Breaking News: Travisd Childers beats Greg Davis in MS Special Election
CNN | May 13th, 2008 | Self

Posted on 05/13/2008 7:51:36 PM PDT by The_Republican

CNN just reported Childers beat Davis.

Dick Cheney campaigned for the Republican candidate in that district.

GOP ran commercials tying Democrat to Obama and Reverend Wright.

Thrid straight special Election where long held GOP seat is lost.

This in MISSISSIPPI. WOW!

This is not good news by any means.

Hopefully this is a wake-up call for the do-nothing, big-spending, corruption-mongering GOP Congress we’ve had for years.

You see, Travis Childers is running as a CONSERVATIVE Democrat. He was anti-gay marriage, anti-abortion, pro-gun, etc. It’s a marvel that the Dems are celebrating his victory, because if they had run a true Democrat (like Pelosi or Obama) he would have lost solidly.

So what? The first vote will show you that he's a f'ing democrat. As an example I'll use my POS congressman, Chet "I'm a conservative" Edwards... otherwise knows as Nancy Pelosi's b#tt-boy.

He was so conservative that he backed the democrat slam on Bush and the troops for his first vote and has voted straight dem ever since.

He's a democrat politician who scares everybody in Central Texas that if he isn't elected the Republicans are going to close the VA in Waco and all the vets are living under a bridge, doncha know...

....and of course he brings home the bacon to the local universities....

Every time I hear this clown on the radio I feel like puking.

No after McCain's speeches, I honestly believe if Hillary were to get the nomination, her rhetoric would be more conservative sounding, while McCain woos the moderates and the lefties. The Clintons may be dishonest, but they are pragmatic liars. We know Barry won't change his message as he truly believes in his socialist views. McCain? I have listened and wanted to come around, but he keeps bitch slapping the conservative movement.

Maybe its Moses time for the country club Republicans. A few years in the desert, while we, the rank and file seethe over the next few years.

Childers ran as a conservative Democrat ...

I can't believe "conservatives" are this stupid. Yet another flaming liberal "runs right" and gets elected in a conservative district. WTF?

You would think after the elections of 2006 and the ultra-liberal Congress that was the result that "conservatives" would be running back to the polls to get the half-butted RINO Congress back.

One of the interesting dynamics now is Democrat’s are running and winning acting as Conservatives while Republican’s sound more like Liberals...and lose.

It really goes to show that Conservatism is alive and well...it just doesn’t have a political party that represents it.

This was a nonpartisan election. My guess that a lot of people were confused.

Greg Davis, the GOP candidate, is very conservative and should have been a strong candidate. He was hurt by the national GOP

That's not surprising considering the GOP has been moving closer to the socialist Democrats over the years.

That just confirms stupidity. People who have no clue about who is running in an election have no business voting.

If that's true, it means there's just not enough conservatives out there to vote for a 'real conservatives.' What happen in the national level is irrelevant if the district is really conservatives. If conservative voters don't want to turn out and result in the lost of a conservative candidate, I don't see how we can blame the RNC.

I agree, but this is North Mississippi, with a bunch of ex-Memphians thrown in!

IMHO the country is not in bad shape, and the dems in Congress do not have policies that will address any national issue.

BUT republicans are so absolutely stupid they have allowed voters to think everything is terrible and the GOP is running the country and messing up. I hate republicans second only to hating democrats.

They are running a few conservative dems but the result is still a far left Congress. People are being fooled. How “conservative” is a dip like Jim Webb?

and Childers is a churchgoing Baptist whose actual minister is well-respected locally.

And he will do everything in his power to keep abortion legal...

"Childers ran as a conservative Democrat who focused his campaign on reducing taxes, reducing gas costs and improving benefits for seniors - who are an important swing vote in that district."

It might seem heartening to some that the democrats are winning by running as conservatives in some of these places, but the hard truth is these "conservative" democrats are defeating "conservative" republicans.
