Unlikely as laicization, which is a secular term not found in Canon Law, is a voluntary request on the part of the Priest. For the sake of his soul he should spend the remainder of his life in a monastery expiating his sins, isolated from the secular world. However, I personally hope that Pfleger will ultimately be dismissed from the clerical state and forced to fend for himself.
Is there no room for Michael Pfleger at Jeremiah Wright’s Inn?
Picture world’s smallest violin! Eat a rock, Pfleger!
And the "protestant revolution" isn't all that good anymore either. It's leading people away from the Gospel of Christ now, the "united gay church" (and trinity church) for example.
We don't need any more "protestant revolution". What we need is for those churches to return to the gospel, not do whatever feels good and accommidating to unrepentant sinners, and enviromentalism.
On 3 March, 1519, he wrote to Pope Leo X: "Before God and all his creatures, I bear testimony that I neither did desire, nor do desire to touch or by intrigue to undermine the authority of the Roman Church and that of your holiness."
Like I wrote earlier, do a comprehensive study of his published work and correspondence and you'll come to a different conclusion than the one you've already reached.

Obama's Trinity UCC is no more a typical "Protestant" church than Pfleger's Saint Sabina is a typical "Catholic" church, and I think you know that! Yes, some denominations such as the UMC, ELCA and others are heading in the wrong direction, but for every one of those, there are two that aren't.
You aren’t suggesting that some one treat him to a stake dinner, with a side of garlic potatoes are you?
Ordinarily, I would find it impossible for a Pflegermaus to set foot in a Sanctuary, but that would be to assume Saint Sabina’s is sacred holy ground.
Sacred yes, as in ‘sacred’ meaning ‘set aside’; and ‘holy ground’ meaning ‘decated to worship’: but, set aside for the worship of whom, how?
Try this for size:
Imani (born Emandu Wilcox) otherwise known as "Knumbskull #1", "Imani Wilcox" or "Uncle Imani", is a West Coast rapper who was one of the four founding members of the innovative hip hop group The Pharcyde. He is currently working with the remaining member Bootie Brown on new projects on their indie label 'Chapter One'.
Or, more to the point, considering both Pfleger's propensity for disembling, and the Calypso Louie & NOI connections, I found THIS:

iman
noun
(Islam) pious adherence to the faith; one who has the faith is a mu'min (believer).
Etymology: Arabic (ARchar, ÙÙÙ, ÙÙÙ) ("imÄn), faith, belief < (ARchar, ÙÙ) ("ímuna), to be faithful.
So...African? Perhaps USED in parts of Africa; but Arabic, used of 'pious Muslims'.
I was wondering if it might be an African Muslim word, but couldn’t find it right off, and Arabic and African dialects are mostly out of my league.
(But I did beat you to “Knumbskull #1,” in post 20.)
P.S. Evidently he told this idiot reporter that the dog’s name means “faith,” and that does suggest a connection with your Arabic find.
OTOH, what would a pious Muslim make of a guy who had a pet dog?
I did, after posting, read on down the thread, and saw your "Knumbskull #1" posting.
As to what a pious muslim would think about having a pet dog, he probably would take a very dim (and perhaps dull bladed) view of it.
OTOH, lot's of NOI types have "working dogs", usually of the pit type varieties. Even very pious Arabian Muslims have their salukis for desert hunting; and don't forget Afghan hounds, among others.
MadMo said it was okay to have working/hunting dogs, just so long as you starved & beat it treated it like a second-class slave woman & never let it in the house tent, and otherwise didn't treat it as a pet.
“Hopefully they will send him to Africa to do missionary work for the rest of his life.”
South Africa or Zimbabwe should do nicely. Just to see how the other half lives.
His dog has an African name? Sounds like that was his problem...far too much African, far too little American, absolutely no Catholicism.
As Nelson would say......Ha! Ha!
This guy does not belong in a church preaching his BS. Let him become a community activist like omama his pal.
Yes, he was in “Best in Show”. Michael McKean.

I see that he went on to have a long and fruitful career after retiring from his role as Lenny in “Laverne and Shirley”. Even some Broadway shows.
But I will always remember him in that first show, which was one of the funniest TV comedy series of all time.
