An audience member ambushed John McCain on Thursday at an otherwise placid town hall meeting in Des Moines, Iowa, with a surprise question about whether he had ever called his wife by an obscene term.
The man stood up and first said he wanted to ask the Arizona senator about a mental health and mental health care concern.
Previously I had been married to a woman who was very verbally abusive to me, the man said. He paused and asked, Is it true that you called your wife a c***?
The crowd booed, and McCain responded:

“I’ve never called my wife a carp in my life. Of course, she has had some not-so-fresh days...”
A Republican, as much as we do not like McCain, would not have said that in public, not even to Bill Clinton.
Good guess.
He was Joe Biden’s former campaign manager. Now a big Obama supporter.
Oops, I guess the chickens are coming home to rooooosssst.
This is offensive?!!

Book: McCain temper boiled over in '92 tirade.....
If true and it shows up on YouTube McCain has huge trouble.
I was there.
I thought McCain did a masterful job of handling the situation.
The Des Moines Register reported he had PRESS credentials.
He was crouched down on the floor, just outside the ropes, with the photographers. They looked at him funny when he asked to ask a question. And they were clearly annoyed with him after he posed the question. Most likely because they didn’t like him using them for ‘cover’.
The NYT tried a similar empty story about his having a “relationship” (maybe, sorta, kinda) with a lobbyist in 2000 and that hurt no one but the Slimes.
It's plain to see the long knives are out on this forum for McCain and being waved around by people I can only say are more likely to vote for a Democrat in any given election then a Republican. I say this knowing some of these people are long time members of FR. This “veteran” status they wrap themselves in as a sort of shield against any criticism of their Rep or Con credentials is totally bogus as far as I'm concerned. I have been a member of the DU for many, many years and that doesn't make me a liberal. I have done there through posdting exactly what I feel many are doing here. I am amazed more can't see through this farcical behavior here AND there.
Thanks for the report. Must be retirement has subdued you. I’m amazed that you didn’t get him in a headlock and made him cry for his mama. LOL ;-)

Oh, they were out in force yesterday here on FR, criticizing posters as being not SMART enough anymore. Why, back in the OLD days we had really important discussions was the theme. Anybody who joined FR later than they did is stupid. I suspect it bothered them that FR gets more hits than any other conservative forum.
That’s him! Except he has longer hair (covering his ears) now.
It was sort of strange. He was carrying a laptop, but had no camera. Yet he was in the area with the photographers.
This is something McCain is alleged to have said. It is his problem. As for your other insinuation stick them where the sun don’t shine.

Whatever you say n00b.
He backstabbed and colluded against us and George W bush many times.
I dont think your stupid but I do question anyones judgement and wisdom that supports McCain with any veracity.
