Temperatures tipped to pause for a decade
The Australian ^ | May 02, 2008 | Matthew Warren

Posted on 05/02/2008 11:32:52 AM PDT by Red6

RISING global temperatures may stall for the next decade, with some scientists now believing the natural response of ocean currents will temporarily offset the effects of climate change. German climate scientists say the temperature pause is the result of the slowing of the global currents that transport heat around the planet. Their research, in the latest edition of the journal Nature, is an attempt to more accurately

Well,

Global warming has morphed to climate change and now we have the addition of new "pauses" in this change since in case you didn't know, global temperatures last year on average have DROPPED. That's right, while Gore talks about global warming, GE sells compact florescent light bulbs with mercury in them "to save the planet," and the Germans blame the Tsunami years past on the US's emissions of CO2 and our reluctance to sign up for Kyoto, global temperatures have DROPPED. So, what to do? Of course, you morph the entire concept of "global warming" into "climate change" and add in some new junk science concocted from the sorts of minds that told us our forests will all be dead by the year 2000 because of acid rain; that we'll all get skin cancer from the Ozone Hole..........

If the consequences of laws capping CO2 output, subsidies to green power, the great ethanol and bio fuel mess mandated by laws which have greatly contributed to rising food prices.......... if all these things didn't carry with them the consequences they do, some would sit off to the side and simply laugh at the idiots jumping on the band wagon of carbon offsets, and Toyota Priuses (with 450 pounds of batteries on board). However, this stupidity does have real consequences economically at all levels, and even those who think this is an issue not affected them and far removed from their world probably won’t know why they can get an incandescent light bulb anymore in 2010.

Environmentalism is another boogieman politicians can like Obama can battle. It’s the ever lasting soft issue politicians can pursue without much rebuttal or questioning. It’s a big business, with slogans, jingles, and billions made selling stuff that’s biodegradable, regenerative, natural, sustainable, low carbon, ecological……. It allows people to feel good about themselves, it let’s the youth take a stand for something. One can even say that it gives some people a purpose. It has created thousands of jobs recycling, sorting, processing things which economically and quite honestly environmentally make no sense to recycle. Nonetheless, tens of thousands of jobs depend on it now extending all the way from research and academia to the environmental engineer or paper recycling plant. But what people seem to forget in all this great feel good world of environmentalism is that there IS an economic cost, and we pay in many ways even if the cost is hidden in the form of subsidies. People are not aware of the minor detail that their tax money is propping up a system that is not economically viable. Every one of these feel good agenda’s builds in some form of structural inefficiency in the economy at large, may it be at a communal, state, or national level. Doing good things to conserve resources and protect our health makes sense, but the ideas and even dogma behind much of what is called “environmentalism” is far removed from pragmatism at this point.

What is interesting is that you seldom hear a journalist question or really dig into these "themes." It's taboo.

BTW, did I tell you that global temperatures DROPPED on average last year?

Well it’s only taken them 10 years to figure this out. Temperatures haven’t risen since 1998.

global temperatures DROPPED on average last year?

See?

It's WORKING!

Thanks to people like you, we are turning the tide.

But don't stop now, keep those donations coming in!

Well, now.

First it was Global Warming. But then it didn't warm.

Then it became Climate Change. But then it stopped changing.

So now it'll be Global Stability.

WE MUST DO SOMETHING ABOUT GLOBAL STABILITY! STOP GLOBAL STABILITY NOW!!!!

The average temperature could drop 20 degrees and remain there for 100 years, and the environMENTALists would still claim we are in a temporary stall.

And I bet those multi-million dollar computer models predicted this a long time ago???? Actually, the models predicted we were headed into a rapidly accelerating warming period, but that did not happen. I bet all those consensus of so-called scientist will now question the accuracy of the propaganda machines, I mean 'models'.

In other words, these "scientists" are now covering their @sses.

Well enough with human interference with the weather. We have so lowered our carbon footprints that we have thrown the earth into a new ice age.

Please, everybody, I beg of you, start driving aimlessly around, commence belching and fa..ing now. We must save ourselves.

What's that you say. Natural phenomenon caused the cooling? Well then how could my carbon footprint be responsible for warming the planet, if natural cycles are just going to counteract it? Just maybe, I have no effect on the weather at all.

IMHO;
I believe the soot from aircraft is blocking the sun and the average temp will continue to slip. If volcanic activity gets more active the soot will accelerate the cooling. I've read that the dark ages were caused by volcanic and meteor activity leading to very wet weather in Europe. Also around 1100 wet weather in Europe, lasting for 4 years, decimated the civilization due to crop failure.

And rightfully so, for the next envirofad will be the coming ice age. Wouldn't want to leave ones' backside exposed for that big event.

I live in Northern NJ. Have lived in the same house since 1978. Yesterday morning 5/1/08 with my thermostat turned all the way down to 57 my heat came on.

Now they are saying that I will have to pay extra taxes to forestall Global Warming that will resume in 10 years.

You cannot make this stuff up!

“RISING global temperatures may stall for the next decade, with some scientists now believing the natural response of ocean currents will temporarily offset the effects of climate change.”

The garbage-in garbage-out mathematical model of the “man-made” global warming hoax can call the “natural response of the ocean currents” a “temporary” affect, but the long natural history record of CO2 levels and “average global temperature” indicate that that affect is neither temporary nor is it the only “offset”, in the dynamic earth atmosphere, to the heat trapping ability of CO2.

The natural record is that CO2 is a trailing factor in earth temperature-change cycles, not a leading factor - it rises following a rise in temperature, sometimes long after and it falls after the temperature falls, again sometimes long after - indicating high levels of CO2 cannot sustain a rise in temperature when the sun and the entire dynamics of earth climate move into a lower-temperature range. It cannot keep the earth “warmer” against all the other factors and it cannot make the earth “warmer” against all the other factors.

Think of CO2 and the entire “greenhouse” ability of all the
“greenhouse” affects in the atmosphere - of which CO2 is one of the smaller ones - as something like the insulation in your house. Altogether, they keep your house as warm as you allow the heater to make it. If the heater goes out, they will not keep the inside of the house from eventually freezing in the dead of winter, no matter how much newspaper (extra CO2) you push into holes in your wall.

The sun as the primary driver AND the entire dynamics of earth’s climate as the collective secondary driver - not just the “greenhouse gases” alone - make the earth “warmer” or “cooler”. When the sun cycles and the cycles of all the dynamics of the earth’s climate, not just “greenhouse gases” , trend toward greater or lessor “warming”, the earth will warm or cool accordingly, and history shows CO2 trends will follow, not lead, in that process.

As a follower in those trends CO2 cannot create them and, at any level, it has not created the current trend.

I don’t even bother arguing the facts of AGW with these folks.

I go straight to their motivations as revealed by their “solutions”:

Destruction of capitalism, reduction of lifestyle of the masses, massive control over the populace’s energy consumption, and global socialism.

But it won’t dip much because the global warming will have a mitigating effect.
