John McCain begins the general election season with an eight-point advantage over Barack Obama in West Virginia. The first Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of this general election match-up shows McCain attracting 45% of the vote while Obama earns 37%.
Neither man is terribly popular in the state. McCain earns favorable reviews from 48% and unfavorable ratings from another 48%. The numbers for Obama are 40% favorable and 57% unfavorable. Those figures include 26% with a Very Unfavorable opinion of McCain and 35% with such a negative view of Obama.

Cheney’s inbreeding joke didn’t help matters any. Fortunately, it will be old news by November.
Good. Obama needs to be defeated.
All McCain has going for him is the ‘lesser of two evils’ vote, as his favor ability ratings regularly show.
I disagree. George Bush easily took WV both times (I believe), yet the election came down to Florida (2000) and Ohio (2004). Current polling, albeit early, have Obama ahead in Ohio (not to mention Colorado, New Mexico, and Iowa). A Flip of those states hands Obama the election.
And as my iron rule of unfavorable ratings goes (see KH vs Nelson, Oberweis vs. Nobody, etc) that you can't beat one unpopular politician when your unfavorables are even higher. McCain will win at least 10% ahead of the Messiah in WV. Might even reach 20% before its over, but I won't hold my breath.
Obama lost to Hillary among Democrats by 35+ points.
And we are to believe that he is only behind McCain, among all voters, by 8 points?
I don't think so.
PS....Cheney, keep your mouth shut!
Has anyone seen any published polls for Maryland?
Who is the 37% stupid enough to vote for hussein? Really, I don’t understand how he could win a single state.
“Has anyone seen any published polls for Maryland?”
I haven’t, but most people knowlegable about politics will know how such a poll would turn out.
We have elected the lesser of two evils in the eyes of the voters every time since 88, even if our side won. We are consistently voting against candidates, not for them.
I do not beleive those polls to be true from being here in Ohio and hearing what the democrats are saying. Once they get word of his support for gun control he will be toast here. I believe McCain will take Ohio easily. We have been gettting dailt McCain ads for about 4 weeks now in this area during the evening news, so he has already been busy in this area. They said that SE Ohio was the area that decided Ojio for Bush in 2004 and I think we might be in the same position this time.
Not *once* in 46 years have I [or anyone I know] ever been polled about politics.
I live in W.MD and I firmly believe they do NOT poll us so as to discourage us from voting at all.
If the average “hillbilly” sees that the polls present insurmountable odds, why even bother coming down off your mountain to cast a useless vote?
All our “polling data” originates from South Mountain, eastward.
Nobody wants to hear from The Dwellers of the Wastelands.
McCrazy is ahead in Michigan too.

I doubt Osama Obama will break 40% in the Nov election.

Tuesday, January 08, 2008 Email to a FriendAdvertisementThe latest Rasmussen Reports telephone survey of likely Maryland voters shows Senator Barack Obama leading John McCain 48% to 42%. However, McCain has a slight edge over Hillary Clinton, 45% to 43%.”
That poll is quite old but I see nothing newer.
That’s it! It’s over! McAmnesty wins! WV has an old out of date poll with McQueeg having an 8 point lead!
WOO HOO!
Any other incredible revelations? Or is this the last poll before the MSM kicks in and the 527’s unload their arsenals?
[Cheneys inbreeding joke didnt help matters any.]
What office is Cheney running for?
