This is a high school, so don’t statutory rape laws apply, along with the age of consent?

What is the age of consent in New Mexico?

AF folks used to have a sense of humor about city of Clovis, when assigned there. There was little else to make them happy. The town was run (and I assume still so) by a group of 30 businessmen. They more or less are the “power” of the town in terms of who gets elected and what gets done. Clovis was not a retirement haven and I know of few if any AF folks who decided to stay there and retire.

Hmmmm... It appears that there is no statutory rape in New Mexico if the participants are of the same age... at least that is the first reading of the statutes as I understood them...

This stuff is going to overwhelm us, like a black plague, if we don’t fight back. It’s long past time that we put our foot down and started calling a spade a spade here. Daniel Patrick Moynihan was right. We’re defining deviancy down, and we’re too timid to do anything about it.

It’s too late, my friend. Not only have we defined deviancy down, we’ve allowed the deviants to label us as the deviants....WE ALLOWED IT. It’s all over but the crying.

Isn’t it a little late by the time this stuff hits the yearbook? If it’s in the yearbook, what do you think has been going on all year?

What’s the big deal with having gay students in a yearbook. Whether or not you agree with their life is a moot point; they are still students who attend the school.

I could understand people getting upset if the yearbook contained homosexual pictures which were pornographic in nature...but that just isn’t the case here.

I doubt anyone’s child is going to be like, “I want to be gay because I saw some ugly kids in a yearbook say it was alright.”

This only mildly annoys me because it is simply trying too hard to be PC.

You don’t see the problem with openly legitimizing homosexuality? And in a high school yearbook?

If you can’t even get that, I won’t even argue with you further. It’d be like talking to a rock.

hello... it’s a public school... who do you suppose goes to public school? people from the public... on the other hand, it’s so base to show teenagers talking about their boyfriends and girlfriends and how they love them in an educational institution’s yearbook... come on... show something academic... sports related... or classmanship... use the page to display student talent... ick to gay and straight teenagers talking about their love interests in a school yearbook...

Parents who love their children must do whatever it takes to keep them out of the government schools.

Openly legitimizing homosexuality?

Whether or not you agreee with homosexuality (I could care less one way or the other), the practice has been going on for several thousand years now.

And once again, they are students at this high school. Should they be kept out of the yearbook because they are gay?

Just because I don’t necessarily agree with something doesn’t mean I am going to tell anyone whether they can or cannot do it.

The big deal is that the practice of homosexual activity is wrong, period. This validates the practice of homosexuality. Why - exactly - is it a moot point whether someone agrees with it or not? This suggests that an opposing view point is invalid and seeks to truncate any discussion outside of accepting homosexuality, and that my FRiend is both invalid and the technique of liberals.

You obviously read a different article from the one I read, or at least reached very different conclusions about what's going on in the photos.

One girl is quoted as saying, "I adore my girlfriend. Megan is so beautiful and she likes me for who I am."

Why would anyone be offended by that?
