Clinton Remark on Robert Kennedy’s Killing Stirs Uproar
New York Times ^ | May 24, 2008 | KATHARINE Q. SEELYE

BRANDON, S.D. — Senator Hillary Rodham Clinton defended staying in the Democratic nominating contest on Friday by pointing out that her husband had not wrapped up the nomination until June 1992, adding, “We all remember Bobby Kennedy was assassinated in June in California.”

Her remarks were met with quick criticism from the campaign of Senator Barack Obama, and within hours of making them Mrs. Clinton expressed regret, saying, “The Kennedys have been much on my mind the last days because of Senator Kennedy,” referring to the recent diagnosis of Senator Edward M. Kennedy’s brain tumor. She added, “And I regret that if my referencing that moment of trauma for our entire nation and in particular the Kennedy family was in any way offensive.”

Still, the comments touched on one of the most sensitive aspects of the current presidential campaign — concern for Mr. Obama’s safety. And they come as Democrats have been talking increasingly of an Obama/Clinton ticket, with friends of the Clintons saying that Bill Clinton is musing about the possibility that the vice presidency might be his wife’s best path to the presidency if she loses the nomination.

Na, they’ve turned on her....

Yep. This am, while watching a clip about this story, the news had the most awful picture of Hillary in the background. It was pretty obvious she is the unannointed one now.

"Hillary says purpose was historical instances of candidates staying in race until late in primaries... In 1968: Dem Race was only 3 months along"(Drudge)...

Hildabeast has been campaigning for 2 years. There ought to be a LAW against politicians bothering the public with their BS for two excutiating years. Go back to primaries starting in March of the year the elections take place.

"New Hampshire, first in nation, wasn't until March 12. Kennedy didn't even get into running until March 16. By June 4, 1968, date of California primary, there had only been 13 primaries... Kennedy was killed on June 5"(Drudge)...

Always remember and never forget that Hildabeast says nothing that isn't carefully weighed and measured.

However, Barack Obama is narcistic in the sense that he ALWAYS thinks everyone is talking about him.

For instance, Dubya was referring to Jimmy Carter and his ilk, when he made the remarks about appeasing the terrorists.

Obama jumped right on that like the remark was made to order for him.

Obama is presenting himself as a martyr.

To that I say, "Get off the cross. Somebody needs the wood."

It’s not that; it’s her black soul that would tell her the reason to stay in is that he might get shot. Now, from what I see white people (JPII, Reagan, Ford, 2 Kennedy’s, Wallace) get just as many assasination attempts as black people (King), but that’s not the media’s meme.

Why did she have to say this over a long weekend? I have to wait for my orders from OC CinC until Tuesday!

Your prof is right...the Johnson/Humphrey forces had the convention under their control...as incumbents usually do...even Teddy Roosevelt in 1912, vastly more popular than Taft could not get the GOP nomination and had to run as a third party.

Look what happened to the McCarthy forces in Chicago in 1968...no way was LBJ gonna let anyone other than Hubert be the nominee.

“I don’t want to defend a clinton, but she’s being railroaded here. Her comment was taken way way out of context. What she said was historically accurate.”

What bloody context? Just hearing about this and I’m ready to buy and a gun and start shooting. I can’t believe people are defending Shrillary over this!

This is the context: She is calling on her peops, help me out. Blow this mofo’s brains out so I can win.

What other context do you think she is suggesting. That is EXACTLY what she is thinking. Someone can turn out his lights and she wins by DEFAULT.

Because she wants the POWER.

And apparently this was no mere slip. I’ve heard it reported that she has said this in MARCH.

Okay, don’t take this personal as I don’t mean to attack you here but please tell me what context all these defenders of Shrillary are trying to explain.
I am not an Obama supporter but I am an American. And this b()**%^ needs to be taken to the back of the shed and put of her misery.

For the good of the nation. I’m disgusted by her remarks but have to say in a way glad that America can see her for who she is.

Have any of you seen the video? Really? I am beyond disgusted. Hilary was taken out of context. I DESPISE her with everything I have, but it's another example of how the scumbag MSM takes everything out of context to get HUSSEIN elected... It's absolutely despicable. Hilary said absolutely nothing wrong, and actually looked really good in that interview IMHO... I actually feel really badly for her...

Just wait till McCain faces the MSM fire in earnest. He's going to be destroyed. Say hello to President Osama Hussein...

I am BEYOND disgusted... Almost as much with some of you, who accept the media's take without seeing or reading for yourselves... Truth is, Hillary's been the only one doing the heavy lifting against Osama, and for that she's getting killed... and she was the media's darling... imagine how McCain's gonna fair the next few months. It will be a landslide, and much of the political landscape in most areas will replicate the coasts- VERY liberal, and one party rule... I've never seen anything like it

If she is such a smart, intelligent, able woman running for the highest office in the land...she needs to know when to say something and how to say it. She could have stopped at her “husbands” campaign and let it go from there. She didn’t have to harken back to the time that she did after that. Seesm EVERYTHING she says according to her and her minions is taken out of context. Let someone else from another party truly say something that is taken out of context and she can be right there on the front line using her accusatory tone to bring them down.

No ... she said this which means she just isn’t smart enough to be the President. She can’t ever remember saying something, or she was too tired and suffered sleep deprivation when she said it or this excuse or that excuse. She always has SOMETHING OR SOMEONE to blame for her own mistakes. THIS time...she has no one to blame but herself. It’s out there for all the world to see.

She stepped over the line BIG TIME. It’s not the media who is at fault...(they would and have reported far less on GWB and others) no...it is HER fault. She is totally to blame. She does not have the diplomacy to be President.

She has finally done what no one else has been able to do to this poing...she has doomed her own campaign and there is no going back. She is finished and it’s a perfect example of why she was never Presidential fodder.

Happy Memorial Day by the way.

I don’t want to defend a clinton, but she’s being railroaded here.

This is shocking to see a Democrat treated like a Republican!

. . .this is just false outrage.

I totally agree. Sensationalism over nothing. It's what the media does best, along with folks who swallow these curiosities hook, line and sinker. Rather than debate the substance, we magnify shallow remarks as if they make or break the person and/or policy. It's like fiddling while Rome burns.

Post 27 maninly applies to you. Just because we hate Hillary, doesn’t mean she’s always wrong. Do yourself a favor, watch the video... for yourself, NOT through the MSM lens, and let us know if she’s being railroaded or not. 2 minutes of you time... You may realize you were snookered by the MSM...

I saw the video. It was a cushy interview in which she rambled a bit too much. I agree that the media is giving obama a pass. That is obvious and disgusting, but not at all surprising. I have zero sympathy for hillary.

Feel free to illustrate in greater detail. Thanks.

Don’t you know that this must be killing the Clintons? For years they have been the god and goddess of the Democratic Party. And, now to be rejected for a Black guy who has no record but that of a State Senator from Illinois, who a year and a half ago was an unknown......

This has got be be eatin’ their lunch. LET’S ENCOURAGE HILLRY TO RUN AS AN INDEPENDENT !!!

Here’s my biggest fear... if they can snooker so many otherwise intelligent and informed Freepers, how does the regular polulace, which goes off of soundbites, stand a chance... How many of them will take the time to sift through to the truth? The MSM has become so partisan and powerful, comparisons to the Nazi propoganda machine aren’t that outrageous... I mean it... the ability and desire to craft opinion, in a country several times that of Germany, is mind-boggling.

Yep. Also, notice how he’s still got that goofy picture of McCain with his thumb up and his face all scrunched looking like Father Time’s older brother. Guess Drudge is voting for “hope” and “change” in November.
