Americans wonder why moderate Muslims don't publicly condemn Islamofascism, terrorism, and the hijacking of their religion by fanatics who use women as suicide bombers and babies as human shields. A question seldom asked is why Americans aren't publicly condemning these atrocities.

The barbarism exhibited by the fanatical faction of Islam is beyond the pale, by any civilized standards. And while America waits for Muslims to step up and condemn these barbarians, we go about our business as usual, condemning instead the unthinkable practice of putting panties on terrorists' heads, and the cruel and unusual punishment of including pork on the menu provided to terrorists incarcerated in Guantanamo.

The irrational hatred of the West by many Muslims is seldom questioned. Instead, a large segment of the American public has taken a cue from them, adopting irrational hatred as a political philosophy. By not condemning irrational hatred, we implicitly endorse it. Just as we implicitly endorse terror tactics by not condemning them.

Throughout history, communities, civilizations and cultures have learned by example. Take the growing number of teen tarts performing non-sex on their boyfriends. Thank-you, Boy Clinton. Take the increasing number of school...

Simply put, from the silence of “moderate” Muslims over the years I've come to the conclusion there are no moderate Muslims. The only apparent difference is their individual willingness to take jihad to its bloody end.

I enjoyed the article except I was distressed she bought into the "hijacking the religion" canard.

Those Muslims who are subjugating killing or converting Infidels are following the religion as written. They are fundamentalists. It is the religion itself that is radical by our standards.

Muslims who are not involved in practicing the fundamentals of the religion won't criticize those who do, because they know the so called terrorists are right.

These Muslim moderate slackers are not yet ready to get Infidel blood on their hands- at least not yet. - Tom

So many people are blind to the real issue:
ISLAM ITSELF IS THE PROBLEM!
Islam has been at war with the West since its very founding. The goal has never changed: complete global domination and death to all unbelievers. The relative quiet for the last 400 years was an anomaly brought about by the West's overwhelmingly superior economic and military might beginning in the Renaissance.
Today however, cheap technology, and ease of transportation have enabled the true believers within islam to wage war on their own without having to galvanize a whole nation's population to go to war. I'm not saying these types aren't supported by muslim governments because they most assuredly are; they are the means to attack the West “on the cheap”. The muslims are also shrewdly using the West's own laws and civil liberties against us by infiltrating our countries and subverting from within.

To those who say I'm generalizing too much when I say that all muslims are the enemy, understand this: If a Christian or a Jew is devout in his faith, almost everyone would agree that man was a “Good” person and friendly. The abuses committed in the name of these religions were committed by their poor adherents.
However, if a muslim is devout to his religion, he must either convert you; kill you; or enslave you. Those are his ONLY choices; there is no concept of peaceful coexistence. If in a position of weakness, muslim may feign friendship with an unbeliever, but only until gaining the strength to conquer.

I'd change your post only slightly -- Islam has been at war with the WORLD since it's founding -- Islam is a civilisational disease that destroyed the great civilisations of Coptic Christian Egypt, Christian Notrh Africa, Syria, Turkey and Iraq and also Zoroastrian Persia/Iran -- it badly affected indian civilisation before the infected portion (Pakistan and Bangaladesh) split off. Islam is at war with everyone -- with Hindus in India and Nepal and Bangaladesh and Paksitan, with Buddhists in Thailand and the statues of Buddha in Afghanistan (of course the Buddhists there were massacred centuries earlier), it is at war with Christians in Indonesia, the Philippines, Russia, Serbia, Croatia, Greece, Cyprus, Ethiopia, Sudan, North Africa.

The west JUST realised (post 9-11), what a disease Islam is -- for years earlier it ignored or even fed that disease (eg. the founding of Saudi Arabia, the appeasement of Pakiland etc.) and is still doing so by supporting Kosovo muslims when they burn down orthodox churches.

Sorry about your misinterpretation of belief. There are no moderate Moslems. In the Islamic worldview, everything is explained in a single text which came directly from God through the final prophet, Mohammed (may we eat pork chops in rememberance of Him). That’s a stark worldview. Either you follow God’s word or you don’t. There isn’t any room for moderation.

The text from God also tells you to kill the unbelievers, that deviation from the faith deserves the death penalty, and anyone leaving the faith should be killed. Again, not beliefs which promote a diversity of approaches.

By the way, the writer, like most Westerners, doesn’t understand that Islam is primarily a political system which uses religion as its foundational principal.

The existence of moderate Muslims has never been established. Anyone following the Koran to the letter cannot be a moderate.

I see a moderate Muslim as a vulture — the predator does the killing, the vulture benefits from the kill without perticipating in the taking of life.

The problem is that what one would probably consider to be moderate Muslims are probably part of the Islamic Liberation Theology, the Muslim version of the Black Liberation Theology.

It's pure Marxism, following the same praxis as the other forms of liberation theology, which use the religious beliefs of the potential followers to organize them behind the Marxist movement.

Tom, I disagree. Like the bible, the Koran can be interpreted in many ways. No-where in the Koran does it sanction the killing of women and children. I sure hope I’m right about there being moderate Muslims out there. If not, we’re in for an epic struggle.

Thanks for posting/writing, Nancy. Very good article.

Reading it’s history the last couple of years, I cannot come to the conclusion that Islam was EVER a great religion.

I can say that it is the greatest anti-truth, anti-freedom, anti-individual, anti-life collective in the history of civilization.

I don't see how the Koran can be interpreted in many ways. It is not like the bible at all. The Koran pounds he message home chapter after chapter.
That is why the fundamentalists can beat the people who want to modify the religion. The Koran is very straight forward.

But just in case you missed the obvious message in the Koran (the word of Allah given to Muhammed by the angels) the Hadiths can clear things up. The Hadiths are the narrations of people who knew Muhammed, they can be used as a guide as to how Muhammed, God's prophet understood the message and practiced the religion.

Muhammed was a deceiver and butcher of Infidels.
Allah never sent a message to Muhammed that he wasn't practicing the religion correctly.

There are no innocent infidels.
When you want to rid a place of God's creations like rats, you kill the small innocent rats also.
As far as killing innocent Muslims while doing in the Infidels, Allah can easily sort that out. - Tom

Nancy, I hate break it to you, but you're wrong. The muslims are not just a bunch of people like us who are misunderstood. Contrary to your assertion, the koran DOES advocate violence against ALL unbelievers. Those women not beautiful enough or children not healthy enough to be made slaves were exhorted to be killed; usually in the most painful manner possible. Have you actually read the koran? I have; its philosophy (and it's clearly NOT divinely-inspired) is not ever going to allow peace. Read post #10.

You're right of course. I tend to think of the modern civilized world (since it embodies most of Western culture and values) to be “The West”.
