Horrible speech, also saying how we have to “listen” to what other countries, democRATs, etc. have to say before acting, and on and on. If he’s elected, how soon before he just hands over the keys to the UN?

It you’re talking about his World Affairs speech, I am in full agreement. He began by talking about how we must do everything in our power to deal with global warming. I’m not sure I can vote for the man. At best, I would have to hold my nose. And if he does win, he only deserves to do so by default.

One of the scariest speeches I’ve heard in awhile. And these are our choices? (Barack Hussein Obama, Hillary or Mr. Let’s Give Away Our Sovereignty McCain?)

McCain sounds like he wants to set up a NWO. I can hardly stand the thought of this next election. I do so most of the time by keeping a sense of humor. After this speech, the wind was taken from my sails.

Where’s the live thread? It’s over. It was long. Nobody cared.
Too bad, because it was pretty scary.
My first shiver came when he talked about international citizenship. I don’t WANT to be an international citizen!

Last minute or so, he dragged out that line about “these are God’s children.” And something I didn’t catch about people who came legally versus people who came here illegally, which bears a second hearing.

Fox televised the whole enchilada. Then the Fox anchor referred to McCain accidentally as “the President.” Heh.

I agree, he's horrendous. Like I said, he only deserves to win by default. And Republicans need to make that clear. And should he win, he needs to be hammered every time he behaves like a demorat. Gone are the days when conservatives look the other way just because he has an (R) next to his name.

Yes, he is dangerous, but not as dangerous as Obama or Hillary. I can’t imagine the stakes being any higher this election. Two socialists vs. a more or less traditional democrat (who happens to have an “R” after his name).

I beg to differ. If he wins, the Demorats will proceed at about half-speed ahead. It’s not much, but it’s something. And we should be shouting and denouncing every “compromise” along the way. No more free passes just because he has an (R) next to his name.

Actually, it only proves he can't count.

The word "collective" was only used twice in the speech, and neither usage was in the Soviet style.

I'm sure you will be delighted to know that "free" or "freedom" was used 13 times and "democratic" or "democracy" was used 20 times.

I don't consider the GOP as being synonymous with the conservative movement (as the Bush Republicans have made abundantly clear). And conservatives will fight back this time around, or I'm a monkey's uncle.

I was preoccupied too, but what I thought I heard...I thought, nah! he couldn't have said THAT.

I should look around for a transcript or maybe a video. It was the last few sentences of his speech. I won't even quote him unless I'm positive he said it; it was that stupid!

Ok, I found a video at cspan.org. At 33:00, he says,

"and then my friends, we would, based on the principle that no one who came here legally or waited legally would have any priority over someone who came here illegally, using that principle, I believe we must address the issue in a humane and compassionate fashion. My friends, these are God's children..."

That, unfortunately, is exactly what I thought I heard. He was speaking rather slowly and he stressed the word "legally" as if he were taking special care to state this correctly. So it doesn't seem to be a misstatement.

If he meant it, he's worse than I thought.

That's what I thought I heard, and I'll never believe that he meant anything otherwise.

Now, I note that the news (sic), including Fox, has not picked it up; even as 'misspeak' it should have raised eyebrows.

Seems McCain has the typical liberals' free pass on things that matter.

2008 will either go down as the year that BOTH parties divorced representative government - or we'll be directed to forget the whole thing.
