DCCC Chair Van Hollen Defends Not Drilling in ANWR on Misleading Claims

With gas prices topping $4 a gallon and the idea of tapping into oil under the Arctic National Wildlife Refuge or the Outer Continental Shelf becoming more popular, liberal members of Congress are changing the basis for their opposition to drilling.

Opposition to opening up new drilling has traditionally focused on environmental concerns, but the chairman of the Democratic Congressional Campaign Committee on June 15 accused oil companies of not using what they already have.

When CNN host Wolf Blitzer asked "why not start drilling" in more U.S. areas "that could dramatically increase supply and as a result reduce the price per barrel or the price at the pump?" Blitzer noted that House Speaker Nancy Pelosi (D-Calif.) "votes against every one of these drilling propositions."

I guess polar bears and caribou aren't winning the hearts and minds of people paying $4 a gallon at the pump for gas. New tactic.

Once the democrat controlled Congress penalizes the Oil Companies for their obscene windfall profits the price of gasoline will be certain to go down.....in CHINA!

Now wait just a minute..........

The liberals / radicals / Democrats / anarchists out there called Bush to task for different justifications about invading Iraq. They claimed that Bush jumped from the weapons of mass destruction explanation to ideas such as spreading democracy, and then to fight Al Qaeda in Iraq.

So, if we’re not allowed to offer varying reasons or justifications for the war in Iraq, why are we allowed to offer varying reasons or justifications not to drill oil somewhere? Why are they allowed to change the reasoning if the first reason didn’t persuade people? They don’t let Bush get away with that. Why are Dems. allowed to get away with that?

Sure they got leases they’re not using... BECAUSE THEY’RE TOUGHER TO DRILL & MORE EXPENSIVE. Dem’s want gasoline sky high... and if the get a windfall profits tax... they’ll make it scarce as well!

So...with the tree-hugger tactics beginning to stall, the LibTards and DhimmiRats are now switching tactics? I saw this late last week on FNC, some knee-jerk liberal (was it Lanny?) spouting about some 68 million acres in the continential US that are already under lease that could be drilled for domestic crude.

Well...OK, then. Let’s drill all of ‘em. That acreage, AND the coastal waters (before the Chinese get there, first), ANWR, ALL of ‘em.

That way, the DhimmiRats can help us get the red tape out of the way to allow more refinery capacity in the US, and more nuclear energy.

We have got to take back the country. These idjits are gonna kill us all.

“change the reasoning”? Blame this person, blame that person, blame this company, blame that company? When are we going to just shut up and get the job done and drill? We are letting them talk us to death while other countries make a fortune off of our money.

Here it is again. The answer to no drilling is “drill those dry holes again. Its the oil companies fault.”

Another, but not so creative manipulation by the Socialist/Democraps to divert the focus off of the balking Jackass.

I saw recently that the ANWR area is the size of the state of South Carolina.
The actual area that they propose drilling in is no bigger than the size of New York's Kennedy airport.

This is a fact that the MSM has NEVER delivered to the public.

It’s like putting a postage stamp on a football field, actually.

Funny, we never hear about that little fact in the MSM.

Why are they allowed to change the reasoning if the first reason didn’t persuade people? Because they are liberals. It is what they do..........

ANWAR is far more desolate wasteland that the worst football field you have ever seen.

McCain should be beating the heck out of this issue each day (it is a winner) and keep pounding the democrats for not allowing more US oil production. He should point out that democrats are the ones who have gotten us in the mess by not allowing drilling for the past 20 years.
