The socialism of the GW fraud might or might not affect poor ole John. It reminds me of trying to understand just what he means on economic theory too. But, perhaps he will actually realize that the sciene is not , not in cement for this nonsense. Perhaps he will then turn to TR’s progressive conservation ideas. Now that would play well in flyover country. Parks, heritage preserves, even some EPA understandings might just persuade ole John not to go down the ACORN, Green Party, and violent tree climbers et al.
“The ease with which McCain became a dupe of the global warming hoaxers is a primary reason I consider the man unfit to serve as President. I mean, how stupid can you get?”
John McCain has been long enamored with financial instrument scams. Remember, he was one of the Keating 5.
Which is what makes him so dangerous.
“Credits?” Looks like McCain has been hanging out a bit too much with AG. From the article:
The bill would also establish a “cap and trade” market in carbon emissions. Companies that exceeded their required emissions reductions could “sell” their leftover allowances to other companies, allowing them to meet their goals. The overall cap in emissions would be gradually tightened.
McCain touts cap-and-trade programs as the best way to reduce emissions overall. He rejects a simple tax on carbon emissions, an idea favored by many greens.
He also calls for renewed investment in nuclear power, which produces no greenhouse gases. The McCain-Lieberman bill includes an estimated $3.7 billion in subsidies, the money coming from auctioning carbon permits.
I’ve made exactly the same point on this forum more than once. After four years of McCain, the country will, in all likelihood, be farther to the left than if either Hillary or Obama is President. The GOP will fight Hillobama tooth and nail, but neither they nor the Democrats will fight the loony lefty impulses of McCain.
The only reason that a conservative would vote for this POS, is because they are dumb enough to believe this baloney.
Go ahead and vote for him out of fear. You will get what you voted for, and be responsible for it happening.
The GOP is on, NO IT IS, on its way out.
He cannot be this stupid given all the info out there. CANNOT!
"I drank the Gore Cool Aid."
As a side note to AGW concerns, not only was the WTC said to be insured against terrorism, but I know that people started mentioning terrorism provisions in insurance policies after the WTC tragedy. So it's significant, in my opinion, when the insurance companies recognize a phenomena, at least from a statistical perspective.
And speaking of insuring things against statistically recognizable phenomena, please don't read the rest of this post if you like Bermuda Triangle stories.
The thing that killed my acceptance of the possibility that unnatural forces are to blame for the weird things that are alleged to happen at the Bermuda Triangle is not just what somebody said about the Triangle, but who said it. More specifically, a TV documentary about the Triangle killed my interest in the Triangle by noting that Lloyd's of London didn't recognize any statistical differences between ship tragedies associated the Triangle versus other ocean areas. So where there is no money to be made by an insurance company concerning a phenomena as there is with terrorism, then I've got no more time to devote to related issues, Bermuda Triangle documentaries in this case.
Back to AGW, if nobody is aware of any insurance policies containing provisions for AGW, then I'd be further inclined to disregard the scientifically unsubstantiated rants of AGW alarmists. I know that the word insurance doesn't appear on Wikipedia's Carbon credit page.
Carbon creditFinally, I don't do business with Lloyd's of London so my reasoning above may not hold water. So do Freepers know anything about AGW insurance?
For McCain, making a deal is more important than what's in the deal.
Teddy Kennedy explained it all to McCain as he rested his head in Teddy's lap.
Why not? It isn't as if he embodies the base.
“I will clean up the planet,” he told a group of Concord voters. “I will make global warming a priority.”
I am so sick of stupid politicians.
“Senator Lugar has already turned one of his farms into Hard Walnut trees, apparently they are most efficient scrubbers of CO 2. He’s registered them on the Chicago Climate Exchange, just waiting for cap and trade.”
Oh yes, another con-game on the backs of the taxpayers by our heroes, the ruling elite.

Interesting take. I did work in the insurance industry a while back but I am by no means an authority. 911 wasn’t as cut and dry as you may think btw. If I recall correctly, the companies who covered the WTC initially came out and said that the terrorist attack wasn’t an act of war which was supposed to cover such things. They backed off after realizing that the PR damage and government intervention would be worse than the bill. The catch with “global warming” is that practicly everything that could get worse from global warming is already covered by most insurance companies in their standard policies one may choose to have. Flooding, landslide, tornadoes, hurricanes are called “acts of God” and are usually covered in most policies. Now what would change if there is a real change in the environment will be the actuarial tables and how much everyone has to pay for their coverage. But this happens all the time anyway. Try buying insurance down around New Orleans right now. It got WAY more expensive. But you have a good idea.
Similarly, I hope when he sees the economic havoc climate change legislation will bring, he'll come back to earth.
On the other hand, his hero TR established as a legacy the national park system, and I think McCain sees his plan to "clean up the planet"in the same vain.
Of course, I worry that the leader of our country can fail so miserably in evaluating information. Who is influencing him so? That's scary.
It was fantastic news that the EPA director deep-sixed the plan to classify CO2 as a hazard to be regulated. It'll take a while to overturn that. Meanwhile, scientists keep voicing their opposition to man-made climate change. I'm hoping common sense may turn the tide before something idiotic happens.
Your remark concerning "acts of God" with respect to an issue that's supposed to be a consequence of man's folly raises another question.
But before we get to the question, bear in mind that I'm trying to feel out how real AGW is to insurance companies. The question is blunt, but given your experience working for an insurance company, please don't take it personally.
Have you heard of any insurance company trying to weasle out of paying an insurance claim on the basis of AGW?
Given the idea that there are insurance companies who would argue anything to try to get out of paying a claim, if there are no companies who have tried to use AGW as an excuse not to honor a claim, then that's another reason to doubt the reality of AGW, in my opinion.
