Oh, I agree with you there for sure.
When Billie asked me to post the Military threads because I was a Veteran, I jumped at.

Well, I am married to a vet, and have an active member of the service, so I am always interested in military posts.
....so...thanks! Glad you’re here for them!

I've thought about this country This fighting, the war Things that never really Concerned me before I've thought about our military their struggles, their lives And how hard it must be On their families, their wives The things they endure For us all to be free We take for granted Everyday, you and me They're without the ones That truly care But have a bond with their brothers That's beyond compare They watch their comrades Fall in vain Holding onto much more than just the pain They carry the scars of war each day With not many a thankyou along the way They stand with their backs Straight and tall at the door With no fear in their eyes When its again time to deplore Straight into battle, into the core Our Strong Brave Soldiers, of the Iraqi War.

I Stand Before You
I stand before you all today
But not one eye can see my way
My time arrived, to leave this earth
A fact so planned, to every birth
It happened where I had to go
My torch for life was so aglow
I transferred while in uniform
Protecting freedom, through a storm
Should I resent I died for you
Not on my life, red white and blue
Please help my family through each day
Tell all my friends, try not to stray
And of the country I did love
Do think of me, through God above
Your memories, brought forth this day
Send love to us, who could not stay

The following is an email exchange between Mr G and a colleague of his who lost his son in Iraq. It seemed appropriate to post it here. I have removed names to protect the privacy of our friend.
“Hello my friend,
Once again, (my wife) and I are thinking of your family and the sacrifices youve made on our behalf. We so appreciate our freedom, and know as best we can, that it is secured and protected by folks like you and your son. It seems so trite to only be able to say, thank you, but truly that is all I can offer.
Please accept our sincere kindest regards, and lift one of those really fine beverages, as we will.
All His best,
xxxx & yyyyyy
Let me tell you how much it means to us to hear you say it!
(my son) would, of course, laugh it off. He’s a Marine and he considered his sacrifice to be part of his obligation to others. What a mind-set for someone 26 years old in 2005, huh? I do not think that you can bring a kid up to have that kind of mind-set, I think they are born with it and I weep and rejoice in it.
I look at some of the stuff on street corners these days and can only conclude that those who would do us harm may have already won. Then I think of fine young men and women who put on “the suit” each morning and selflessly offer themselves for the rest of us and I give thanks.
Truly, there were only two who offered their lives for the rest of us, Jesus Christ and the kids in our military, Could that be why Christ understood the Centurion?
(my wife) and I want to share that there are no words to describe how much your thoughts and prayers mean to us. Thinking about people like you who are thinking about us is, I believe, truly coming close to touching God.
Bless you both!

Wow! You know sometimes saying Thank you says so much.
Thank you Grammy, excellent post.
I still wonder where so many come from that are so dedicated to the survival of this Country, then I sit and reflect and realize, it comes from how they were raised. From Patriots come Patriots, Love of God, Men and Country is something that instilled in us from birth. Children have to be raised in Faith and guidance from Godly Faithful parents, that is what made this Country great and we will keep it that way as long as there is one Patriot standing.
