Now Hear This, Now Hear This.......American Conservatives Speaking
Col. Riley's Corner ^ | Col. Riley

Posted on 06/07/2008 6:52:20 AM PDT by do the dhue

TO: John McCain and the RNC,

Your latest solicitation for our money has a lot of “I want…” statements in it. Merely saying “I want…” does NOT impress me and won’t get the job done!

I would like to hear some “I WILL…” AND MEAN IT !

If you want our money, and our vote, then “WE WANT” some ACTION from the RNC and John McCain!

GET YOU HEAD OUT AND PAY ATTENTION…. WE ARE SERIOUS AMERICAN CITIZENS THAT VOTE!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that we WILL DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW, AND PAY LESS! The stupidity of sitting on trillions of cubic feet of our own natural gas and billions of barrels of our own oil while begging Arabs for more is beyond insanity! We want refineries, clean safe nuclear power, and STOP BURNING OUR FOOD FOR FUEL!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that the borders WILL be closed and NO illegals will get ANY amnesty or special consideration ahead of those waiting to enter legally!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that employers of illegals will be prosecuted. The illegals will go home on their own… and real wages for real Americans will rise!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that federal funding will be withdrawn from “sanctuary cities”…. immediately! I obey the federal laws… so should city officials… or defund and prosecute them.

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that ONLY strict constructionist federal and Supreme Court judges will be nominated, AND that they will be supported, in hearings! Abiding by our Constitution has worked to get us here… it will work for our future!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that NO new taxes bills will be signed!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that there will be NO carbon tax schemes and NO so called “global warming” or “climate change” agreements catering to the fear mongers claiming “man-made” climate change. The world climate has ALWAYS changed and puny mankind cannot control it! The facts, evidence, and tens of thousands of scientists, say it is a pure hoax, a lie, and a grab for money and power and it MUST be stopped before it destroys our economy!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that ALL earmarks will be vetoed!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that Social Security will be reformed and made solvent to end the illegal Ponzi scheme that will devastate the retirement of so many!

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment to oppose all forms of abortion, oppose same sex marriage, oppose civil unions of same sex couples, and support marriage as a union between one man and one woman.

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment to retain “under God” in our pledge of allegiance, our coins to retain “in God we trust”, and English declared the official single language of the United States.

We WANT an absolute, unequivocal, commitment that if United States security is threatened, before American military forces are committed, Congress will issue a “declaration of war”.

Newt is offering you a “Platform For America”! READ IT!

http://www.americansolutions.com/actioncenter/petitions/?Guid=bf4a5257-45e3-4a94-97fc-57e2d7ecb6f9

It is a comprehensive list of what the overwhelming majority of “Americans” have said we want! If you are smart, you will use it in a Republican Platform! It is a winner for you politicians and for we American citizens!

Also check out http://buchanan.org:80/blog/2008/06/pjb-bush’s-black-list/

When John McCain, and the RNC, make these strong commitments, we will again support Republicans with OUR money and our vote!

But, NOT UNTIL THEN… IT IS TOO IMPORTANT!!!

DO YOU HEAR US…. OR ARE YOU NOW DEAF TO REAL AMERICAN VALUES?

I receive Col Riley's news letter. I really liked this. Seems like Conservative are ignored and if the RNC and McCain want our vote and/or money, the RNC and others need to listen to us.

I hear you, but I also don't want to be taken for granted because I will vote against Hussein because I am afraid of the commie/Socialist. I want to be listened to by what I call MY party. I may vote for McCain, but McCain can get the money for his campaign from the people who want open borders and who don't want to drill our own oil.

“Contribute unless you want Obie in office.”

Sorry. The big, bad bogeyman approach isn’t working anymore. The socialism-lite of Sen. McCain is only marginally different from the radical socialism of Sen. Obama. While they may differ in their rhetoric, the final destination is still the same.

John McCain and the RNC doesn’t WANT the votes of the Conservatives or the Christian Right. They are depending on Hillary defectors from the Democrat Party to defeat Obama.
And they might do it, if enough conservatives sell out America and vote for him.

Well I definitely agree about slamming the borders shut. And he’s got to do what the American people want and that is what they want. Problem is, I think McCain will listen to the American people, while Obie will think he knows better than the American people, that is the extreme danger.

I agree with the majority of these demands.

However, I’d like to point out the difficulty from a political standpoint with implementing them.

In both the 2000 and 2004 elections the election was about as close as it could get. About 35% of the voters called themselves Republicans and about 35% Democrats.

Today about 42% of likely voters call themselves Democrats and about 32% Republicans. Democrats are jazzed and Republicans are demoralized. If McCain appeals largely to his base, he’s going to be clobbered. His base is just much smaller than Bush’s was.

McCain must appeal to the squishy middle if he is to win. Possibly these demands would accomplish that, but I’m not so sure.

Just because we believe firmly that we are in the right doesn’t necessarily mean most voters agree with us. Unfortunately, the number of votes is all that counts.

