~Memorial Day~ Flags today in tribute wave For those loyal ones who gave Of their youth, their hopes, their might For a cause they knew was right.
Morning bells sound their call, Pause and say a prayer for all-- All who served valiantly That men might be ever free.
Toll of bells, drums' slow beat-- Silence falls in every street. In each heart swells the plea: Keep us safe, but keep us free!

Thank you, I didn’t know that procedure.
Now I do and I have been doing my own Memorial Day remembrances for years.

Very nice posting, Dolly. You have every right to be proud of your dad and what he did with his life.

We do not have a Memorial Day in Britain but our Remembrance Day or Poppy Day is both your Memorial Day and Veteran's Day rolled into one. On the 11th of November on the 11th hour we have a minute silence and poppies are laid in Memorial Gardens and village/town memorials all over Britain. We have Memorial Gardens in Ashford and here are few photos I taken of them over the last few years.

*The Debt Unpayable*
What have I given, Bold sailor on the sea? In earth or heaven, That you should die for me?
What can I give, O soldier, leal and brave, Long as I live, To pay the life you gave?
What tithe or part Can I return to thee, O stricken heart, That thou shouldst break for me?
The wind of Death For you has slain lifes flowers, It withereth (God grant) all weeds in ours.
