PLATTE CITY, Mo. Kansas City officials say they plan to appeal a jury's $2.1 million award to a woman who claimed she was passed over for a city judgeship because she's white.
Clay County assistant prosecutor Melissa Howard claimed in a lawsuit filed in Platte County that Kansas City council members wanted to fill the vacancy with a racial minority. Howard was one of three white women who were finalists for the post vacated by Marcia Walsh in 2006.
City officials deny Howard was discriminated against. City attorney Galen Beaufort said that the state law upon which Howard based her claim does not cover appointed officials like judges.
Then-Mayor Kay Barnes and other officials said in late 2006 that they were disappointed with the lack of racial diversity on the list of finalists.

Well...looks like the chickens have come home...to roost...

FReepmail me to be on, or off, this list.
Question: If a judge gets appointed based on the color of his skin, can he judge defendants based on the color of their skin?
The ramifications of overusing and misapplying the word “diversity” has a way of coming back and biting one on the butt.
typical black racists
Let’s hope it leaves a bite mark the size of a shark.
The problem is that this discrimination was done under the administration of a former LIBERAL mayor,
and the current mayor totally agrees with the plaintiff.
But, the city, as an entity, is going to have to pay for this lawsuit.
Well Shut me little mouth! ! ! ! ! !
Kay Barnes screwed up KC, MO royally. And now she's running for Congress.
Sure hope the people of Missouri are smart enough to learn from KC's mistakes.
All I can say is effin’ ay!
I didn’t see whether the award was the result of a non-jury civil suit or not. Its hard to overturn these kinds of cases. I think the City is toast.
right on bro !
It’s about time. Finally White people are fighting back against the deliberate efforts of the left (most politicians) to disenfranchize them.
The KC City Council would consider Jeremiah Wright far too moderate, concilliatory, and mild mannered for their tastes. They are waging open warfare against the Mayor.
Fat chance. They sent the corrupt Cleaver to the House.
