This time, Robert Reich: So whats changed? I asked Reich.
I saw the ads the negative man-on-street commercials that the Clinton campaign put up in Pennsylvania in the wake of Obamas bitter/cling comments a week ago and I was appalled, frankly. I thought it represented the nadir of mean-spirited, negative politics. And also of the politics of distraction, of gotcha politics. Its the worst of all worlds. We have three terrible traditions that weve developed in American campaigns. One is outright meanness and negativity. The second is taking out of context something your opponent said, maybe inartfully, and blowing it up into something your opponent doesnt possibly believe and doesnt possibly represent. And third is a kind of tradition of distraction, of getting off the big subject with sideshows that have nothing to do with what matters. And these three aspects of the old politics Ive seen growing in Hillarys campaign. And Ive come to the point, after seeing those ads, where I cant in good conscience not say out loud what I believe about who should be president. Those ads are nothing but Republicanism. Theyre lending legitimacy to a Republican message thats wrong to begin with, and they harken back to the past 20 years of demagoguery on guns and religion. Its old politics at its worst and old Republican politics, not even old Democratic politics. Its just so deeply cynical.
The Clinton campaign will, no doubt, shrug off the Reich endorsement of Obama.
Traitor.
*** Update ***
The endorsement is up.
Has he grown since working with the Clintons?
I’ve seen bigger lawn jockeys.
Man did Rush poke at him....
Who cares about that nasty midget?
I imagine Reich - and everyone else who had first hand dealings with the Clintons while they were president - would endorse Hussein.
How could anyone - even a ‘rat - be loyal to Billary?
What does any of this have to do with “Republicanism”???? The left is trying to set the Republicans up so that we are afraid to ask a character question without being brow beaten out of the room. Not gonna work.
They are all gonna be sorry when Obama is forced to retire from the race.
I’m starting to think you may be right (or “Wright?” LOL)
That was clearly a coded message of racism. /.5 sarc

I was going to post something about Reich's height being proportional to Obama's experience but it's too complicated.
The indelible impression that remains with me from seeing Reich during a televised press conference is that "loyalty" is not something the man understands. I don't know how I got the impression that he is sleazy, but I surely did.
There is nothing worse than a socialist garden gnome.
Re#8 I don’t know about resigning from the race but BO may have some more complaining to do as, now that the debate is over and she cant be grilled on it, it is time for Hillarys minions to drop some stink bombs prior to the PA primary. She also made clear that every voter will have his or her say, ergo, it will go to the convention. Who woulda thunk before the coronation on Super Tuesday. *snicker*
I really want to see how she Gilloolys him before Tuesday.
Yes, but Obama will "never roam alone" with Robby there...
I heard him speak once. I couldn’t avoid it, mandatory attendance at a conference I had to attend. He blamed No Child Left Behind for the ills of the school system for the last 30 years. No kidding. He really did.
Hillary came up short on Reich’s endorsement?
Hey Robert Reich, meet Harold Ickes. Funny thing is I thought you knew him already.
Maybe Reich sees in Obama the ‘right people being in charge’ to make communism work this time around.
The mendacious munchkin shows his loyalty.
I'm tired of his Travelocity commercials too.
