But I thought Obama would try to woo the pro-gun vote. If this is how he’s planning to achieve his plan, I wish him good luck. He will definitely need it.

Obama’s religion is about frustration, bitterness, and hate, and that is what he and leftists like hi m project on to everyone else.

Foolish? There's more to America than New York, Philadelphia and Los Angeles. There's all the spaces in between. The kind people like Obama look down upon with a sense of disguised contempt.

Exactly - I grew up in a small town in PA. Oddly enough, there were firearms in the house long before I was. ;-) Somehow my siblings and I managed to grow up without shooting ourselves or anyone else - imagine that, responsible firearms ownership including formal training classes!

As for religion of bitterness, frustration, hate... Gee, that's not the message we Lutherans get. We get the good news of the Bible, the hope of the resurrection to come, and the everlasting joy. I usually feel great on a Sunday after Church. Unless of course it is football season and the Steelers lose... :-/

I'm a city slicker and I'm not a thief.

A "slicker" is a "slickster", is a "flim-flam man": IOT, by definition a thief & con-artist.

You may very well be "city folk", but I doubt very much that you are a "city slicker".

I’m going to study it tomorrow after I read the Bible, clean my guns, load some ammo in my small Pennsylvania town.

Two things about this jumped out. The “cling to religion” remark - this may say more than we know about Obama’s true “religious faith” (or lack thereof). Second, ironically, his “small town” reference about the “midwest” - well, most small towns, particularly those in the midwest, aren’t founded on manufacturing (which I assume he was referencing) jobs that disappeared. Most are rooted in agriculture, i.e. farming, which is still very much alive. So maybe when he talked about “all the jobs going away” he really meant suburbs of larger, industrial cities, ya think??

Yeah, right. To BHO, obviously small towns are like typical white people - they all look the same.

Obama is positioning himself for the GE. By making such a statement at this point in time, he believes it will take away the issues that McCain might use against him in the campaign. Not that I think McCain would use gun and religious issues against him. Obama wants to quiet his distractors by putting them on a guilt trip for being, what he perceives to be, a bunch of gun loving, religious racists.
Obama is slicker than Slick Willie and much more dangerous to this Country. He must never be allowed to occupy the White House.

I live on the east coast you seem to have so much contempt for. I can step out my door and walk 40+ miles without stepping on pavement or seeing anything but trees, moose, deer, bears, squirrels and coyotes. I’ve been to all but a few states and Canada from coast to coast. So far, that has not made me think that Butthead Hussein Obamalamadingdong is fit to be president.

On behalf of rocks in rural Maine, and rural America, I demand that you withdraw your comparison, and apologize for your insult of Granite-Americans.

Izzy, your post gave me the best laugh of the day. My ribs still hurt. Thank you.

This is verbatim from "What's the Matter With Kansas", and should provide tons of questions for Senator Obama in the general, assuming that he gets that far.

I now fear that he won't make it, though.

He is the dream candidate - for McCain.

McCain--idiot. He will not make anything of this unless he has loosed his keepers from their "Must play nice in the sandbox pledges.".

Agreed, he's an idiot.

Still, the "Napoleon Principle" does apply in this case: "Never interupt an enemy while he's making a mistake".

Obambi may just get his dumb, socialist butt chased out of PA for these comments alone.

We are not “anti-immigrant.” Most of us are immigrants, both recent and centuries ago. We do think, however, that everyone should play by the rules. So, we are against “illegal immigrants.” And we are careful with our words. These are no more “undocumented workers” than a bank robber is an “undocumented borrower.”

That nailed it very well. I am a fifth generation German and had to wonder how hard my ancestors had to work to get here and eventually make a living working the land. Now the illegal immigrants want to come here and get everything handed to them on a silver platter.

We can reach one conclusion from Senator Obama’s remarks. Whatever else he is, or knows in different contexts, when it comes to understanding the people who live in America’s small towns, he is dumb as a box of rocks.

We moved OUT of Austin because of the elite snobs we had to deal with for years. I still work there, but I'd rather live with a bunch of "cedar choppers with guns in their trucks" than the Volvo driving 1960 leftover hippies in Austin.

I live in a small town and a nearby copper smelter closed in this area about 8 years ago.

Bizzare - in a world that is paying about any price for copper? I guess government policies have made it about impossible to produce it in this country, economically, at any price.

Very little copper is produced in the U.S. compared to what we used to produce. Many mines and smelters have shut down in the Southwest, but operations have moved to other countries- Chile, Mexico, etc.

Somewhere in rural Pennsyvania….

“So how’d it go at the unemployment office today, Jim-Bob?”

“I’m so dang frustrated! The government isn’t listening to me! Where’s my dang gun, Shirley?”

“Where it always is, next to the potatoes in the pantry. Can you explain your frustrations, Jim-Bob?”

“Yeah! I’ll explain ‘em! Watch this!”

Blam! Blam! Blam!

“Would you watch out with that thing? There’s another hole in the water heater, and you almost hit the damn parakeet!”

“Well too bad I didn’t hit one ‘a them durn immigrants! They’re all diffrunt from me!”

“Well dear, you know there’s a tent revival tonight, at least that’s something we can cling to.”

“I don’t know Shirley. If only there was some way we could bring about a… a… change in America.”

“Well now that you mention it Jim-Bob, I was watchin the tee-vee over at the hairdressers today, and there was this nice young man on with some kind of funny A-rab soundin’ name. I didn’t understand what he was sayin’, but whatever it was made me feel good inside, like there was hope again.”

“Ohhhh yeah. That negro fellow at the bowlin alley. First time I’ve ever seen a negro at the bowlin’ alley, huh.”

“Well that’s just it. Such an articulate young man. Even though I didn’t understand nothin’, it was like, I felt like I was floatin’ up on a big fluffy cloud, with all the immigrants, and everybody else, even that blockhead brother of yours. And we were all friends, there was this, like, unity.”

“Wow Shirley – that’s great! If only there was someone like that in the central govmint as the President! Someone that would listen to my concerns for a change!”

“Well maybe there can be now, Jim-Bob. Why don’t you put that gun down, and lets eat these beans, before they get cold.”
