Mary Anastasia O'Grady writes in today's Wall Street Journal that George Soros's Open Society Institute has been funding terrorism. In a column entitled Friends of Terror in Peru, O'Grady notes that

For good reason: The MRTA is notorious for kidnapping, torturing and murdering civilians to advance its political agenda. More recently, Peruvian officials have linked it to Hugo Chávez's "Bolivarian Movement," which seeks to destabilize democracies in Latin America, and to the Colombian rebel group FARC...Get out your stopwatch and time how quickly Soros's paid shills at Media Matters for America write up a post denouncing the WSJ report....Meanwhile the work of other foreign-funded NGOs in the interest of terrorist organizations warrants urgent attention. Take the Peruvian "human-rights" group Aprodeh, which labored in Europe to get the MRTA off the terrorist list there, even though Peru still considers it a grave threat to its security.

Soros aside, what’s this all about? Anyone know anything about this Aprodeh group, aside from this article? Are they a good organization that happens to be on the wrong side of this one issue (MRTA), or is there something deeper going on here?
If Aprodeh is so bad, why are we funding them with our tax dollars? That seems to be a bigger story than Soros....
Mary Anastasia O’Grady’s probably their best columnist, and has written totally accurate things on Latin America for some years now (ignored, of course, by our esteemed leaders).

I go to BCN a lot, and over the years, I have seen it turn from your average European Socialist city to one that permits and even supports the anarchist thugs who run loose in its streets. And they're supporting the marxists in Peru as an anti-Spain and anti-American gesture. All this in the name of Catalan nationalism, of course.

I'm confused by this as well. It appears the headline could likewise be rewritten as:

If it's true that Aprodeh is a Peruvian terrorist-supporting organization being funded in part by American taxpayer dollars, that does seem like the bigger story.
Best to leave this one alone considering he also funds McCain and his shadow party.

I know, I’ve always said that George Steinbrenner would be a great Bond villain.

However, if anyone believes that all these NGO's operate completely separately from one another, then I have a bridge to sell you! Collectively, all three have more clout in our foreign policy that the entire US State Department put together. These NGO's "act" and the State Department just "reacts". They have taken the place of the CIA & the US State Department, but with no congressional or public oversight because most people don't even know they exist.

I have always wondered about The Institute For War and Peace Reporting (another Soro’s brain child). They run around ‘training’ journalist’s in foreign countries to basically attack the Bush Administration and undermine our war efforts in Iraq and Afghanistan, among other places.
Some of their ‘trained’ journalists have even ‘imbedded’ with the insurgents at times....(eye roll). Just went to visit the site for the first time in a long time and it looks like The Republican Institute(McCain’s baby) has seen fit to join the madness in the last few years!
I did not see them listed as a ‘supporter’ a few years ago when I was researching it. Sometimes I think this country’s leaders and institutions have lost their minds or just don’t do their homework of these NGO’s before handing them large sums of money!

It's a hoax because? Because Obama is Soros' et.al. first choice? Hillary, after Bill had a falling out with them, is now only the 2nd choice? And McCain is only the back-up in case both of the first two fail?
Any way you look at it, Soros owns the WH after 1/09 without some sort of divine intervention. He's simply biding his time.
That's where we differ. I think that they know exactly what they are funding -- at least to the extent that they want to know -- while always maintaining "plausible deniability" on the specific actions of an individual NGO.
I was recently reading about one of these NED NGO's, called "Freedom House". One of their pet projects? Making sure that Nazi memorabilia remains for sale on the internet! They are saying that it is about "Freedom of Speech", but if they were looking for a good "FOS" case for the internet, don't you think that they could have come up with something better than "Nazi Memorabilia" as a test case? It's flat out bizarre.
Here's a real case from the Balkans: The IRI has been chaired by McCain since 1992. McCain's campaigns have undeniably financed by the Albanians (Kosovo) for years. In 1999 the Clinton Administration needed a reason to bomb Yugoslavia. So one of the IRI's "assets" from its South America days, William Walker, gets sent in as an "OSCE chief" in Kosovo -- and Voila! He creates the phony "Racak Massacre" that becomes our excuse to bomb Yugoslavia for 78 straight days -- and take over Kosovo. This accomplished two things -- it brought McCain's name to prominence with the American people; and it gave us the excuse to plant Camp Bondsteel in Kosovo with no permission to do so from the country on whose sovereign territory (Serbia) we built it. And wait, it gets better -- the IRI then brags on its website that it has "trained its first president". The so-called pro-Western Serbian President Boris Tadic is an IRI graduate! And who cooperated to make all this happen? The IRI, the NDI and Soros' Open Society Institute -- they all cooperated to pull this off and they all profited from it, especially Soros. Welcome to the NWO. They are all in bed together and on the same "team", but that "team" isn't ours.
Please don't mistake what I am saying --our country needs to gather intelligence, especially during the war on terror. However when you have rogue agencies like these, with no Congressional oversight and no public oversight, they can do anything they want to serve the interests of whoever they want, I really don't believe that this is in the interest of the American people.

You may expect that once elected (unlikely IMO,) McCain will suddenly wake up and regret having carried Soros' water and demand a repeal of his own CFR, claim his amnesty plan was a mistake, acknowledge that CO2 is a gas involved in life, and decide not to destroy our economy for a hoax, etc. McCain's previous actions, pushing Soros' agenda, is hardly a "lunatic conspirationist theory," whatever that means.
