Yes, let us never forget the cowardly betrayal of Terri by the men in her family that sat by as she was tortured to death. I for one will never forget them for their extreme act of cowardice.

In the mid-sixties, we visited a gingerbread-type very benign and pleasant house in Germany. We were told at the time of the war it housed handicapped like the Pope's cousin. But not for long... They would go in the door and never be seen again. But it looked so nice sort of like death with dignity. Thread by wagglebee on the Pope and his perspective...

He found out that, as a 14-year-old boy, Joseph Ratzinger had a cousin born with Down Syndrome who was just a couple years younger.

In 1941, German "therapists" arrived at the boy's home and took him away -- possibly telling his parents of the new governmental regulations against mentally disabled children living at home.

Despite pleas from the boy's family, German officials took him away and he very likely became a victim of the genocide that claimed hundreds of thousands of lives during the war.

"This was Joseph Ratzinger's first experience of a murderous philosophy that asserts that some people are disposable," Pursell explains....

Madrid, Apr 11, 2008 / 03:21 pm (CNA).- The Spanish magazine Huellas has published an interview with Sylvie Menard, one of the most renowned oncologists in Europe who for many years was a supporter of euthanasia but several months ago changed her views after she was diagnosed with bone cancer.

Menard told the magazine that she always believed that each person should decide his own fate, but ‘when I became ill, I changed my position radically.”..........

Thanks, Les, for the tip.

.......................................

What greater proof that euthanasia and assisted suicide are elite agenda than the millions that have been poured into the coffers of advocates by the likes of the George Soros and the Tides Foundations to groups such as Compassion and Choices (formerly the Hemlock Society) Initiative 1000 in Washington State already has hundreds of thousands of dollars in campaign funds from large donations from assisted suicide PACs--and that is before the Grand-Canyon deep pockets of former Governor Booth Gardner are slapped on the table to buy his proposed law legalizing assisted suicide in Washington State.

But this is beyond the pale: Australian "Dr. Death" Phillip Nitschke has called for a suicide pill to be made available to troubled teens, he has concocted a "peaceful pill" for people to kill themselves with, and was involved in the assisted suicide death of Nancy Crick, who he claimed was terminally ill from cancer, but was no such thing--a lie he later admitted cheerfully having told, and more recently was involved in the suicide of a depressed woman who was not physically ill. And what is his reward? He is left $5 million to promote euthanasia from a former official. From the story
Leading euthanasia advocate Philip Nitschke says a $ 5 million bequest from former Brisbane lord mayor Clem Jones to promote the legalisation of euthanasia will give the issue greater legitimacy in Australia. Dr Nitschke, director of Exit International, said the donation was "by far the biggest" to the cause in Australia of which he had heard. "We are heartened by the donation," Dr Nitschke said. "Not only the large amount of money, but because it was (given) by someone who commanded a great deal of respect...it will give this issue a degree of legitimacy."
The reason, apparently, was a difficult death of his wife:
"I saw Sylvia suffer the most dreadful agony from disease and illness that destroyed her physically and mentally and caused her to suffer, day after day, not only the pain but also the indignity of being something that could not truly be described as a human being," the will said.

"I do not, of course, criticise the splendid endeavours that the medical fraternity make to preserve the quality of human life, but when that quality falls to a level where life is one of pain and suffering--or when one's mind can no longer function--those self-same medical practitioners should have the right and the responsibility of releasing persons from that torture, misery and indignity."
We have all seen beloved family members suffer. My uncle died of Alzheimer's and it was very difficult for all of us who loved him dearly. But euthanasia is not the answer, it is not the solution, it is not the overcoming of disease and disability. Rather, it is total surrender to them, it is the abandonment of the most vulnerable among us to killing over caring, it is to claim that some human beings have lives not worth living or protecting. And believe me, I have known ill and disabled people who are receiving that very message from society loud and clear.

A lot of people fit into the categories the late Mayor would consign to a killable caste. And his apparent indifference to the utter subversive philosophy of Nitschke and the man's disgraceful past conduct is shameful. If his $5 million obtains what Nitschke has repeatedly and explicitly advocated--death on demand--we will have lost the right to call ourselves a moral society.

But this is beyond the pale: Australian "Dr. Death" Phillip Nitschke has called for a suicide pill to be made available to troubled teens,

Almost without exception, teens are troubled to start with and these monsters want to encourage them to commit suicide over some problem that they probably won't even remember a week later.

Hillary says she is unsure if government should allow euthanasia and assisted suicide. Tells me she sees nothing much wrong with them. She only wants to play both sides.

Hillary also said that people of "good faith" were on both sides of [Schiavo] issue. She is saying that people of good faith are okay with starving an innocent women to death and all the other outrageous linked with the case.

Three unfit persons are running for POTUS. None of them deserve to win.

