3rd-Graders Accused Of Plot To Hurt Teacher (Unbelievable!)

WAYCROSS, Ga. -- As many as nine third-grade students got together and plotted to harm their teacher, even going so far as to bring handcuffs and a knife to school, Waycross police said.

School officials at Center Elementary School, which is located on Dorothy Street in Waycross, said they never imagined that some of the 8- and 9-year-olds boys and girls at the school would think of bringing physical harm to a teacher.

"A plan had been developed amongst several of our third-grade students to allegedly do harm to their teacher," said Theresa Martin, of Ware County Schools.

Martin said the plot was uncovered when one student saw a knife in the backpack of another student.

"It's shocking that they would think of this at their young age. I think that is probably the most shocking part for all of us," Martin said.

In addition to the knife being found, the school officials said other students had duct tape, handcuffs, ribbon and a heavy crystal paperweight.

Thank God they are getting that ‘socialization’ that home schoolers are constantly deprived of.

“I would just like to go on record stating that the entertainment industry has nothing to do with putting thoughts like these into the heads of children. The children just came up with all this on their own.”

Glad to see someone put up a defense for the hollywood deviants. SARC

How cruel. Did you put in a call to the ACLU?

Hmmm...they should make a video game out of this... Although there’s probably one on the market right now because maybe that’s how these kids got the idea.

I had to apologize to the teacher in front of the class.

Public humiliation/embarrassment is a very effective form of discipline when dealing with children. Unfortunately, it is rarely used by parents today.

This makes 1960s America look like a church garden party.

Isn’t this a Georgia Title 1 school?

Tough place to teach...

Probably a bit of both and lack of parental supervision and care.

I’m 24. I grew up on violent everything, including video games. I even own the Soldier of Fortune series, undoubtedly the most gory shoot-em-up ever made. Never contemplated anything of the sort.

And if you play - you see millions of others playing online as well. There are always screwballs, but this recent phenomenon is coupled with parents not raising children properly.

Well...If children ( who have committed no crime) are imprisoned in buildings that look like minimum security prisons, marched around like prisoners, have all their First Amendment Rights crushed like prisoners, have their freedom of conscience abused with state imposed indoctrination,,is it surprising that they plot revenge against their prison guard-like teachers???

I don't think so.

That children so young should attempt this doesn't surprise me. They are not old enough to know that their revolt is hopeless. Their spirit hasn't been broken yet.

By the way, the article stated that the revolt started over one child being punished with time out. Hm?,,,Time out?,,,Gee! That sounds a lot like government imposed solitary confinement to me.

No offense, guys, but I’m not sold on the validity of the charge as of yet.

It’s very easy to get kids to confess to things that never happened.

Before I accept that this happened I want to know:

1) Who questioned the childern?
2) Where were they questioned?
3) Were the parents present?
4) How many denied the story only to acquiesce once the “plot” was presented?
5) How did the interrogators react to children who may have originally denied the allegations?

This story seems far-fetched and I remain skeptical.

30 :-P

I'm thin, but my willingness to pick up a child and use it as a weapon against the other children probably helped my score quite a bit.

Blaming this on videogames is like blaming Columbine on guns.

Parental responsibility.

I do not even know if they were around at that time.
I think if I even mentioned such a thing, I would have switched again.
It was a different time and parents made their kids behave and accept the consequences of their actions. I am surprised you didn't ask why I kicked her.

Well, according to the link on a later thread, this teacher has “students with learning disabilities including attention deficit disorder, delayed development and hyperactivity.” I’m betting there will turn out to be one ring-leader who came up with the whole scenario and a lot of little sheep who wanted to be part of the group.
