Latinos outraged over CBS report
Politico ^ | GEBE MARTINEZ

As if Katie Couric didn't already have enough problems.

Weighed down by record-low ratings at the anchor desk of "CBS Evening News," and by reports suggesting she will leave that post two years before her multimillion-dollar contract expires, Couric now has civil rights groups — mostly Hispanic — on her back.

And for good reason.

Here is the big woopty-doo...

The story’s central figure was a woman identified as an illegal immigrant, who was lying in her South Texas hospital bed — her right arm wrapped around her newborn and her left hand punctured by an intravenous needle — while reporter Byron Pitts lectured her that “many Americans who struggle to take care of their own families think it is unfair that they should have to take care” of non-U.S. citizens.

Immigrant advocates found the report so crass, and so far below the network’s journalistic standards set by legends Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite, that they accused Couric of sinking to the depths of Lou Dobbs, the CNN broadcaster and contributor to CBS’s “The Early Show” who has inflamed national anti-immigrant sentiment. One Hispanic group posted on its website a photo of Couric that morphs into Dobbs.

Yea, there are thousands just like this that are freeloading the medical system every month right here in Dallas Texas at Parkland county hospital. They jump the border with fat bellies for the two fold purpose of free medical care and an anchor baby. But we have to listen to this b.s...

“Anti-Latino falsehoods deserve no time on our public airwaves,” stated a letter to CBS by the Mexican American Legal Defense and Educational Fund and the National Council of La Raza (the Race). The groups and others have asked to meet with CBS “to help raise the dialogue and provide the American public an honest and accurate analysis of this nation’s broken immigration system.” And in a separate letter to CBS, the Asian American Justice Center lodged a similar complaint against the entire four-part series that included the report.

Falsehoods? I have see them, obviously pregnant, running across the border when the river is low. At about 6 months pregnant they are not coming here to work the fields.

Then we have this -

In its written complaint to CBS, MALDEF cited a Texas comptroller’s study noting economic benefits due to the presence of undocumented immigrants. MALDEF also maintained the CBS report exposes the woman “and implicitly leads her to believe that she is protected from deportation.” And it portrayed birthright citizenship as “an unfair benefit to immigrants rather than a core principle” of constitutional law.

Well "MALDEF" that is why they are called anchor babies.

Whenever a leftist piously utters the phrase "constitutional law," you may be absolutely, 110% certain that every other word in that sentence was a baldfaced lie. ;)

I’m still trying to figure out what Perky Catie actually said that was a “falsehood”- let alone what she said to upset “Latinos”

They’re also known as “jackpot babies”, and they are one of the main reasons that the Invasion must be halted and reversed. Once they have a toe-hold here thru their illegal alien parents, they are hard if not impossible to deport.

It’s coming down to a huge fight between the worthless Feds and elected officials (who are beholden by law and oath of office to protect its citizens) and the People, the states and the communities who are bearing the brunt of the Invasion.

Hey, La Raza here's some legal representation for you in your fight with CBS.

He's a bonafide lawyer that you should instantly recognize. He may be available, provided that Juan McCain can find another bus driver for the straight Talk Express.

Translated & amplified:
“The story’s central figure was a woman identified as an illegal alien, who was lying in her South Texas hospital bed, at no expense to her, after sneaking across the border and successfully waddling into the gringo emergency room—her right arm wrapped around her newborn `anchor-baby’ and her left hand punctured by an intravenous needle (quite possibly a hate crime by fascist American health care providers)—while reporter Byron Pitts lectured her that “many taxpaying Americans who struggle to take care of their families would like to boot this woman and her kid back across the border, and send the bill for her medical care to her country for payment,” while more and more Americans consider an `umble FReeper’s tag-line, below.

“what’s this? i’ve not heard of these crimes... it’s usually an illegal immigrant who commits a crime against a US citizen that i hear about... “

When the Jeraldo’s keep telling us that illegal aliens don’t commit crimes, I challenge them. Show me the crimes against aliens by US Citizens as compared to Alien crimes against us. In 5 years of searching, I have found 2 (TWO) reports. Everyday we bury our citizens thanks to them.

I saw the report. It was mild and more than honest. They just want to piss and moan which is what they are qualified most to do.

Same tactics the open border crowd has used for decades. They were calling us racist 15 years ago.

First a quote from Reagan.
“Our country and state have a special obligation to work toward the stabilization of our own population so as to credibly lead other parts of the world toward population stabilization.” Ronald Reagan, Governor, State of California, Hearings before Subcommittee on Census and Population, 1974.

Fred Charles Ikle a Distinguished Scholar at the Center for Strategic and International Studies, served as under secretary of defense for policy in the Reagan administration and as director of the U.S. Arms Control and Disarmament Agency in the Ford administration.

OUR PERPETUAL GROWTH UTOPIA
[snips]

Folly likes company. The growth utopians in our midst are not only kicking conservation-minded citizens into the enemy camp, but with their advocacy of high levels of immigration, they are also alienating many traditional conservative voters. A great many Americans of conservative persuasion do not regard their country’s borders as merely an obstacle to global free trade, an obsolete “protectionist” contraption that must be done away with. They value the borders as a breakwater that will protect their—yes, their— nation’s social fabric and political culture in a stormy world.

Yet, our Jacobins insist on open borders and “free immigration”. Whoever disagrees is a “racist”’; never mind that among American blacks, whose forefathers helped build this country, many also disagree. And whoever proposes that the United States should regain control if its borders will be derided as wanting a “Berlin Wall”. (Erich Honecker must have been mighty pleased to see distinguished Americans confirm what he always asserted about his wall: that it was never meant to imprison his people, but to keep out “undocumented” Westerners.)

The extreme Left in America is delighted. Like their soul mates in Europe, they have long pined for a split among conservatives that would create a faction they could attack as “fascist”, thus forcing all other conservatives to spend their entire time proving that they, by contrast, are not fascist. This stratagem worked in France and Germany, until, the conservative parties at last began to cope with immigration, and thus sharply curtailed their loss of votes to “anti-immigration” splinter parties.

and to mitigate these bumps, people nowadays demand—unfortunately—that government interfere ever more. The more populations are culturally and linguistically divided, the more irritating the bumps will be—hence the louder the demands for government-determined outcomes. To be sure, we conservatives know that we want less government, not more. But many in our midst fail to see that an unintended consequence of all the good growth they are advocating will be more government.

The CBS newscast that carries her name recently aired a one-sided and inaccurate report about illegal immigrant women ...

Nothing inaccurate about it.

Katie finally gets a story right and leftist's heads pop.

Shame on Politico for not dealing in facts.

Katie got one right?

Blind squirrel. Nut.

I note that — without providing the correct context — the illegal lobby deems the mere mention of the cost of illegals as "crass, and so far below the network’s journalistic standards set by legends Edward R. Murrow and Walter Cronkite".

This has absolutely nothing to do with "immigrants". I am an immigrant myself.

This has to do with ILLEGALS, as in "counter to the Rule of Law that is a core value of American society".

Given the move to socialism here, it probably will never be otherwise: Not counting Byzantine complexity and confusion, government produces – and has — NOTHING unless it first takes it from some PERSON. SOMEBODY ALWAYS PAYS.

The other question is, WHO exactly, pays? The law abiding, play by the rules, hard working (usually middle class) person/family "pays". Or as some would call us - "the saps". It's a great system.

Unfortunately, Reagan didn’t stick to his principles when he signed the 1986 amnesty bill. Worst thing he ever did.
