fostered. One can only hope that with all the burning the race riots will bring, the democrap party as it now exists to hustle race division gets burned down also. This cancerous hatered in the black community is somethig the democrat party encouraged and which now must be excised for the health of the nation.
