Red Skelton's "Pledge of Allegiance" was first introduced on the Red Skelton Show on January 14, 1969.
It has since been twice read into the congressional record of The United States and has received numerous awards.
One of the most eloquent, moving tributes to America, Old Glory, and Pledge of Allegiance to the greatest country ever.

Imagine that: “one nation under God, indivisible, with liberty and justice for all.”
Hope none of the “multicultural” crowd is offeded.
Does Reverend Wright have an opinion?
Does it sound a little “bitter” to Senator Obama?

It is good to see that performance again, I get goose bumps just listening to it.
I watched the Red Skelton show on TV when I was a younger man.

Bitter enough not to wear an American flag on his lapel or place his hand over his chest during the Star Spangled Banner.
It's not like he's the descendant of Blacks enslaved in the South. So what's his beef?

There was a time, long ago, when a gentleman with patriotism and a sense of history, could thrive in prime-time.
39 years of unending leftist assault on our culture has sure taken a toll.

What a terrible turn this country has made from the period when real Americans like Red Skelton was entertaining us.
God how great he was.
There is no comparison between Mr. Skelton and the trash we call entertainers today.

Do they say the pledge in schools anymore? We have two sons, ages 8 and 11. They attend different schools here in Maryland, about an hour and a half from DC, as one of the schools has a better program for our oldest son who is high functioning autistic. Both schools have a recitation of the Pledge each morning.
A few weeks ago we attended a concert at our 8 yr old son's school (third grade class playing the recorder flute) and it started with a request to stand and recite the Pledge. Nothing was cuter to me than seeing my 11 yr old standing next to me with his hand over his heart reciting the Pledge.

Fortunately, the local talk radio station plays Red Skelton’s version of the pledge every weekday morning. I have fond memories of the days of clean, truly funny television entertainment like Red Skelton, Jack Benny, Lucille Ball, Carol Burnett, Jackie Gleason...where have they all gone?

My Dad gave me a recording of this to take in for show and tell in 4th grade. Probably be given a suspension now. It’s amazing how immigrants of my Dad’s generation (born in 1934) were more appeciative of this country than many of the native born.

I have a Red Skelton DVD that has about 7 or 8 of his shows on it. I played it for my grandkids, and they howled laughing. They wanted to watch every single one...of course the oldest is 13 so they’ll probably be too mature to watch that stuff in a couple of years.
But it was fun...Red had a way of roping the viewer in to his “game” — he would look at the audience and wink, or wiggle his eyebrows — they were captivated.
I used to have one of the Danish pianist, can’t remember his name, but it was lost in the move. Could be in a box in the storage shed.
Those guys were really funny.

One of the most eloquent, moving tributes to America, Old Glory, and Pledge of Allegiance I had an audio tape copy many years before the Internet and I listened ocassionally. The the Internet came along and I could send it to the grandchildren as an audio file attached to an email. Now, here is the video. It is my wish that every child hear, and now see, Red Skelton, a true American.

yes, it’s magnificent. Last year Rush played the whole thing on his radio show and I heard it while driving. I feel so lucky to have been raised in such a kinder, simpler and more patriotic time. What’s gonna happen with all the kids (and these brainwashed 18-24 yr. old voters) today who’ll be deciding the fate of our country???

There are some good patriots and conservatives in La-La Land and showbiz, but most of them are too afraid of being blackballed to come out. Some do, though. Last week, Glenn Beck had a long segment with Jon Voigt (reran Fri. night). Tom Selleck, Patricia Heaton, Dennis Miller (love that guy), several whom I’m forgetting right now, many, many country-western stars and of course, the great Charleton Heston.

Of course! Thanks so much. Rob used to call him “Wik-tore Borgee”
He was a good pianist...and a funny man. Older grandkids used to love that video cassett. Like I said, it’s gone now, probably stuck in a box in storage.
