April 6, 2008 -- Hillary Rodham Clinton "misspoke" again on the campaign trail - and a distraught Ohio family is furious about it.
Several times in recent months while talking about her plan for universal health care, Clinton told a tale of woe about a young pregnant woman who sought medical care at a local hospital and was turned away for lack of insurance - and both she and the baby died.
But the family of the 35-year-old woman - Trina Bachtel - says the story is simply not true.
"Trina had good insurance. She was a good girl, and she worked hard. That story made her look like she was a welfare bum," her 80-year-old grandmother May Mayle told The Post yesterday.
Mayle confirmed that Bachtel died last August from complications related to a late-pregnancy miscarriage, but said she was never turned away from a hospital.
"The family is real torn up about it. I can't understand why they'd make her out to look like she was so unstable," said Mayle.
As Clinton told the story during campaign rallies, the young, pregnant woman in difficulty was turned down for treatment because she was uninsured and couldn't pay $100 up front.
She didn't name Bachtel or the hospital involved, but after the Washington Post ran a story identifying her and where she worked - a Pizza Hut in Pomeroy, Ohio - local papers made it front-page news, horrifying her still-grieving family.

What a terrible tragedy for the loss of mom and baby. What a terrible loss for the family. The political whore known as Hillary Diane Rodham Clinton really stepped in it this time. She is shameless beyond description.
When will people realize that virtually EVERYTHING Hillary says is suspect?
Always good to see O'blenness gettin some good publicity.
This Shrillary witch is total scum. Of course the original story was dubious but the Clintonistas wouldn’t want to check it out because it was much too convenient. Now the Hildebeast has once again proved she has the judgment and morals of a reptile while dragging this grieving family through the agony of such a public travesty.
a lie is a lie.....anything that a clinton utters is a lie ~ this includes bj~the piaps~and~even their dogfaced daughter!!!!
Have you seen the original video of the deputy relating the story to Hillary?
He tells her the hospital demanded $100 before treating her. Then he says something like: “She didn’t have $100...they had to bill her a couple of times for it”.
Huh? Why would they be billing her if she was turned away with no treatment?
Anyone else hear this?
CYA?

However, contacted by The Messenger, Holman claimed the hospital he was referring to when he spoke to Clinton wasn’t O’Bleness, nor an affiliate.
Holman said when he spoke to Clinton, he never mentioned the name of the hospital that allegedly denied the woman care, nor did he mention the woman by name.
Holman, a friend of an uncle of the woman, said his understanding from talking to the family is that she initially went to a hospital other than O’Bleness, where she was asked to pay $100, possibly because she owed money.
“The family thinks that whatever hospital she (initially) went to, she had a bill and couldn’t go there,” Holman said. He said he believes the woman went to O’Bleness after she was turned away from that other hospital.
Holman said that other hospital could have been “anywhere in Ohio and West Virginia.”
Holman said his understanding is that the family believed that if the first hospital the woman went to had treated her, something more could have been done for her. He said he did not accuse O’Bleness of any wrongdoing.
On the other hand, Holman said, Clinton is not necessarily lying either. However, he said, he did not think when he told the story to Clinton that it would get so much attention and that he thinks the whole issue has been “overblown.”
Moveon.org, in my humble opinion, was so named because it is the philosophical position of the Clintonistas—”There should be no consequence as a result of my actions. Can’t we just move on?”
Somebody better call Lanny Davis and tell him the story is no longer operational.
He was slamming Fox this morning saying that the Dep. Sheriff told Hillary that it was true and that is good enough for them.
At any rate, I would imagine that a Meigs county deputy sheriff gets paid about the same as a typical Wal-Mart employee. I wouldn't expect a lot of quality in the workforce. Other than the marijauna industry, Meigs county isn't known for a lot of crime anyway. (Pomeroy, Ohio is the Meigs county seat)
I am reading some sites where of course they blame every one but Hillary. She “never named names” they claim.
Puhlease!
