Sheriff Arpaio protestors become afraid for their safety
ABC-15 ^ | 29 March 2008 | Christina Boomer

On Friday, Sheriff Joe Arpaio’s crime suppression operation ended earlier than normal after a passionate display by both supporters and protestors got tense.

Two people were arrested. A Hispanic man was charged with disorderly conduct. Also charged was a white man who showed up to the demonstration with a loaded shotgun.

Chants, music, and swearing quickly escalated into intense stand-offs. At one point a fight nearly broke out with both sides alleging that the other side was throwing water bottles and trash across a row of barricades that separated them.

Protest organizers were so worried for the safety of the people congregated that they asked them to go home. Once the protestors left, Sheriff Joe Arpaio supporters also cleared the area. Shortly after that, deputies packed up and drove away.

As for the Operation itself, MCSO says it arrested more than 30 people. Of them, 16 are believed to have entered the country illegally. MCSO says, of those, one was from Honduras, one was Guatemalan, one from The Federated States of Micronesia, an Island of Guam, and the rest were Mexican Nationals.

Also charged was a white man who showed up to the demonstration with a loaded shotgun.

Since the article didn't identify the white man as being an Arpaio supporter, I will assume he was a supporter of the illegals.

Regarding the sign:

Yes, we are all created equal. But when one chooses to break the law, that perswon is no longer an "equal" but is now living outside of the law.

This article differentiates between white people and hispanics.

Hispanics are from Spain, a European country...it is populated by...gasp....white people. In fact, the whitest part of Europe that I have been in other than Russia was the Spanish coastal town of Barcelona!

The writer of this drivel must have no more than a 3rd grade education.

I thought we all were created equal.

Yes, you were. In your own country. If you are here illegally then you are less than a U.S. citizen and DO NOT get the same rights as we do.

Arpaio is driving the illegal aliens in Arizona crazy. They want to run Maricopa County and Joe isn’t letting them do it. The Rodent Party is rejoicing about the increased Rodent voter registration in this state. The problem is, Arpaio keeps sending the new Rodent voters back home to South and Central America where they came from. Go Joe!

Yes, and Guamanians are born American citizens. I think they mean that the peson came from “States of Micronesia” a different entity encompassing some other islands. I don’t think all Micronesians are born American, but I could be wrong.

Micronesia is independent. It is in the same area as Guam but is NOT part of it. It used to be a US administered territory from WW2.

Hispanics are from Spain, a European country

Under many if not most US government definitions, people from Spain are not considered Hispanic. But Alberto Fujimori, the former president of Peru, is.

Government definitions make no sense. A good friend of mine is Hispanic. He has a son and daughter. If both marry "white" people, the son's children will be Hispanic, and the daughter's won't. Makes no sense at all.

the whitest part of Europe that I have been in other than Russia was the Spanish coastal town of Barcelona!

Barcelona is in Catalonia. While it's part of Spain, that is not for lack of trying on the part of Catalans. They fought many wars to try to break free of Spain, as the Portugese succceded in doing.

...one from The Federated States of Micronesia...

I think they are referring to Saipan, Tinian, etc.

You gotta admit it's a longer swim than just across the Rio Grande.
