Red Diaper Christians
Cross Action News ^ | 6-9-08 | Mark D. Tooley

Left-wing evangelist Tony Campolo, one of Bill Clinton’s post-Monica counselors, has declared that America’s ostensibly aggressive war policies against Muslims are inhibiting the spread of the Gospel. And he rather uncharitably lambasted American evangelicals who do not share his leftist perspective as “jingoistic” and motivated by oil “lust.”

That’s why its so scary. Its Christian socialism at its worst. And many youth (and adults) are falling for it big time.

When the real persecution of Christianity hits America, the average church will go from 300 to 15. These liberal “Christians” will be nowhere to be found.

Exactly!

The problem with ‘government charity’ is that the ‘middle man’ gets too big of a cut. True Altruism gives (aides) the person directly. Cutting a big check is only good until the money from that check runs out. It’s not sustainable.

Another aspect of direct charity, or even private indirect charity, is the accountability on the part of the receiver.

And again, this is another reason that libs prefer gov’t “charity” over private charity, as they don’t believe in any “judgement” of behavior choices, and accountability would be “judging” the lifestyle of the recipient.

Would someone please let Tony know that salvation is a work of the Holy Spirit which is as far as I can tell is nowhere related scripturallly to US foreign policy. This is just more of the soft, man-centered theology Camopolo specializes in.

Red Letter Christian, humbug, either you take the full counsel of God or none. You don’t pick and choose which parts to follow. These people drive me nuts.

I’m sure if we were just really really nice to the moslems they’d
become peaceful Christians. Yeah, right. Like that’s worked before.

People never seem to remember the REAL First Crusade.
When Islam swept west, grabbing something like 30,000 churches and
synagogue, and killing/enslaving/etc. of "infidels".

The above thought was mentioned by the late D. James Kennedy
(Coral Ridge).

I don’t forget that at all. The Byzantine Empire, exhausted by a long series of wars against Persians and barbarians, could not stop the sweep of Islam. The population, overtaxed by Byzantine bureaucrats, didn’t think the Empire worth fighting for.

Islam’s Third Crusade against Western civilization is taking advantage of the same fertile ground. (Islam’s 2nd Crusade was the Turkish surge through Constantinople & the Balkans).

Actually, it HAS. However, you are right, if we are just nice to Mozzie governments it will not help. We need to pressure Pakiland, Saudia etc. and tell them they have to let converts live.

The population, overtaxed by Byzantine bureaucrats, didn’t think the
Empire worth fighting for.

I wasn’t bright enough to understand the influence of taxation with
the rise of Islam until I read a book on the history of taxes
(amazon link below).
Just as you say, the overtaxation by the Byzantines, along with a
long-term “tax holiday” for converts to Islam sure was a great
marketing tool for The Religion of Peace.

Years ago I liked Campollo. Now he’s just a shill for the left. Red letter Christian, hardly.

Many have. That’s why God is raising a new breed of Christians, true born again, spirit filled believers who have a passion for God and His Word. It’s coming. Don’t give up.

But true Christians will prosper as they always have under persecution. They will meet in homes, house churches, caves, if they have to, but they will never die out. There is always a remnant of true believers.
