Investor's Business Daily cartoonist and Senior Editor Michael Ramirez won a Pulitzer Prize on Monday, his second win of the nation's most prestigious journalism award and the newspaper's first in its 24-year history.
Ramirez won the 2008 award for a "distinguished cartoon or portfolio of cartoons published during the year, characterized by originality, editorial effectiveness, quality of drawing and pictorial effect."
In awarding Ramirez, the Pulitzer panel lauded his "provocative cartoons that rely on originality, humor and detailed artistry."

Ramirez is on a roll this year.
In March, he won the John Fischetti award for editorial cartooning from the Columbia College Chicago Journalism Department.
That award, chosen from among 171 cartoons by 56 cartoonists, shows what IBD readers already knew: Ramirez's unique style employing equal parts artistic skill, penetrating analysis and biting humor stands out from the crowd.

“Ramirez’s win is the first time since 1998 that a Pulitzer has been given to a cartoonist with even moderately conservative opinions.”
Michael Ramirez is the BEST!
From the Memphis Commercial Appeal to the Los Angeles Times to Investors Business Daily, Michael Ramirez has made op-ed pages worth reading for decades!
Seriously, though. He is simply brilliant. No one can match his hand or outthink his brain.
You might say no one can outthink or out-ink him :-)
Thanks for posting the pic. Didn't know what he looked like. Had only seen his work, not his face.
You are 100% correct.
Seems I can remember when we used to get cartoons here too.
the Courier News (a Gannett pub) in central NJ runs his cartoons. Liberal NJ!
I think it is truly outstanding and remarkable that Ramirez has been recognized in this way. Congratulations to the best political cartoonist extant!
