A woman president in the White House will be nothing like Hillary Clinton
Telegraph UK ^ | 25 May 2005 | Camille Paglia

Posted on 05/24/2008 6:09:41 PM PDT by shrinkermd

Right now, Hillary is in Godzilla mode, refusing to accept Barack Obama's looming nomination and threatening to tie the Democratic party in legal knots until the August convention and beyond. Those who think she will withdraw gracefully in a few weeks are living in cloud cuckoo land. The Clintons are ruthless scrappers who will lock their bulldog teeth in any bloody towel.

In her raw ambition and stubborn, grinding energy, Hillary will certainly cast a long shadow on young women aspiring to high office. She is both inspiring role model and cringe-making bad example - a feminist who never found a way to succeed without her husband's connections, advice, and intervention.

Bill Clinton may have masterminded Hillary's runs for the Senate and for the Democratic nomination, but he has been a gross liability in recent months, as he has co-opted the hustings to maunder on about himself or to inject divisive racial overtones into the debate. The next major female presidential candidate will be well advised to stuff any errant husband into a rucksack and chuck him down a laundry chute.

If they are to be truly equal, women must fight their own fights and not rely on a borrowed spotlight. Hillary has tried to have it both ways: to batten on her husband's nostalgic popularity while simultaneously claiming to be a victim of sexism. Well, which is it? Are men convenient sugar daddies or condescending oppressors?

(Maybe it's too obscure, but the idea made me chuckle.)

I enjoy her writing even when I don't agree with what she is saying. She sure is skilled.

She's a brilliant writer, and really a lot of fun to watch on discussion panels. To say that she's got a lot of "energy" is an understatement. Sort of the exact opposite of William F. Buckley, but with the same, sharp intellect (although I disagree with many of her opionions.)

I wish that I could have had her as a teacher: I'm sure that I would have developed an appreciation of art. I actually used to hit the "Slate" web site to read her weekly columns.

Wow, I never thought of the comparison to the Rumanian dictators. Good one.

People here think the press is ripping into Hillary. The press isn't doing anything but cosmetic coverage. The huge gaffes that she routinely makes are covered for a couple of days and smoothed over. Anyone else, especially a Republican, would be branded for life if they said anything remotely as stupid.

Obama got nailed for weeks by Jeremiah Wright. He's a dunce. So is she. There is no difference between the two of them on issues. They are both communists. They are both candidates of the far left. But I've waited for two decades to see the Clintons lose. I detest them. They represent the ruin of America. Obama is a young goofball. He might be just as stupid after being elected as he is now. We can hope.

Thanks, and if there was any true justice in this universe, both of those infamous couples would have the same kind of ending in common. All of them egomaniacs, all of them amoral and utterly depraved, all of them without any redeeming social value whatsoever. Lying, murderous scum.

Two more Clinton adorers in the first five posts in the thread. This is why these Scum aren’t dead yet. Continuing, relentless ‘conservative’ support. The entire country has gone mad this election cycle.

The simple fact is that Hillary is not Leftist enough for the New Democrat Party which has moved ever closer to the true face of Socialism.

Hillary lacking in leftist creds for the Democrat party?

ACU ratings based on percentage of votes;

Obama 2007 = 7%
Obama 2006 = 8%

Clinton 2007 = 0%
Cinton 2008 = 8%

Absolutely. Those ratings aren’t worth the screen they display on.
Aside from his race, he ain’t getting all of those votes for nothing.

Even Hill doesn’t promise to pull the troops irrespective of the situation on the ground.

But this is not irrational or pathological from Hillary's point of view; like most with her lifestyle morality is what is good for Hillary is good; what is bad for Hillary is bad.Z

OK, but it IS irrational and pathological. She can call it like she sees it, but her delusions don't trump reality.

Okay, Hillary got a 0% conservative rating by the ACU in 2007 and your response is to criticize the ACU and defend Hillary.

Aside from his race, he ain’t getting all of those votes for nothing.

Actually Hillary has gotten more votes than Obama.

Even Hill doesn’t promise to pull the troops irrespective of the situation on the ground.

You claim that Hillary's posistion on Iraq is better than Obama's. Meanwhile, Hillary claims that her position on Iraq is the same as Obama's.

No point in conversing with you.

Obama is far to the left of hillary and there is no defense of anybody, period.

because she is as upset as the rest of us that such a nutcase could possibly have a shot at the presidency.

Good Lord.

She simply got outmaneuvered by Obama, and was caught wearing last year's clothes in the beauty contest known as the "Democratic Party."

She's spent her whole life maneuvering for this position and she ain't letting go.

It's a pissing contest between two committed Marxists, and the Godmother hasn't figured out yet that she's the Moustache Pete.

Their goals are the same.
