World welcomes Obama win

LONDON (AP) -- Excitement about Barack Obama emerged as a global phenomenon Wednesday as commentators and citizens around the world welcomed the news that he had sealed the Democratic presidential nomination.

The excitement was less about Obama's foreign policies -- which remain vague on many fronts -- than a sense that the candidacy of a black American with relatives in Africa and childhood friends in Asia marks a historic moment.

Michael Cox, a professor of international relations at the London School of Economics, said Obama's win "has sent out a lot of positive signals around the world."

"He has a very appealing persona -- elegant, fluent, strings lots of sentences together into paragraphs," Cox said. "But in terms of (his) actual policies towards the Middle East, Iraq, Iran, China, Europe -- actually, we don't know."

In Kenya, home to Obama's family on his father's side, the Kenya Times newspaper devoted its front page to Obama's victory, under the headline "Obama makes history."

What the idiots don’t realize is that if we go down they will go down with us.

The socialists in their nations have been hoping for this day for 80 years.

They've wanted to tear down the "establishment" of Western Civilization since the Communist revolution. Some have wanted this revolt since the 1800s.

Recreating 1968 ISN'T just about Chicago. it is about Paris 1968 too. Certianly NOT Prague's rebuke of Communism.

I think we'd survive an Obama presidency. We just need to prepare for the probable consequences. I think a good rule of thumb would be to find out what the best barter currencies are in Zimbabwe are right now, and start stocking up before he takes office.

Property means nothing in Zimbabwe if your skin color is white:

Zimbabwe Crisis: White Farming Couple Beaten And Kicked Off Land (The Telegraph (UK) 6-4-2008 David Blair)

This type of hate crime doesn't exist in the eyes of the world press.

Great comparison. It is hard to watch though.

"He has a very appealing persona -- elegant, fluent, strings lots of sentences together into paragraphs," Cox said.

He forgot "clean and articulate."

I'm surprised he omitted "a credit to his race"

That’s ok, Northerners in the this country have seen themselves as superior regarding race relations for my entire life. They have been dead wrong the entire time.
I am from Mississippi and never experienced segregated neighborhoods until I moved to New York/New Jersey.
It’s easy to be an expert on race relations when no one’s pittbull is biting your kid, but that hasn’t prevented me from hearing how dumb, stupid, backward, and racist southerners are.

Cuba, which has a large mulatto and black population, is ruled by an elite group of whites. When was the last time you saw a black or mulatto Cuban official? I can say never. I learned that from a radical socialist black muslim I knew. I thought he would be a fan of Fidel and I found out he wasn't.

But of course, racism only exists in the U.S.

No no don’t believe that!
That’s only liberal Euros who hold the MSM in WESTERN/old/secularist Europe.Euro citizens have not a lot of information other than given by MSM...So they can really choose with a clear knowledge.

Actually i think that a growing majority of european people are upset by the multiculturalist PC bullshits(have a look on the last elections in Europe where the left is in a big mess and crisis )

You got that right. I have lived all over this Country. I'm amazed at how folks in the North think the South is so racist. I've seen much more segregation and heard the N word much more up North then in the South. I see more rebel flags where my wife is from in Ohio then were I currently reside in Louisiana. I can go on. It amazes me that it is taken as fact that the South is so racist. On the down to earth working class level blacks and whites get along far better here in the South then up North.

After careful consideration, our “good friends” in europe have selected the communist or the socialist. Where is the news here?

Almost godlike.

He was an average student, but very active

There's nothing average about walking on water.

"He would play ball during recess until he was dripping with sweat.

And every drop healed whoever it touched.