We are finding a cycle, a spate of living will or advance directive promos. Surging after the Terri atrocity, periodically they return. As a caveat, living wills can be good, can be not quite good. But they are pushed and usually accompanied by media falsehoods about what happened to Terri. This sounds Good but is not great.

Good cited the dismal case of Terry Schiavo, the Florida woman at the center of a national debate who eventually died 13 days after her feeding tube was removed in 2005. Schiavo, 41, had been comatose for about seven years, and her final days were embroiled in painful legal battles between members of her family.

“We have no earthly idea what Ms. Schiavo wanted, and no one ever will,” Good said.............

Living wills all over the place today, including the above post, and now this.

As a result, “fewer families and health care providers will have to struggle with making difficult health care decisions in the absence of guidance from the patient, and health care providers and facilities will be better equipped to address advance health care planning issues before a crisis and be better able to honor patient wishes when the time comes to do so,” she said in a release.....

Living wills and a plan: note, I am offering this all up for discussion and contemplation, not for recommendation...

EL PASO, Texas -- It's hard to forget the story of Terri Schiavo, a brain-damaged Florida woman without a plan for her medical care. As a result, a judge made the decision to either keep her on feeding tubes or pull the tubes and let her die.

"Families go through some agonizing times trying to know what their loved ones want if they haven't had that conversation ahead of time," said Connie Crawford, an Assistant County Attorney.

So the County Attorney's Office along with Thomason Hospital have teamed up to spread the word about letting your family know what you want to do in the worst of situations.......

And this...

MINNEAPOLIS--(BUSINESS WIRE)--A new national survey indicates that Americans are more likely to talk with their children about drug use or sex than with a seriously ill parent about their end-of-life wishes. The survey, completed by more than 2,300 individuals, was conducted in conjunction with the first National Healthcare Decisions Day (NHDD), April 16, 2008.

“The survey highlights the need for more attention to advance care planning, which is why National Healthcare Decisions Day is so important,” said Sandy Schellinger, Director of Allina Palliative Care. “Americans have made such wonderful progress expanding the dialogue about drugs and sex with their children, yet we still struggle when it comes to talking about something that happens to every one of us—dying.” ...........

Wednesday is National Health Care Decisions’ Day, when you’ll be asked to name a relative who would decide on your end of life care if you can’t do it yourself.

Dr. Alveda King, God bless her...

Thread by wagglebee.

ATLANTA, April 14, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Dr. Alveda King, Pastoral Associate of Priests for Life and niece of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr., today said that racism and abortion are linked. Dr. King has, for the past two weeks been involved in commemorative events of the 40th anniversary of the death of her uncle Martin Luther King Jr. the famed leader of the civil rights movement.

"Abortion and racism are both symptoms of a fundamental human error," stated Dr. King. "The error is thinking that when someone stands in the way of our wants, we can justify getting that person out of our lives. Abortion and racism stem from the same poisonous root, selfishness." ....

Thread from wagglebee on the Marx brothers...

GRANTHAM, Pennsylvania, April 14, 2008 (LifeSiteNews.com) - Democratic presidential candidates Hillary Clinton and Barack Obama both tried to downplay their positions on abortion at the Compassion Forum, a nationally televised event at Messiah College on April 13.

During the event, which was intended to provide the opportunity for candidates to discuss how their faith and moral convictions bear on their positions on important issues, both candidates were questioned on religion, evolution and abortion, among other things......

Alan Keyes consistently supported all that was Terri's Legacy. No other candidate for President comes close. Thread by TBP. Thanks, EV, for the ping.

“You’ve convinced me that you are going to help put Hillary Clinton or Barack Obama in the White House.”

This is how a friend of mine tried to wrap up a political discussion last weekend. The circumstances were unusual, even if the comment was not. Usually, you’ll find a lone Keyes backer being numerically outgunned by a bunch of RINOs. In this case, the sole McCain supporter found himself faced with an enthusiastic and well-informed circle of Keyes people......

This thread was a duplicate of a thread I posted over the weekend. When I commented that it was no big deal and didn’t really waste all that much bandwidth compared to say a thread where the same three or four pictures of Bush are posted dozens of times, I was accused of being a leftist, pro-abortion supporter of B.O.

UPDATE RE: THE WOMAN WHO DIED IN MIKEY'S JAIL. The autopsy revealed she died of pneumonia but also had MRSA. It goes to show you can have a ribbon cutting ceremony for a 33 million dollar jail hospital but people will still die from neglect. Her family's suing the Pinellas Cty Jail. This is why we don't see any Mikey posters here. He's in hot water. Dorothy Palinchik, dead of pneumonia and MRSA. It seems to me that the M.E. may have fudged the autopsy to get the sheriff off the hook for the MRSA. If both arms and legs were black with necrotic tissue, I seriously doubt the pneumonia was the key reason's she's dead.

Rest in peace, Dorothy. Sue the pants off of the PSCO! You didn't know you were w/merchants of death and that includes Sheriff Coates who is Mikey's boss.
