Crazy. This is a perfect example of how stupid gun control is - if you want protection from the bad guys - GET A GUN! The police cannot prevent you getting killed.

And NEVER register them, either.

Sorry for yelling, but...
A GUN IN THE HAND IS BETTER THAN 911 ON THE PHONE.

Police find gloves, gun near murder scene
COVINA - Police searching for one to three Hispanic males in connection to a deadly Wednesday morning shooting found a gun and pair of gloves near the scene, officials said.

["The woman told the dispatcher someone was trying to break into her home in upscale West Covina, Los Angeles County sheriff's Lt. Dan Rosenberg said.
"Deputies heard gunshots followed by silence and an open phone line," he said.
Deputies arrived at the house, 20 miles east of Los Angeles, a few minutes after Wednesday's late morning call.
The woman, whose name was not released by police, had been shot several times. Paramedics pronounced her dead at the scene."]

When every second is a matter of life or death, the police are only minutes away. However, they never fail to bring a Hazmat team to clean up your blood.

Call 911,
AFTER you have activated .45 cal or 12 Gauge #4 buck.
The very best point and click user interfaces...

One can see the benefit of firing first as a proactive measure hopefully turning away would-be murderous criminals
w/o any bloodshed.

I could imagine same headline, different outcome.
Bang, bang, bang, bang.
Sure you can still send the police but tell them there’s no rush.

In aviation, we instructors have a saying:
When in trouble,
“Aviate, navigate, communicate”
You stay alive, you get on the ground, and you can deal with any infractions or FAA complaints about procedures later
The parallels here are manifold.
Shoot the SOB dead,
then find your way to a phone,
then call.
You stay alive and you can deal with any infractions or FAA complaints about procedure later

I watched a recent store video where the perps kept trying to beat down the office door by jumping at it. The lady behind the door finally shot her revolver, and they ran away as fast as they could. (and they were carrying also).
