'The Boss' backs Obama for president

Rock superstar Bruce Springsteen on Wednesday endorsed Democratic Senator Barack Obama for US president, saying he stands "head and shoulders above the rest."

In a message posted on his Web site, the musician and songwriter known as the Boss said the Illinois senator has "the depth, the reflectiveness and the resilience" to be the next US president.

"Like most of you, I've been following the campaign and I have now seen and heard enough to know where I stand. Senator Obama, in my view, is head and shoulders above the rest," he wrote.

Many of Springsteen's rousing rock anthems and haunting ballads celebrate working class Americans. His endorsement in the November presidential election comes as Obama fends off charges he is out of touch with working class voters.

The Obama campaign welcomed the endorsement. The America of Springsteen's songs - with its hardworking people and big dreams - is "a story I know and a vision I share for our future, and that's why I'm so honoured to have his support in this journey," Obama said in a statement.

Springsteen is a loon and has been for quite some time.

Bruce’s CD’s should come with ear plugs and a BC powder.

That "young babe" was an actress:

Courteney Cox (later found fame on Friends): "Her first big break, however, was being cast by Brian De Palma in the infamous Bruce Springsteen video "Dancing in The Dark". In 1985"

There is a problem with using propaganda films by propagandists like Leni Riefenstahl to teach young filmmakers how to apply their craft.

And his latest propaganda effort against the Bush administration didn't even take $100,000 at the box office.

He plays a guitar and sings. He is not qualified to endorse anyone for president.

Who cares about Bruce Springsteen’s political views?

I won’t join those who might say “and he has no talent,” because he’s very talented, or, at least, WAS. But so what? As Laura I. would say, shut up and sing, Boss.

He’s good at what he does. I just quit liking what he does about 20 years ago.

Another entertainment moron. They come in many varieties. Bruce Springsteen has not recorded anything good for at least 15 years if not longer. I have heard him rant many times about political issues. He is an uneducated buffoon. I would love to see him debate some of the issues he says he cares about. He will not though. He is a hit and run artist. In any kind of a real exchange he would get killed because he is so stupid. He may have had some good tunes back in the late 70’s and 80’s but those days are long gone and he is nothing but an aging malcontent.

Exactly. Sometimes I think it’s because I’ve gotten older, but mostly I think it’s that Bruce’s best stuff ended in the 80s.

From what I hear of some of my co-worker fans of his, if you go to his concerts, he’ll chat about his political views between songs.

Wonder if he’ll have Obama come out on stage with him like Johnny Cougar did with John Edwards a few months back.

When these celebrities endorse a candidate, and that endorsement is broadcast on all msm, wouldn’t it be interesting and helpful if that endorsement was accompanied by the endorser’s credentials — high school rank, college rank, graduate degree, post-graduate degree, actual work or business experience, seminars attended, papers published, grants accepted to advance the national interests?

He should stick to writing songs about driving old Buicks around New Jersey and chasing girls.

Ever notice that Brucie Woocie Sproingstink’s fans are the biggest buttheads in every group of people? They are the Office assholes, the party drunks, the ones who hit on your wife, who take credit for others work, who harass other employees, who are the ones most likely to put a camera in the womens bath/changing room? It’s like a poker tell..Do they know Sproing...check your chair for multiple tacksstinks lyrics? They’re a self absorbed asshole with delusions of James Dean.

Just like Springsteen said lyrically, "Tramps like us, baby we were born to run...."
