Its getting pretty bad. Check out kmov.com or ksdk.com and you can see some aerial photos. All the levees are breaking. There were 3 levees out at Winfield, MO that broke and thats about 15 minutes from my house. The new Whittaker development, New Town, off 370 is probably underwater or about to be.
Low volume ping list
FReepmail me to be on, or off, this list.
I flew over Iowa this week and it looked like about 1/3 of the land had water on it. Not good.
Burst, or blown up by Bush?
Oh, don’t be such an a$$. Farrakan’s mother ship crashed into it.
Whoa!! New Town — that’s going to hurt.
At least people had time to get out. Homes can be rebuilt.
Nah - it’s Karl Rove. He planned and executed it to perfection.
Have you read some freeper comments about living in a flood plane? You think they could make the case for moving out of the entire state of Iowa?<sarcasm>
Yepper, things ain't good there......BUT!!! At least the church where we were married is on the HIGH West side of #79. Old Monroe just south is getting bad too...everyones got their equipment and autos etc up on 'the hill'......Cousin says nothing like 93 though.....So that is good news......
Thanks for the update!
My DIL is from Iowa. I was telling her a few days ago about an article where someone posted (not a Freeper) that the flooding was their fault because they “farm” the land. She asked...where do people think food comes from?
Unwise indeed.
There is a sign on highway 370 traveling into St. Charles;
“There are only two kinds of levees: Those that have failed and those that will fail.”
1. Why aren't Hollywood celebrities holding telethons asking for help in Iowa, Missouri, and other states affected ?
2. Why isn't the media asking tough questions about why the Federal Government hasn't solved the problem?
3 .Why isn't the Federal Government relocating people to free hotels and handing out pre-paid credit cards to everyone like it was candy?
4. When will Spike Lee say the Federal Government blew up the levees that failed in Des Moines, Iowa and now in St. Charles, MO ?
5. Where are Sean Penn and The Dixie Chicks speaking out on behalf of all the flooding victims?
6. Where are all the people declaring that George Bush hates white, rural people?
7. How come in a month you will likely never hear about the Iowa/Missouri flooding ever again?
Hmmmmmmmmm! I wonder!
And by the way!
Just where the hell is Jessie in all this?
Where is that sanctimonious jerk Al?
Why arn't Whoraldo and pretty boy Shepard standing amongst the victims and crying on TV day and night bemoaning the tragedy that has affected so many thousands in the flooded areas?
A few more questions...
Why are there no murders being reported?
Why are there no rapes?
Why is there little to no looting?
Why are there no gangsters shooting at helicopters trying to help?
Why are the victims (gasp) pulling together and helping each other to overcome and survive this disaster?
Why?
According to the co-ordinates you posted. I’m 8.6 miles from the Elm Point breach.
I haven’t heard any stories about authorities running around confiscating privately owned weapons either. Curious?
Shouldn’t the bozos in the government be checking out to see how the Dutch (Mainly those brilliant Frisians) have managed to keep out the North Sea for a couple thousand years-—most of the country is below seal level.
And all those people - a mob really - that went to Holland last year on the govt (our) dime-—did they actually do anything when they got back? any follow through at all?

Everything you have asked I have been asking all week long.
Good thing there were pontoon boats conveniently located to come to the rescue.
I am wondering when Chesterfield Valley and the "world's largest strip mall" will be under water..... it's not a matter of if, but when.....
We are on the north side of O'Fallon and well above the flood. However, I was shocked at the amount of water I could see north of 370 this morning on the way into work, compared to what was visible last night on the way home.
/Still waiting for my FEMA card or check...
According to kmov.com, they closed a road 5.3 miles from my Apartment in Saint Charles.
Curious indeed!
I went to Sunset Park yesterday to see the valley from the bluff, I couldnt see much from there, but I saw a number of helicopters. While we are on the bluff between the Missouri and Mississipi-we are in our own flood hell. Because the back yard and common area behind us wouldnt drain for months, it backed up against the house and now a large part of the back wall and the entire master bathroom has to be replaced. The walls in the bathroom started to mold and rot so fast, that we dont even know how far into the subfloor we need to cut out. To replace all the subflooring and drywall will cost 2200.00, and our deductible is 1500.00. So flooding sucks for even those on high ground. But we can live with one bathroom for awhile-there are folks along the river who have nothing left..
Man have you got that right...pretty disgusting isn’t it.
You know I can excuse the sheep in Louisiana who for the most part have been dependent on the democratic massas of the south...but where exactly are the feds in all this? The billions that have been sent to the army corps of engineers over the years -— for what?
This tragedy falls squarely on those politicians and their appoitned bureacrats that the good people who have suffered through all this have elected and who have trusted with their lives.
Shamefui bureacrats...they should be shot.
As I drove into work this morning, I took the back roads going through Old Town St. Peters. A good portion of the farm land northeast of MO Highway 79 is flooded out. Highway C (continuation of Main St. in Old Town St. Peters) is closed and the agricultural area is flooded north of St. Peters proper.
Many houses along Salt River Rd. (in St. Peters and O'Fallon--aka Tom Ginnever/Pearl Dr.) have been fortified by sandbags.
Truman Blvd/Cave Springs Rd. in St. Charles and Northern St. Peters is closed from MO Highway 370.
If the flood victims had been blacks living on the government dole too stupid to get out of the way of the flood, you WOULD be hearing all of it. But as it is, the majority of victims are white and the media has decided that ONLY blacks are incompetent and cannot care for themselves so white victims of the flooding don’t count.
You think we’ll get answers? Naw, me neither. But I’ll keep asking just to make it stick in their craw.
I am on the north side of O’Fallon as well. Salt River Rd. was open this morning (suprisingly). However, all the farm land north of Salt River Rd. is flooded. It looks like a lake from the top of the Highway 79 overpass going into Old Town St. Peters.
Did you know that Katrina also affected Mississippi and Alabama and that another storm (Rita)came in after her, that caused damage in East Texas and a part of LA? People of all skin colors had damage. They got little media coverage. Might want to add that to your list of “whys”

How close to Gateway Int’l Raceway is the flooding??
Any danger of the track going under water...I have some friends headed down that way for the weekend....possibly.
Flyover country in a RED state, dominated by law abiding, America loving Republicans, considered by the left to be EEEVVIILL Republicans.
That’s excellent news about New Town. Let’s hear it for forward thinking.
Should be all right. Looks like GIR is on the Illinois side of the river.
I think it is more than skin color. IMO the victims must be dependent upon the government. Most people help themselves and there is no political hay to be made from that.
Excellent point. Added to list.
We are over to the west, behind St Dominic High School. If we go under, I'm building an ark cause the whole world is going under at that point!
I don't live in a floodplain; however, it does surprise me how close the water is to our home. We live near the ballpark and Ozzie Smith Sports Complex.
Realise you are joking, but that would affect darn near EVERY home roun these towns........Duck hunters, deer hunters are grown just like grass roun there.....
"Dang.. I recall just last March driving by the old 'Salt road'that the rain had darn near filled the side ditch and water was close to covering the road on the way to Arrowhead....Mighty low roun there....
Did you check out the Google map link I provided? In the upper right corner of the map is a “Terrain” link. It’ll give you an idea of what the terrain is like in your area. You’ll notice the land is higher up all along the south side of Hwy 79. You’ll also want to zoom in a bit.
Thanks for the info!
Yes. In fact, it was flooded not too long ago, in April and last month... those ditches overflowed onto Salt River Rd.
Louisiana is a red state too, genius.
