Apparently, the Chicago media have decided that the meme for the 2008 general election is going to be that anyone who doesn't vote for Barack Obama is a racist because this is the second editorial (that I've seen, anyway) in Chicago stating such a theory. Last week the Daily Herald voiced the assumption and this week it's the Sun-Times with the volatile Andrew Greeley taking up the cause of ridding the world of racism one Obama vote at a time.
Beginning with some meaningless banter where he throws around the names of a few Greek philosophers to sound erudite, Greeley then voices the fear that if Obama loses in November it might prove we are a racist country. "Sen. Barack Obama's victory, we are told by the cheering sections,"Greeley writes, "was a great victory for the American dream. Racism may well be in retreat... What if Obama is defeated? The whole world and most African Americans will scream 'racism!'" Greeley follows that with enough evidence for us to realize that he believes that the charge would be justified. He informs us that any vote against Obama has been thus far based on "bigotry," "racism," etc.

So it does not matter about a man’s policies or where he stands on issures it is the color of his skin that matters. I just hope enough Americans wake up in time.
You will learn not to cross the Hussein. Makes Hillary! look like the Church Lady in comparison.
Yup! We could see this one comin’.
It’s been like this from the get-go. Vote for Obamamma or you a racist pug.
Naaaah.
It IS racist to vote for Obama.
After all, Obama is easily the least qualified, least accomplished candidate ever to run for Presidency as the nominee of one of the major parties. No white guy, with Obama’s total lack of experience and naivete would even come close to being the nominee.
To vote for Obama would be to racist, because one would be voting for a guy solely based on his race, and not on his ability or accomplishments.
Down with racism! Vote against Obama!
More liberal backwards-think. Let me see if I have this right...
You’re racist if you don’t vote for someone based on the color of their skin, but NOT a racist if you vote for a black guy because, well, he’s a black guy.
Ouch. Now my head hurts. I HATE trying to think like THEM...
I think that this mantra will only backfire on the libs.
People resent being called a racist and I think that this resentment will only push folks who are undecided towards the side that is not belittling them as racist.
Look for the exit polls to show BO getting more votes than the actual vote count. Some who vote against him won’t even be willing to admit it to the pollster.
But the press will blame it on the evil GOP fiddling with the computers.
You watch.
I totally agree, and fortunately, the mush-heads in the media are way too stupid to figure that out. As much coddling as Obama gets from the media, they will be his ultimate undoing, thanks to their own warped brand of idiocy and transparent double-speak. Let them push their “racism!” charges all they want. It will only end up hurting their messiah.
>> “you must vote for Obama or you`re a racist” mantra isn`t even in high gear, yet.
I question how big an influence so-called “white guilt” is, outside of Manhattan, San Francisco, and Portland.
And even in those areas — unless you let the Nation of Islam monitor into the voting booth with you, who’s gonna know?
Tell you what, it’s of ZERO import around these parts. I’d love for someone to accuse me of being racist for not voting Obama. They’d get an earful. I don’t particularly care who they are, or where they are.
watch me,,,yogi!!!
[c. 1850] Greeley, Horace: “Go West, young man...”
[2008] Greeley, Andrew: “Go Left, yo’ “
I’m going to write letters to the editors of major newspapers stating:
I believe that the Obama candidacy has set race relations back by decades. I’m grateful to have heard anti-white rants by Wright and Flegler and watched their audiences’ enthusiastic response. Previously, I hadn’t realized how much black people hate me and didn’t know the dangers I face from them. Now that I know, I’ll go out of my way to avoid black tradespersons, doctors, lawyers, neighbors, and strangers on the bus.
As a “typical white woman,” I certainly will not vote for a man who categorically hates me.
This is not racism, as my ex was of mixed race. This is simply self-preservation.
Yours sincerely,
MY Real Name
Oh yes, Father Greeley, another priest who claims to be Roman Catholic but I guess has no problem with Obama’s support for legislation that leads to babies being killed. To Greeley and his ilk only Bush is truly evil because he wants to kill terrorists.
Friends, just call me a racist! I proudly wear the banner.
BINGO! I resent being called something I am most certainly not especially after seeing Rev. Wright’s words defended as being not racist.
Is it anti-Catholic to call Father Greeley a [bleep]ing idiot?
Ty-pical Liberal plague rat...saying the exact opposite of the truth. It’s allthe hard core racists and race profiteers, that are voting Obama.
I’M A RACIST. I’M A RACIST. HALLELUJAH, I’M A RACIST! I’m NOT voting for Obama. Not now, not never, not nohow.
