Thus, a flat tax, fair tax, etc., alone is the best system.

Oops...that should have read "NOT" the best system.

Good post and the RNC leadership needs replaced with strong Conservatives or this party might as well become the old Democratic party.

Today we're coming off an extended period of (perceived) consertative dominance. Many people view their problems as being caused by conservatism. They're ready for a backlash against conservatism.

Exactly. So if we're going to have liberalism in the White House, let's have it attached to a (D), so the backlash can come to the right afterwards, not further to the left!

I hope they're equally willing to take responsibility for the consequences when we are dealing for the next few decades with the problems caused by Obama as president, a filibuster-proof Senate, and perhaps four new liberal judges on the Supreme Court.

Wait a minute. Why should I be held responsible for the fact that most Republicans chose a liberal rather than a conservative? Why shouldn't we blame those who vote for McCain instead of a cosnervative?!?

I hope that those who vote for McCain instead of Barr are prepared to take responsibility for the big-government mess that results if either McCain or Obama win.

Seems like Conservative are ignored

Seems like it? Its a fact pal! Why do you think he is trying to hard for Democrap voters? He wouldn't have to even do this if he wasn't going to loose the Conservative vote big time. McCain knows that conservatives aren't buying his crap! He will not appoint conservative judges and will make President Bush look like Ronald Reagan when he's through!

I agree. Third Parties are not strong enough. But if people don't take a stand, they will remain weak. At some point, you need to recognize that nobody is listening to you.

I am not suggesting that we NOT hold our noses and vote for McCain...I am suggesting that we actually reward the Conservatives still fighting the good fight on the floors of the House and Senate by sending THEM our money.

Excellent!

I read many of these posts against this article and others, and sense defeatism setting in like rigomortis.

We’ll never have a chance in November if we have become stiffs by June.

Sufficiently pure?

How about being contaminated beyond any ability of reclamation?

" ... I hope they're equally willing to take responsibility for the consequences ... "

You pontificating types make me laugh.

If you took the entire FR membership and they all withheld voting for that pathetic RINO, it wouldn't be a drop in the electoral bucket.

Enjoy your chains ... they will be made of pure socialism.

Like I said, I will vote for McCain, but I am not sending money to him or the RNC. I know a lot of folks who used to send money to the RNC, but they are not doing it anymore. Most of these people say they stopped sending money when the border issue was hot.

So, I will vote, but get the money for your campaign from the guy who wants open borders.

"Oops...that should have read "NOT" the best system. "

I like your analysis. I do wonder if income and wealth can be joined unless, perhaps, there is also a kind of 'progressive tax' on wealth. Yes this does sound heretical but perhaps helpful to upward mobility to put wealth back into general circulation. Nevertheless, tax solutions may be of limited value if the leftward voter shift would be better addressed by private industry which was the vehicle used to create income/wealth disparity.

What is 'good for General Motors' is not what is good for the voter if the 'country' is now viewed as the 'world'. The corporation now belongs to the world but the voter belongs to the country. Maybe some remedial statesman will arrive with the wisdom of Solomon.

There are more RINOs then there are DINOs.

I would agree. It will be interesting to see what happens with those Republican seats that were recently lost to Dims who ran on Conservative positions.

Why stop with oil? Maybe we should conserve our land and import all our food. Maybe we should shut down all our extractive industries and live off the rest of the world’s bounty.

Some of Reagans speeches were presented on the Laura Ingraham show this week.

Totally breathtaking in substance and delivery. No wonder he won in landslides.

The GOP has entered into a liberal message and has jumped the shark.

It's not defeatism. It's realism -- accepting that the next four years are going to be BAD, no matter who wins in November.

> We’ll never have a chance in November

There's no chance now. The only way that will change by November is if both candidates get hit by meteorites, and we get a second chance at picking a real candidate.
