Please. McCain’s just trying to be classy.

... and also engaging in a little activity called "picking your opponent".

The point is not whether it was a technically accurate statement. It was. The point is that McCain gives the MSM fodder for eyebrow-raising headlines on an almost daily basis. A better campaigner would have said, “Any native-born citizen over 35 is constitutionally qualified, but I bring decades of experience...” thereby not giving the enemedia an opportunity to write a headline such as this. Most people will not see the show nor read the entire transcript to put McCain’s statements in context. What they will do is glance at the headline and say, “Huh? Why would he say that?”

McCain hasn’t been in a knock-down, drag-out political campaign in decades, if ever, and it shows. He STILL hasn’t figured out that the press is his enemy, and he needs to tread very, very carefully around them.

Obama is a serious threat to the very existence of our nation as we know it.

We have seen how long it takes to recoup our military strength and regain credibility internationally after recent rat administrations, but the future under an Obama Administration could be even more damaging. And the damage that that p.o.s. Obama could do with a few Supreme Court nominations ...

Think it through, please. Panic and fear is what got McCain where he is right now -- remember when everyone assumed that Hillary would be unbeatable? They were wrong. You assume that in office, Obama would be unstoppable. You are wrong. In the White House, Obama, like Hillary, would have very little real support of Democrats; like Hillary, he would be divisive within his own party and throughout America; like Hillary, he would devastate the Democrat party image and put it in shambles; like Hillary, everything he did, from Supreme Court nominations to actions in foreign policy to global warming, would be questioned and criticized loudly and the few that actually came to fruition would fail and the blame would fall where it belongs -- on Democrats. An Obama or Hillary presidency would benefit Republicans and therefore America in a very big way.

Obama is only "a serious threat to our nation as we know it" in a world where he would have unlimited power and popularity, and chances of that happening are very small. Chances of McCain bringing all the failings and destruction of Hillary or Obama to office are virtually guaranteed; responsibility and accountability for them would belong to the Republican party, and the Republican party would lose so many future voters who become conservative as they get older and wiser, that the Republican party would wither and die.

McCain is absolutely the biggest threat to the very existence not just of the Republican party, but our nation as we know it. Just because he is a Republican doesn't make him the lesser of the evils. Indeed, it is because he is a Republican that he is the greater of the evils that are before us. McCain would guran-damn-teed do more damage to the Republican party and the U.S.A. than either Hillary or Obama could hope to do.

Think it through and RESIST PANIC.

McCain would be FAR less damaging to our military than either of the rats, and his Supreme Court choices would be better than a rat’s choices even if he picked them at random out of a phone book. Plus, if elected McCain will be, in all likelihood, a one-termer. We will have an opportunity to get somebody decent in 2012 if we can only wade through the next four years with minimal damage.

Think it through.

I won’t be voting for McCain, but I surely hope neither Obama nor Hillary wins.
Good Lord, how did we get to this place?

You are exactly correct, McCain may also be proven correct. He is basking in a very positive glow right now. Just maybe the American people will feel comfortable with McCain being polite and presidential. I’ve already noted Obama taking some shots at McCain, and I thought they sounded petty. Also, Obam tends to make pointed comments about the war, but people trust McCain more on that topic. I noted Chris Wallace jumped all over John Kerry on Sunday in defense of McCain. We shall see. BTW McCain also said that he thought he had the better experience and judgment.

McCain is the designated fall guy here...

I think that may have been the original plan, but somehow I think we're going to be stuck with him. Blech.

Voting third party never works. You’ll just end up getting a Rat elected.

You say it never works. The Republicans were in the 1850's a third party. They replaced the Whigs because they believed strongly enough that slavery needed to not spread into the western territories. If we had a third of the passion and courage that the original Republicans had we could not abide with the lack of a conservative running for President. Somehow we were caught off guard but we need to get on our feet and stand for what we believe, but we have a sliver of a window open right now. It will most likely shut very quickly. Thinking that nothing new can happen is just an excuse to not live up to our commitments and our reasonable duty.

Let believe, think and act creatively. The dems won't know what hit them.

I'm voting for McCain for two reasons and two reasons only. One is pork barrel spending. The other is the Supreme Court.

In 2009, 6 SCOTUS justices will be in their 70's. With the senate likely being in the hands of the democrats until 2012 barring a surprise, we're in huge trouble if Clinton or Obama appoints them. They voted against Alito and Roberts.

McCain MIGHT give us good justices. He might not, but at least there is a chance there. Now I didn't vote for him in primary, but I'll take a chance over no chance. Unless Bush can get one more Roberts or Alito clone in to replace a leftist, I'll hold my nose and vote McCain.
