If Obama Can’t Handle Charles Gibson, Democratic Trainwreck Looms
North Star Writers Group ^ | April 22, 2008 | David Karki

Posted on 04/22/2008 5:02:40 AM PDT by Invisigoth

In last week's primary debate in Pennsylvania, Sen. Barack Obama was directly questioned for the first time on some of his, shall we say, less than savory relationships and less-than-humble sounding words. ABC News's Charlie Gibson did an excellent job of putting him on the spot.

Had Obama handled his responses better, he might have been able to put some space between himself and Sen. Hillary Clinton. Not to mention quietly answer some of the questions about inexperience and lack of gravitas. (By the way, funny how the word the media beat into the ground in regard to then-Gov. George W. Bush in 2000 isn't used at all in regard to Obama. The media wouldn't be a bit biased, now would they?)

But he did not, generally dissembling and fumbling his way through. And then he and his cult-like followers got all outraged – or should I say bitter? – that he would actually have to suffer the ostensible indignity of answering questions. It reminded me of a line from the episode of M*A*S*H where Hawkeye and Trapper confront a daffy general about not having an incubator: “This is a press conference! The last thing I'm going to do is stand here and answer a bunch of questions!”

Humor aside, this is a revealing thing. It shows us a couple of things about Sen. Obama that should give us pause.

All the corruption—terrorist ties—racist preacher ties—and being caught in outright lies etc etc won’t mean a damn thing if the economy is bad—oil is sky high etc etc

The dem candidate will demagogue all campaign long and the MSM will fuel the fires of unrest

Welcome to a dem president and thank you Bush and the GOP congress (yeah Bush had one for 6 years )who did nothing to stop the problems

And Obama is afraid of Fox News Channel. Imagine having to deal with terrorists. He will hide somewhere hoping they go away.

Whatever you do, don’t let Obama win in November.

Why would he hide from people who think the same way he does?

Bush had a GOP Congress for 4 years (the Senate was under 'Rat control until 2002 because of Jeffords' desertion).

The media will do their best to make people think we're in a depression, or heading into one, so that people will vote Democratic.

Such a nice Democratic view of things, expecting the US government to solve things like market prices of commodities on world markets.

And my fear isn't that he'll hide, it's that he'll "understand" and agree with them. I have no faith in what either Obama or Hillary says. They both will do and say anything to get elected. Obama's just a lot more articulate and "likable" than Hillary. Otherwise they're identical.

When BHO first gained national attention, I learned he was a socialist, and therefore I opposed him ideologically.

Then I learned he was raised a muslim for his first 5 years of life and I suscpected I couldn’t trust him.

Then I saw his pastor of 20 years and knew, BHO is my enemy.

I can’t put into words how amazed I am that America would even consider someone like BHO for the POTUS. It is beyond my ability to make sense of this.

Yea, it's been the Bush administration policy to create profound increases in oil consumption by China and India. It's also been administration policy to cut off drilling and exploration in places like ANWR. Except it hasn't been.

You may make the point that Repubs haven't fought hard enough to keep the green wing of the Dem party from strangling our energy infrastructure, but it's been going on since the 70s. It's not like Bush can mandate new refineries, increased exploration and drilling, or new nuclear plants with a stroke of a pen. And razor thin Republican majorities (with squishy types like Norm Coleman in their ranks) couldn't have done it legislatively, and would have been savaged and turned our earlier for trying.
