Incest father on 'boys holiday' as his captives languish in his secret dungeon
London Evening Standard ^ | 29/04/08 | Evening Standard

The evil father who locked up his daughter in a cellar for 24 years and fathered her seven children was pictured on a 'boys holiday' to Thailand in the 1990s, it has been revealed.

Josep Friztl is believed to have stockpiled food in the dungeon where Elisabeth and her three children were being held.

The four were expected to survive alone for up to two weeks until Fritzl returned. Snaps of the electrical engineer enjoying himself were made public for the first time today.

They come as it was revealed that Fritzl has told police he acted alone.

He has told detectives he was not helped to keep his Elisabeth and their children hidden in his cramped basement.

But police are not yet convinced he is telling the truth and are investigating how he could have bought food and clothes for them without anyone suspecting.

The 73-year-old pensioner, who has now been confirmed as the father of all Elisabeth's children, was today remanded in custody for two weeks.

OK. Just HOW did they find out about this?

I read the articles and couldn’t really figure it out.

FR’s posting guidelines prohibit me from saying what I think about this worthless piece of human shaped excrement, but maybe the mods would give everyone a pass in this case.

"OK. Just HOW did they find out about this?"

In one of the articles I read it stated that the 19 year old of Elizabeth and this scum bag got very ill and he took her to the hospital. Apparently the hospital was puzzled by this mystery illness and put out a plea for the girls mother to come forward. Apparently there was a TV in this cellar because it said that Elizabeth heard this plea and convinced her father to let her go to the hospital. While there DNA was taken and the dirty secret was out.

I'm waiting for all those apologists that want to criticize the government for stepping in and freeing that poor woman and her kids.

You know, the same idiots that believe those young girls were far better off being raped by old men in that church compound in Texas that being held in foster homes.

Maybe it’s just me but if someone tried to imprison me, I’d fight with my life to get free or plot some way of overpowering him. It’s not like she didn’t have time to think it over.

As for his wife..... If someone forbade me to go somewhere in my own home, you’d better believe it’s the first place I would be to find out what they were hiding. I find it incomprehensible that she did not know enough about what was going on in her own house that she missed this.

How did she miss all the supplies going down there? The food and clothes? Digging the place out? Construction material taken down? No notice of the noise of water running through the pipes when she wasn’t using water? No sounds from the daughter or kids at all?

In one of the early articles they said the 19 year old girl was so ill she needed hospitalization. As evil as he is, he chose to take her to the hospital rather than let her die. She is still in intensive care I believe.

Hey, ask your nearest “pro-choicer” whether it would be better for an underaged girl to have an abortion and returned to her rapist than it would be for Planned Parenthood to report the rape to the authorities.

Never met one yet that thought that the pregnancy of an underaged girl should be reported.

The girl was only 18 when it started. After fighting to no avail and being raped anyway, eventually fatalism sets in, and your mind just goes away when it is happening.

As for his wife..... If someone forbade me to go somewhere in my own home, you’d better believe it’s the first place I would be to find out what they were hiding. I find it incomprehensible that she did not know enough about what was going on in her own house that she missed this.

He had a workshop in his basement - table saws, drill press - the whole bit. If she just peaked into the basement from time to time she would see nothing. the dungeon was soundproofed, and hidden behind a fake, locked electrical panel - which in turn was hidden behind shelving.

How did she miss all the supplies going down there? The food and clothes?

Not sure. maybe ha had a study down there and ate out before coming home. The food he took down may have been assumed to be for him. the reports say the kids were malnourished.

Digging the place out?

He evidently dug it out by hand, a little at a time.

Construction material taken down?

He had an electrical contracting business. likely there were construction materials about the place all the time.

No notice of the noise of water running through the pipes when she wasn’t using water?

Probably went directly to the dungeon without flowing through the house.

No sounds from the daughter or kids at all?

Not through thick rock walls insulated with foam

The only reason I find it remotely credible that the wife did not know is that two (three?) other children grew up “above ground” and apparently did not know.

I could see a line like “don’t mess with the electrical conduit box” it’s broken working.

I am sure you like all the other folks on this thread (besides the fact that most of the posters are emotionally bleeding over from a previous post regarding the FLDS) is that it happened in a foreign country. I suppose it was in the fine print of the article where this guy said he was an American Citizen and a practising member of the FLDS. Can you show me in the article where either(his citizenship to the U.S.A. or a member of the FLDS) are claimed or proved other than your childish conjectures? Or you need to clarify and add the \sarc tag after your ridiculous statements.

Which of the so called “apologists” were condoning the behavior of the perverts on the compound? Can you find any of my posts or was this an attept to stir the proverbial pot and mix two different threads?

Well you will get to know who I am especially since you de-facto labled me a sympathiser with the perverts from the FLDS compound. If your response to thoughtful debate is “don’t know, don’t care,” then you will continue in your extreme ignorance and will be shown here for all to see!
just a quick lesson, those little squiggles on your keyboard are called “letters.” we combine them to form “words.” we combine the words to form “sentences.” Reading is what we call the process of deciphering the thoughts that another person has typed(in this case) and thus learning what they meant. It sounds like you need to work on the reading part. Read what I posted and we will go from there.

It’s possible. I have never been in the crawl space in my own home. Hubby’s been down there a few times to fix pipes or whatever but I’ve never been down there in 17 years. I also don’t know what’s going on in my neighbor’s homes, or their attics or basements.

It was said that they lived in an apartment building (that they owned, perhaps?) I have a friend who lived in an apartment building for years. There was tenant storage and laundry facilities in the basement but she never once went down there to use either. She used the laundromat and her parent’s garage to store stuff because she was a little afraid to use an isolated basement area, especially at night. So she never did. I can see not going into a basement area in an apartment building quite easily.
