Voting for McCain, Kinda – A Proposal
Self | 26 April 08 | Grut

Posted on 04/26/2008 12:45:36 PM PDT by Grut

The problem with voting third party (or not at all) instead of for McCain – and O, Lord! I am tempted – is that the Democrat may get in. The problem with voting for McCain as the lesser evil is that the RINOs will claim it's a vote for McCain and 'moderate' Republicans everywhere, declare a 'mandate' and go forth to govern like conservatives don't exist.

What to do?

Here's an idea: how about, instead of pulling the lever or punching the chad or filling in the arrow for McCain, we enter his name on our ballots as a write-in candidate? Should be possible in most states, keeps the Democrat out, provides evidence of how many conservatives are really unhappy with McCain and the party and may even, possibly, pull the RINOs up short.

Well, that last may be a bit too much to hope for but if we publicize the 'write-in' movement very clearly as a protest tactic, at least they won't be able to claim we're in their pocket.

Can’t speak for the others, but doesn’t work for me. I’ve used up my quota of McCain votes, and I feel soiled for having done so.

That’s not a bad idea. It’s pretty good in fact.

There is no way I will vote for McNut, Clinton, or Obama. It is not going to happen.

Too bad we can’t get behind one conservative candidate, one that wasn’t in the running before, and in unison write in his name leaving McNut out in the cold.

It’s a dumb idea.
Just hold your nose and pull the lever for McCain, and then spend the next 4 years keeping him (and all Republicans) in line.

It’s either that or throw in the towel and hand it all over to the liberal wing of the Democrat party.

If McCain picks a good running mate, which for me would be Romney, Sanford or Pawlenty, I would feel much better about voting for the GOP ticket. OTOH, if he picks someone like Crist of FL, or Leiberman, I might have to sit this one out.

Also won't do it. The GOP couldn't continue to play the he's-nothing-but-crap-in-an-Armani-suit-but-his-opponent-is-a-bigger-pile-of-crap-in-a-leisure-suit game forever. In fact, MacPsycho makes me nostalgic for the "intelligence" and "dynamism" of Bob Dole.

It’s third-party for me. Bob Barr, perhaps.

No, what you have to do is work for genuinely conservative candidates locally and in the house and senate. Vote for MacQueeg if you must, but better to use your precious time, wealth and talent working for people who actually share your values instead of throwing them away on one of Teddy Kennedy's intimates.

I’m in the throw in the towel bunch. McCain is no different from either of the other two other than the few crumbs he has thrown to the Right over the years.

Wake up.

Doesn’t work for me. I have been listening to McCain with an open mind and almost reached the point of saying I would vote for him.

But his recent comments concerning NC, well I am back to voting FOR Ms. Clinton or whoever the Democrat may be.

Sometimes the country needs to take whatever it takes to see the light.

At this point I do not like or trust McCain.

He wants to be a maverick but he also wants coservatives to do what he says like good little kids becasue he knows best.

Well I say F’ him!

I’ll take McCain throwing me a few crumbs over the Democrats stealing what little I have on my plate.
I wish you didn’t feel the desire to help enable them to steal from me.
