Rush Limbaugh, many talk radio hosts on the right, and many conservatives have only one objective in this election which is to defeat John McCain at any cost. They failed to defeat McCain in the primaries so they are now focusing all their efforts to defeat him in the general elections.
How are they going to achieve their objective?
It is very simple. Work very hard on taking out the weaker democrat in the general elections and in this case it is Barack Obama. Hillary Clinton is a much stronger candidate than Obama in the general elections and she has much better chances of becoming President. Do not believe Limbaugh and his cohorts on radio when they tell you that they are supporting Hillary Clinton over Obama because they want chaos and a fight at the democrat convention next August. They are lying. They do not want a fight, they want Hillary to become the nominee and they want her to defeat McCain.
There will be no fight at the democrat convention in Denver. If things remain as they are now, Hillary Clinton is going to win most if not all of the remaining 10 contests, close the delegate count with Obama, she will lead in the popular vote, and she is going to be the nominee at the convention without any fight or theft. In the general elections Obama supporters will vote for her as if they voting for Obama. From the Bush states in 2004, she will win Ohio, Arkansas, New Mexico, and Iowa. It will be impossible for McCain to make up for the electoral vote losses in these states and Hillary Clinton will become President.
Four more years of the Clintons in the White House, how about eight more years? It seems that Limbaugh, his radio cohorts and many conservatives have missed the Clinton boots kicking their butts and they are willing to defeat us in the war on terror, increase our taxes, take a lot of our freedom, turn us into a socialist state, just to take revenge on John McCain.
nonsense
Hogwash.
That's a crazy theory. Got any PROOF to back it up?
jv,
almost always love your stuff, and your work has gone FAR, FAR above and beyond.
but this is bullfeathers. sorry.
Alrightythen...
Ya sure, you betcha. I have some land for sale in Florida to anybody dumb enough to believe this.
Not if they feel that Hillary stole the nomination from their fair-haired boy. Folks who have been weaned on the politics of victimization will not take kindly to getting so close to the presidency, only to have the Old Superdelegate network steal it from them.
Gee, jveritas, you use to make good sense out of things...
poppycock
How many cups of coffee have you had?
Limbaugh’s stated purpose is to cause strife among democrats. Than can only help McCain (or whomever is nominated at the Republican convention)
This may be the most paranoid idea I have ever seen here on FR. For your sake, I hope the Mods pull this thread.
Let’s bomb Lebanon again, just to take his mind off it.
Rush is unMcCain not antiMcCain, there is a big difference.
I don’t know that that is Rush’s objective.
Rush’s objective is to defeat and destroy Liberalism/socialism.
McCain couldn’t be defeated in the primaries because the fix was in and we really never had a choice.
Yawn

Lots of nuts out there.
I don’t think that is his objective at all. In fact, for weeks he’s been focusing on attacking the Dem candidates. Why would he do that if his objective was to defeat McCain at any cost?
I always enjoy your posts on FR, but this one is way off the mark. Nothing could be further from the truth.
What does this have to do with the cost of oil?

Great because you did it!

Good post. McCain may not be a target so much as Hillary is their savior. Rush will greatly benefit from having her back in the WH.
Did an anvil fall on your head before you typed this?
Stupid logic.
Bologna!
Well, if it’s true Rush just might end up on the losing end this time - and he’ll take conservatism with him. McCain appears to have decided he is better off cutting his losses and not bothering to appeal to the dwindling conservative base rather than risking his popularity among moderates and independents - but if Rush acts along the lines you suggested he’ll just be pouring gasoline on the fire and proving McCain right.
Did you write this in your office at the Republican National Headquarters or on your computer at home?
What a stunning mass of steaming nothingness.
You know,
No offense to FReepers who have legitimate concerns about McCain, but jveritas’ concerns come pretty close to describing, how a number of posters have been acting.
There’s a level of irrational ranting, which goes beyond simple differences.
It borders on true defeatism at times.
Pathetic.
You’re having what’s commonly known as a “brain f—t.” A couple of good belts of Gentleman Jack will help you sort this out.
May I suggest you take your irrational discourse to an organization who might be more inclined to accept such a misguided premise:
I dont see that at all. Rush speaks of the party winning the election, and gloats at the Dims who are in the process of eating their own.
though like myself he is less than enthusiastic about the Republican standard bearer, he concedes that it has to be anyone but Hitlery or Hussein....
Come on man you are way wrong on this.
Wow. Or else this post is 13 days too early.
Limbaugh is mistaken. The support of Obama was always tenuous, the reason he won in VA was I and many Republicans like me (anti-Hillary vote). Hillary did not need Rush’s help, but he will benefit greatly from her victory.
Put down the mouse and back s-l-o-w-l-y away from the keyboard..................
Well, ya know, no matter who gets elected, we’re gonna have a Democrat in the Whitehouse.
Might as well have some fun with them while we can.
And, if the Democrat Party is split and race-riots interrupt the DNC convetion, that would be nice, too.
Rush wants to see the Dims tear themselves apart. Best way to do that is to keep both of them in the race for the nomination, 'keep the soap-opera going'.
Because whoever wins for the Dims will be damaged goods, have little time to garner cash, and even spend more winning the nomination, and depleting those funds for the general.
LOL!
As far as McCain goes, he was NEVER the choice of the base... BUT NO ONE ELSE WAS EITHER. McCain won by getting Independent, cross-over-Dem and Fred Barnes-style, Republican votes. Combine that with the evangelicals deserting conservative candidates for a populist... and you see how we got screwed.
Oh Geez
For a long time, it has been liberalism, characterized by a “party orthodoxy” - whose adherents brook no disagreement.
The party orthodoxy is to be believed. It is defended emotionally, and the slightest challenge to that orthodoxy is grounds for name-calling, and accusations of having joined the opposition.
The only people this poster sees on this board, acting that way, are those who for whatever reason, hate (yes hate) John McCain.
