Not to dig up the old argument again, but . . .

What if Terry really DID tell Michael she wanted him to ensure she did not exist in that state?

My wife and I updated our wills last week and we now (finally) have our living wills in place. I have let my wife know, in no uncertain terms, that a "Schiavo-like" non-responsive state requiring IV feeding will be the end for me. Both she and I will allow doctors (more than one) do what they can for 1 month. That's it.

I've also informed my parents of our decision. I pray the courts stay out of my death if it comes to that.

My death will be traumatic enough for the family, I don't want my life immediately preceding my death to also be a continuous financial burden. I didn't work my whole life to provide for my family just to become a burden at the end.

No offense to the Freepers who advocated the state interfering with the Schiavo case as I agree it wasn't so straight forward, but . . . hopefully I've ensured that no one, regardless of their intent, can stop my wife from 'pulling the plug' on me when the time comes.

The sad truth is that Terri was murdered (starved and dehydrated to death) by her estranged and unfaithful “husband” with complicity by our federal and state court system. May she rest in the peace of God’s love and may her parents and siblings be comforted in Mary’s embrace.

What if Terry really DID tell....

You can bring up 10,000 "what if" posits and/or arguments and it will solve nothing in terms of this tragic, indeed horrible case. The testimony and facts show it wasn't about "financial burdens" or anything but Michael Schiavo's selfish desire to have Terri dead so he could go on living with his new common law wife and kids. The facts suggest no "what ifs" but Michael's corrupt moral code coupled with a complicit legal system that assisted him in achieving his goal.

It is always better to err on the side of life. The court allowed “hearsay” evidence from Michael and his family to determine Terri's fate. Terri is in Heaven, no doubt, and would not want to come back to this sinful earth even if she could, but I often think of the Schindler family and the grief and torture they had to go through because of the selfishness of one man.

In the note Terri wrote that she shared her parents’ values.
Unfortunately, Judge Greer. www.judgegeorgegreer.com would have said the note was irrelevant or written when she was too young to express herself. He’s an evil creep.
Terri’s note halfway down. http://www.LifeNews.com/bio2440.html

Terri spent $80 at the beauty salon. That was pretty much how this started. She was planning to divorce him and he likely sensed it. Their marriage was probably nothing like yours.

And we also need to be REALLY CLEAR on exactly how Terri was a “financial burden” to her estranged, adulterous “husband.”

Terri was awarded a lot of money for her rehabilitation. This money was NEVER used for her rehabilitation, it was spent on lawyers to kill Terri. Thus, the ONLY way Terri could be construed as a “financial burden” is through the twisted and evil notion that if she lived, her estranged and adulterous “husband” wouldn’t get her money. It is also worth noting that Terri’s estranged, adulterous “husband” was awarded a large sum of money for “loss of consortium” which is incredibly ironic when you consider that he abandoned Terri for another woman and has children with her. And finally, we need to realize that the Schindlers offered to let Terri’s estranged, adulterous “husband” keep all of the money if he would simply divorce Terri and let them become her guardians.

Saying that Terri was a “financial burden” to her estranged, adulterous “husband” would be the same as saying that Jesus Christ was a “financial burden” to Judas.

Wow, I should have known not to post on this thread as this topic is a sensitive subject for many.

A clarification for those who didn't read my post and if I didn't word it correctly . . .

My reference to a "financial burden" was in the context of MY potential situation. I didn't say Terri was a "financial burden" to Michael so please avoid the leftist tactic of false accusations/attributions.

As for it being "better to err on the side of life" - that's the reason for my post: I WANT NO ONE TO "ERR" - my wishes are now legal and my wife has the power to ensure they are implemented (and vice-versa). Sorry some of you missed the whole point and I hope you do as I did and get your wishes on paper asap.

Also, my "what if" posits and/or arguments had nothing to with an attempt to "solve" this case. This issue has been solved - though obviously not to our satisfaction.

One last point to ponder . . . does or should adultery nullify the legal rights of a spouse if the marriage is still intact? If so, what about adultery in the mind and heart as the Bible indicates? I'm not about to make that claim and I hope you won't make that leap either.

Thank you for the clarification. Obviously EVERYONE has the right to make their own decisions and they really should be in writing lest there be any confusion.

Not only did Terri have NO WRITTEN WISHES, her estranged, adulterous husband did not claim that she had ever said anything until AFTER he had the money. And his siblings conveniently "recalled" Terri saying this at the same time.

One last point to ponder . . . does or should adultery nullify the legal rights of a spouse if the marriage is still intact?

Let's look at it this way (and this is the scenario that ACTUALLY HAPPENED with Terri):

Let's say that you are hospitalized and even though you have no written instructions your spouse claims that you want to be starved and dehydrated. And the spouse claims that starvation and dehydration is "beautiful and euphoric" as evidenced by the picture below.

Now, let's say that you get a routine urinary tract infection and your spouse decides that denying you antibiotics might kill you quicker. However, when you don't die, your spouse starts saying things like, "When is this bitch/bastard going to die?"

And then let's say that your spouse has become engaged to be married to another person and has also had two children with them. And your spouse also knows that the only thing standing in the way of the marriage is the fact that you are still married. Your spouse then has ONLY TWO OPTIONS:
1. They can divorce you, but in so doing they will have to forfeit your money (which is a considerable amount).
or
2. They can find a way to kill you and keep your money.

Knowing all of this, would you really want this spouse deciding if you should live or die?

I know this picture may be inappropriate for young children, however I am glad that you posted it. Americans need to be awakened from the sanitized slumber of the occupation media and see what the “state” has done. This was torture in murder and it's purest form. It is one thing not to continue “heroic” medical efforts, but it is murder when palliative care is removed. Let America see the horror and evil that was done. Kudos.

I agree, the image is upsetting to children; however, what it shows should be UNACCEPTABLE to ALL of us. If the culture of death is going to continue with their claims that murder by dehydration and starvation is so wonderful, then they need to be prepared to show the world what the outcome looks like.

Lisa MacPherson was a pretty girl who was in a car accident in Clearwater and was in shock. Instead of going to the ER, the sci-fis took her bk to the hotel so they could neglect her. It reminds me of one of Jeffrey Dahmer’s victims who ran toward the police. Dahmer told the police it was just a lover’s spat so the police didn’t help the child. He became Jeffrey Dahmer’s supper.
