US: Saddam paid for lawmakers' Iraq trip

WASHINGTON - Federal prosecutors say Saddam Hussein's intelligence agency secretly financed a trip to Iraq for three U.S. lawmakers during the run-up to the U.S.-led invasion.

An indictment in Detroit accuses Muthanna Al-Hanooti of arranging for three members of Congress to travel to Iraq in October 2002 at the behest of Saddam's regime. Prosecutors say Iraqi intelligence officials paid for the trip through an intermediary.

In exchange, Al-Hanooti allegedly received 2 million barrels of Iraqi oil.

The lawmakers are not mentioned but the dates correspond to a trip by Democratic Reps. Jim McDermott of Washington, David Bonior of Michigan and Mike Thompson of California. There was no indication the three lawmakers knew the trip was underwritten by Saddam.

Well, lookey here.

Seems to me this makes these three congresscritters traitors, and they ought to be treated accordingly.

No surprises for Commie McDermott. He was, is, and remains a true communist and he loved Saddam. He is elected in Seattle, where the statue of a communist stands proudly in the city.

Too bad the President seems to have lost his testicles somewhere in the last four years. Otherwise these treasonous pieces of sh!t would be in the prison cells they so richly deserve.

Bonior retired from Congress several years ago; McDermott is a commie America-hater, so I’m sure his Seattle district is safe for him. Don’t know about Thompson.

How come we all knew it, but the Dems didn't know who was paying for it? Did they think Sean Penn or Michael Moore was financing it?

The term “useful idiot” was invented and spurned with people like McDermott in mind. He’s not very bright and a flaming jackass, thus an easy mark, even for a heinous, murderous criminal such as Saddam.

I want treason charges filed.

Though, this story frosts my butt also, it's pretty hard to bring up these three ass clowns on treason charges since they didn't know who funded the trip.

Congress certainly can have an investigation since the "seriousness of the charges" warrant it.

Hey why not, it's the standard they use for pubbies

"Obviously we didn't know it at the time," McDermott spokesman Michael DeCesare said Wednesday. "

There should be an investigation into how they reported this trip on their office accounts. I'd be interested to know if they submitted vouchers for reimbursement for a trip paid for by Saddam. How do you take a trip overseas, supposedly on official US Congressional business, and not know how it is being paid for? Lying sacks of $hit!