That is a true story, the Democrats have completely lost their way and did so years ago when they realized no one but goofballs listened to them and serious people didn’t respect them. That global warming is a complete crock and only a mentally deranged person would still ascribe to it or have the gall to try to convince anybody else to spend even one penny on it.

Of course, "DRILL HERE, DRILL NOW" is liberally expending our reserves, not conserving them, so perhaps you shouldn't use the term "conservative" to group them all.

"Conservative" would be to conserve our own, letting others blow through their oil reserves first, so we're the last ones with any easy-to-extract remaining.

I used to love the RNC. It used to champion all my causes. Now, the party seems to be leaving me. The party seems to think it should move left. Kinda like McCain. McCain always moved left. He never brought the left to the right. McCain needs to find a way to get me excited in order for me to send him money.

I hate it when I send money and then the politician goes off and does something left like. That just kills me. McCain is ignoring Conservatives for the most part (he did promise to put in justices like Alito and Roberts), but I agree with this premise of Col. Riley statements. We need conviction. We have heard promises during election year before and nowadays you need to be convicted to convince a lot of people.

And I want it to be known that I badword don't want a commie like Hussein in our White House. I am convicted to that. Because I am convicted to that, I don't want taken for granted of it. I am hearing pundits say that McCain should move to the left to pick up those Hillary voters. I am to the point that if we move one step closer to the left, I am going to badword walk away. I am not going to compromise my belief, principles, morals, or integrity anymore. Not towards the left, they never move towards me. Sometimes I think let them have it and mess it up even worse and we wil ltake it over in 2012. But then I think about the Soldier and Marine with their boots on the ground. If I were them, would I want McCain or Hussein? That will be what will get me to vote. But to get money from me, I need a reason to believe in why I am sending money. And to get me to believe in this party again, it needs to stop acting lick RINOs.

I am actually serious about the CNC and mentioned it the other day on another thread.

My fear is that alot of the good guys/gals(conservatives) are going to be hurt by the lack of money being raised by the RNC. They would probably not give the money to conservatives anyway because they look poised to rid the party of conservatism.

We should start a list/voting guide of conservatives up for re-election or running for office in this country and start sending our money straight to their campaigns, by-passing the RNC completely.

It’s just a thought.

Very well done and undoubtedly well received here on Free Rep. But the arrogance of McCain and his contempt/disdain for conservatives means that he sincerely believes that we will be forced, FORCED to donate to, work and vote for McCain lest we allow the possibility of a Marxist in the White House. He is depending upon this. For he clearly and quite accurately sees us as far more concerned about the future of our nation than he or his campaign... something I guarantee he perceives as a weakness IN US which he fully intends to exploit. And such breathtaking cynicism on the part of someone who is purportedly more concerned about the well-being of the US and its citizens than his own power and glory will neatly place another nail in the McCain campaign coffin. Settling for much, much less and hoping things will somehow work out better than we expect later on has become too disappointing. We have gotten the republican party we have voted for and consequently, the party we deserve.

I have thought about that before. I used to ask why we buy Arab oil and someone answered, so we burn theirs up before we burn ours up. But presently, only 3% comes from the ME (and that is from Kuwait and Iraq).

In any case, I think that if we just made it legal to drill, we would have more power to bargain with OPEC. We tell them that we are going to flood the market and make it 3 cents a gallon and I have a feeling they will find a way to pump more oil.

I want everything in the letter. Therefore, I don't want McCain.

For years I have had discussions at work and was able to get many to vote Republican. For these people the last straw was amnesty. They possess an emotional hatred for the pubbies that cannot even consider a reasoned argument. Everything they are against, is represented by BHO yet they support him anyway, b/c they don't trust the pubbies at all. And McCain was one of the leading causes of this problem. I have been a pubbie since 1964 and I am seriously considering voting for Bob Barr. Down ballot I will go pubbie. In the future I am considering running for office as a Libertarian. I am not the sharpest knife in the drawer nor do I have any knowledge about running a “campaign” however, anyone electing me can rest assured that I cannot be bought and I will work to defend and expand their liberty and freedom.

How can voters agree with us if they don't know what we stand for?!? Right now the Dems are the party that stands for something, so voters choose them rather than a party that stands for nothing, as is the current Republican party.

And what does McCain stand for?!? Standing for nothing because you're scared people won't like who you are is a great way to be marginalized and rejected. And that's what is happening to the GOP.

Agreed. And true conservatism doesn't do well, even in the Republican primary (the only way to come close is by throwing in some gratuitous red-meat nanny-statism and flag-waving...true small-government conservatism gets mocked).

But I urge everyone to go back and listen to some of President Reagan's speeches...even brief snippets will show how compelling a small-government message can be, if presented in the appropriate way and without sniping from the Faux Conservatives. Many young people have never heard the tenets of conservatism expressed.

Not true. It will take years to start seeing oil flow if we start now. Add to that estimates I've seen that show 2 trillion barrels of untouched oil....... enough to last us over 100 years! Conserving that much oil is foolish.
