WASHINGTON, April 6 (UPI) -- U.S. Secretary of State Condoleezza Rice has exhibited interest in becoming John McCain's vice presidential running mate, a Republican strategist says.
Dan Senor revealed during Sunday's edition of ABC's "This Week with George Stephanopoulos" that Rice has been seeking support to be considered for the No. 2 spot on the Republican ticket this fall.
"Condi Rice has been actively, actually in recent weeks, campaigning for this," Senor said.

There must be something to all this...
I’m not sure if that would get me to vote for McCain or not.
She can beat up on Obama real good.
She is not prolife enough.
NO THANKS!
Thanks for the link. This looks hot.
She will do much less damage as a VP as opposed to SecState. Her specialty is Russia though, i think this will be helpful over the next 10 years with the Bear beginning to show its teeth again.
Please let this not be so.
So promote her under the Peter Principle?
“In a Hierarchy Every Employee Tends to Rise to His Level of Incompetence.”
pffffffttttttt
if it is we have lost. I can’t vote for her.
Please don't let that become true!
(Psst...see tagline and do the math.)
Judging from recent posts at FR, 99% here won’t vote Republican regardless.
It wouldn’t matter if Jesus Christ was running as VP.
Not if he was a Republican.
I struggle with a McCain vote, but if he chooses a conservative or even a “recent” conservative like Romney with the right views on the issues important to me, then I will vote McCain. If he chooses a moderate or someone who differs on key issues, I will either leave it blank or write in a name.
Condi Rice represents one of our greatest lost opportunities. She is lovely, accomplished, bright, disiplined. She could have said to the world, not just blacks in America, you can be anything. Drop the race anger thing. But she didn't. What a loss.
Rice has been a terrible Secretary of State. I damn sure wouldn’t vote for her.

Search is your friend!
“I cant vote for her.”
Why not?
Forget it. Rice has been a weak Secretary of State. The only reason to put her on the ticket is as a sop to a voting block that won’t vote for Republicans anyway.
I will vote for Her, Got nothing against Her. I;m voting Republican, It’s just the way God made me. You do what you want

"Condoleeza Rice, for various reasons, is deemed untouchable. She is The One Who Must Be Obeyed and Never Criticized. Nonsense. Her bullying of Israel is only part of it.
But because it is so obviously based on an almost willful incomprehension of Islam, and of why the Arabs and Muslims have been engaged in a relentless campaign against that state, it is worth emphasizing.
Not understanding that no Infidel nation-state can possibly be contemplated by Arab Muslims, and particularly not one that is under the control of the much-despised yahudim (Jews), and that the size of Israel does not matter in the least, Rice keeps promoting, or parroting the idea of, the "two-state solution" (and we know it must be a "solution" because otherwise they would not have called it a "solution," now would they?). She does not understand that the divisions among "Palestinians" are only about means, and tactics, not about ultimate ends.
Rices ignorance is matched only by her incomprehension. She still thinks that territorial "compromise" is the path to peace compromise in this case meaning continued Israeli surrender of territory to which it has a legal, historic and moral claim (including the claims under the League of Nations' Mandate for Palestine, which she really should take the time to read and study. She should then also to read and study about the history of the non-Arabs and non-Muslims in what she seems to think is "the Arab world".
And because Rice does not understand what Islam is all about, she also does not understand that its menace will not be diminished in any way by the creation of a viable nation-state called Iraq. Such a state will not be a "Light Unto the Muslim Nations" and will do nothing to diminish the power of the Islamic jihad imperative.
Yeppers to that!
I still wouldn’t. I understand she can’t get over racism.
she would bring her own certain ‘gravitas’ to the ticket. ;-)
the Republican party is already mooning conservatives with John McCain....would they dis us further by choosing Ms. Rice?????......
....hide and watch...
LOVE IT Go Condi!
Condi is rock solid on 2A issues.
She even recognizes it a a matter of personal defense and has seen her father carry his shotgun for defense.
Israel is a big issue, but until I actually see them give up territory and get nothing at all in return, the jury is out.
I can think of a lot worse choices, and if Hillary manages to stab Obama, we could easily see a big shift in the black vote if we had Condi running.
What slim chance there is that I would vote for McLame would evaporate with Rice as his running mate.
Everyone on here saying that Condi has been a weak Sec of State is a complete moron.
YOU really want our Sec of State running around like it’s the the Wild Wild West?
No.. it’s the Sec of State’s job to try and convice countries to see it our way.
It’s the President’s and our Sec of Defence’s job to lay down the hammer.
Anyone who says anything different has the intellegence of a 2 year old and needs to be ignored.
hehe I was responding to post #7
Is she pro-life at all?
Actually that voting block can’t stand her anyway...because she is a Republican. They refer to people like her as ‘Uncle Toms’.
Her race anger isn’t even a factor for me. No, I don’t want a militant. But, I don’t think she has been horribly obnoxious about it.
Life and Israel. She is pro-choice (which McCain also skirts so I’m not happy there) and has not treated Israel right. Not meeting with Netanyahu is a big mistake. Pushing them to give away more land is bigger.
And I disagree that it is entirely unfeasible; I am with those who think it is the better of two options.
Plus, she was the one who got rid of Rummy.
On the other hand, I'm not too fond of her Israel-Arab approach (tho it's hard to say what it actually is).
I really don’t think she is the answer.
Sigh. Let’s just keep President Bush.
To conservatives, this wouldn’t help McCain. To independents and wishy-squishy moderates as well as right leaning Dems, she might seem OK.
Personally, I hope this doesn’t come to be. Too many Bush ties.

Well, before jumping off the cliff to offer an opinion sure to please few and anger many, I’ll point out that this is polar opposite of what Condi has always said and what others have sworn is true of her. She and others have said she does not aspire to elective office, period. And her dream job is NFL Commissioner.
The VP slot is used for adding something to the ticket. Born in Alabama - Will win that automatically. Lived in CA? - Won't win that no matter what. Black vote - No chance. Clarence Thomas indicates they hate a conservative black more than they hate a conservative white.
i think some of the complaints come from the fact she does not seem to be in control of State and the bureacracy in the first place. There is actually a DoS employee (or former) who posts here who made some excellent points about this some time back.
No thanks.
But why would anyone be under the dellusion that one person would have any control over anything as big Government.
This is not a private corporation where the CEO has the will to enforce everything.
Balance of power is our government for good or for bad. It means that bad people.. ignorant people can infect our policies and decisions.
Well, I can’t vote for her.
This happens...I quite voting for republicans altogether!
