I'm not sure if that is a nationwide trend, or just in our own little circles
and you even live in that great metropolis of TEXAS ; )
Yeah, houston does not resemble the rest of Texas at all......
Probably so.
i love when you are all pliable and agreeable like that ; )
I am sure it is only the teenage children of liberals in Blue States that are having sex, getting STD’s and having abortions.
The girls then weren't just aggressive; they were vicious. Serious character defects. Many were acting out; I remember the 70s (especially the early 70s) as full of rage.
I don't think it was just the sex. A lot of these girls might have been imitating the boys in their behavior. Looking back, I couldn't help wondering: where were the fathers?
I was a teenager in the 70’s and we were nothing like the girls of today! I was not sheltered at all, and not a wallflower - but we were no where near as wild as girls are today.
I try to please, besides, I think what you said was true.
If it's any consolation, my wife thinks I'm nuts too. She grew up on military bases where everything was well ordered. She says she knew people like me existed, because she read about us in magazines. Lol.
I think there are still lots of really good kids these days, but do think parenting is getting worse.
Good for you. But many, many people become jaded and literally cannot truly fall in love. This is not an outsider’s observation; this conclusion is based on what people say about themselves.
The exception here and there proves nothing, sorry to say. And would you advise that people risk their emotional future over what you yourself describe as “meaningless” sex?
I wouldn’t. It’s meaningless; skip it. Wait for when it will be meaningful.
Sounds like your point of reference for the 70's was hanging out primarily with the wild bunch that a lot of us referred to as "the easy sluts" and thought they were the norm. Those girls were the fringe -- not the norm. Even in the "free love" era of the 60's and 70's, girls in the mainstream were not nearly as forward and aggressive as they are these days.
Give me a little credit. Had this behavior been limited to a small clique, I would have certainly been aware of it. I'm speaking of what I observed in the mainstream culture around me. There were good girls in school of course, but they were few, far between, and sadly, they were mocked. Now, perhaps the area in which I lived was atypical, but I have no way of knowing what life was really like elsewhere. What I do know is that things weren't radically different in Denver or Boulder, as I spent time in both of those places.
Btw, this would be well past the "free love" era of the late 60's early 70's and well into the heavy metal and punk eras of the late 70's.
