~Month Of The Military Child~
In 1986, Defense Secretary Caspar Weingberger and the US Department of Defense, designated April as Month of the Military Child. The month is set to be a time for each branch of the military to recognizes the sacrifices which are made by the children of those serving our country. Children of those in the military face separation, frequent moves and school changes, trauma when a parent is in combat, stress, and many other difficulties associated with military life. It is for these reasons that we take the month of April to acknowledge their unwitting sacrifice, and courage.

I Am A Military Child
By the time I will be eighteen I will have lived in many places Experienced so much, And seen so many faces.
But thats okay, I am a military child
I will grow up much quicker, I will grow up so much stronger, I will feel older than my years Although I may be younger.
But that is okay, I am a military child
My mom or dad, I may not see for a year They will miss my birthdays, And be absent to calm my fears.
But that is okay, I am a military child
I am very proud of my parent, The one who has sacrificed so much, I cherish every moment we have together, their love, their laughter, their touch.
Do you see why I feel special? Why I walk around with a smile? It is because I feel so lucky to be a military child.

The Challenge Of Forgiveness
If you forgive men their trespasses, your heavenly Father will also forgive you. Matthew 6:14
In the heat of an argument, my wife came up with an acute theological insight. We were discussing my shortcomings in a rather spirited way when she said, "I think it's pretty amazing that I forgive you for some of the dastardly things you've done!"
What struck me about her comment was its sharp perception into the nature of forgiveness. It is not a sweet platonic ideal to be dispersed in the world like air-freshener sprayed from a can. Forgiveness is achingly difficult, and long after you've forgiven, the wound lives on in memory. Forgiveness is an unnatural act, and my wife was protesting its blatant unfairness.
A story from Genesis captures much the same sentiment. The brothers that Joseph struggled to forgive were the very ones who had bullied him, had cooked up schemes to murder him, had sold him into slavery. Though he went on to triumph over adversity and though with all his heart he now wanted to forgive these brothers, he could not bring himself to that pointnot yet.
I view Genesis 4245 as Joseph's way of saying, "I think it's pretty amazing that I forgive you for the dastardly things you've done!" When grace finally broke through, the sound of Joseph's grief and love echoed through the palace. What was that wail? It was the sound of a man forgiving.

2 Timothy 2:11-13
[It is] a faithful saying: For if we be dead with [him], we shall also live with [him]: If we suffer, we shall also reign with [him]: if we deny [him], he also will deny us: If we believe not, [yet] he abideth faithful: he cannot deny himself.
Reflection
Take heart, O believer, for though you be of weak conscience and unsteady faith, your life is now hidden in Christ Jesus! And where you show weakness, He shows strength! Be comforted in your infirmity and take joy in the awesome power and unyielding faithfulness of the Lord.
