If no one was ever born, no one would ever die.
I guess that’s where we’re headed - dontcha know? People are bad for the environment.
I consider body fat my own little carbon sink, and my own little contribution to the war on global warming. If all that fat currently hanging on people’s bodies were released into the atmosphere, just think how much more carbon would be floating about!!
Just my opinion and based on my personal headache relief plan—avoid sugars of all kinds (in excess). I wonder if the corn to ethanol program will eliminate some of the syrup or is that a by-product?

Fat isn’t caused by fast food, but affluence. From the time I was born until I was 14, my family didn’t go out to eat more than four or five times a year.
My daughter is 19. She eats out four or five times a week. A nation of fatties is a rich successful nation. Mideival serfs would literally think of our lives with clean water and all you can eat as heaven.
I'll let you smell my Italian sausage.
And there you have it: It is noble for someone to say everyone should be thin, or Vegan, or not smoke...it makes them “high minded noble free thinkers interested in making society a better place and helping us all live longer.” If I say that we should stamp out homosexuality, or that everyone should have the right to own a gun, that makes me a “small minded bitter Fundamentalist who wants to force people to live in his own restrictive Christian mold and steal their human rights.”
That’s the Wendy’s Baconator right? I LOVE that burger...everything I want with nothing to spoil the experience.
IIRC, HFCS is genetically engineered to be sweeter than sugar, and cheaper. I think there’s a lot more to it than we know, because another thing that dramatically decreased when we controlled our diets here was the constant food cravings—another side effect of HFCS.
It’s the most popular (and cheapest) sweetener. And it’s just straight simple carbs. For people with sugar sensitivities, it’s bad news: =the rise and fall of blood sugar creates a craving for more.
We’re on the same wave length—see #72.
Processed food companies would still exist. You can stay thin, or even restore thinness, eating processed food. You just can’t eat a whole bunch. But with 300 million customers even if they all ate in moderation there’d still be plenty of business for Doritos.
It's easy if you try
No more french fries or burgers
No more thunder thighs
Imagine all the people
Living on chick peas
Ooooh oooh oooh
You may say I'm a liberal
but I'm not the only one
There's not a single thing in your life
that the nanny state won't run
What, nasty? I was talking about various foods! You wanted me to smell Indian pickle, and I have some lovely Italian food! What, nasty?
[raises right eyebrow like Mr. Spock but lets the moment pass]

At 7 months pregnant, I’m well into that ‘protective mommy’ stage. [shrugs]
The most important point is to not make any exceptions. That's the only "magic." There's no magic in the diet plan (although it's a good one, proven to work.) You can get many good diet plans, each different, that will all "work" (although not all will be healthy.) The diet plan is not the problem—following it is the problem. And making exceptions is the primary reason that most people can't follow a plan, either at all, or indefinitely over time.
Why are exceptions such a big deal? Think of the classic Lay's potato chip commercial: "Bet you can't eat one." You can't: "Eating one" will inexorably lead to eating another, and then another. Once you make an exception, you'll use that as a precedent to justify making yet another one. And then another. And so on, until you're mot really following any plan at all. Works like that every time.
You have to accept that being overweight is not something your body is doing to you, it's something you are doing to your body. The problem is in your head, not in your metabolism, and not because you haven't found the "magic" diet. You're just addicted to overeating. It's that simple.
And you'll probably need help overcoming your addiction. You can get that help from Food Addicts in Recovery Anonymous.
