Officials in the Louisiana Secretary of State's office say a recall petition has been filed for Governor Bobby Jindal, making him the fifth elected official to face a recall attempt since the state legislature voted itself a payraise earlier this month.
For a recall election to be called, the signatures of one-third of all registered voters in the state must be collected. That would be a total of 960,285 voters. Ryan Fournier of Jefferson submitted the recall petition.
Other lawmakers facing recall attempts include House Speaker Jim Tucker (R-Terrytown), Rep. Steve Pugh (R-Ponchatoula), Rep. Joseph Lopinto (R-Metairie) and Rep. Franklin Foil (R-Baton Rouge). Signatures of one-third of all registered voters in their respective districts are required to force a recall election.
Jindal has indicated he will not veto the payraise, fearing a damaged relationship with the legislature.
The last Louisiana Governor to face a recall attempt was Kathleen Blanco shortly after the 2005 hurricanes. That effort was aborted before signatures could be collected.
Question 1: Probably all of 'em.
Question 2: Only GOP probably because its the Stupid Party eating their own again.
bump for later.

How Bobbys Wheels Came Off: The Prequel
Since my last post on this subject, I have confirmed from several sources some additional information about the deal that Gov. Bobby Jindal struck with lawmakers in connection with the much-maligned legislative pay raise. None of what follows conflicts with the facts as set forth in my last post, but it does shed some additional light on what happened and when.
Early in the session very early in the session several key lawmakers met face-to-face with Jindal to discuss the pay raise idea. They wanted to know up front if he was going to oppose it publicly or veto it, because if either scenario occurred they didnt want to waste time and political capital voting for a highly controversial measure, one they knew would draw voters ire, only to have him shoot it down. They reasoned correctly that they wanted Jindal to hang with them on this one, or else no one should hang at all.
In that meeting, which occurred in very late March or very early April, Jindal promised he would not oppose the raise but in return, he secured a promise that lawmakers would pass his voucher (scholarship) bill.
It should come as no surprise that the author of the pay raise bill, Sen. Ann Duplessis of eastern New Orleans, also authored the Senate version of the voucher bill. The author of the voucher bill that passed was state Rep. Austin Badon, also of eastern New Orleans, but Duplessis carried the water for both bills in the Senate.
My point here is that Jindal was in on the pay raise deal from the get-go. He did not, according to my sources, quibble over the size of it. His priority was the voucher bill, and he agreed to let lawmakers determine the size and timing in exchange for what he wanted.
Later, when the bill became hotter than anyone anticipated, Jindal apparently dispatched his chief of staff, Timmy Teepell, with a message that the governor would veto the raise because it was too big (at least, that was the official excuse). At that point, House Speaker Jim Tucker countered with a threat against Jindals reform agenda the voucher bill. Obviously, a whole lot of folks dont consider vouchers a reform, and its interesting that Jindal never fully identified which bills were being held hostage as a result of Tuckers threat.
The rest of my analysis remains the same: Jindal erred big time by sending Teepell to deliver the veto threat. He should have done that himself. Then again, maybe he sent Teepell in knowing he would be feeding his chief of staff to the lions as a trial balloon. Either way, it played out badly for Jindal.
Heres the kicker: Badons voucher bill cleared its last legislative hurdle on June 18, a day after Jindal announced he would not veto the pay raise.
They are only in session for 60 and 90 days alternately.
At 780 hours on the 90 day sessions, that would be over $21 an hour. LA doesn't have a full time, professional legislature like New York.
The left ain’t driving the train. We conservatives are. You can call it a circular firing squad if you want. We call it punishing politicians who went back on their word.
I’ve been wondering when this would happen,,,
IIRC there are 5 more packets out there,,,
This could very well pass with the number of cross-over
voters in the last election,,,
Bobby better pull the trigger on that VETO,,,QUICK!!!
I think Tucker is gone,,,80% of the folks in his area
seem to want him out from what I saw on Chad’s site,,,
Channel 3 should have this on at 5:00...
Really, so he has signed the bill? Sorry, until he plays the bill, we are knee jerking and falling right into what the left wants.
Amazing how many Kool-Aid drinkers there are on FR. You show them the evidence in black and white that Jindal’s a RINO and they never even slow up.
I suppose it is a blow when someone’s faith is shattered. They always turn on whoever delivers the bad news.
Well, they’ll get over it. They got no choice.
What's this "we" stuff? You don't live here in Louisiana. You can't sign the recall petition. But I can and will.
Actually, I own rental property in Shreveport and co-own a business there.
That's amazing. Why then is it taking you so long to figure out that Jindal's stabbed you in the back?

He has been the best governor Louisiana has had for decades. Is he perfect, no, but he is better than Louisiana has seen in a long time.
Jindal also has more balls than most other governors. When the Supreme Court said Louisiana couldn't execute child rapists, Jindal immediately signed a bill to have them chemically castrated.

Compared to Rick Perry here in Texas, and frankly, every other Governor, Jindal is a breath of fresh air. This pay raise crap seems petty compared to the complaints we have from real RINOs.
That's pretty much the story. It's amazing how many Republicans will eat any amount of excrement from RINOS just be able to go to a lawn party at the governor's mansion or have their congressman squire them around Capitol Hill.
Jindal should veto this but to me the larger issues are the 30 billion dollar Louisiana budget the Marxists/Democrats have built over the years.
It’s funny but I didn’t and don’t hear a peep about the 3 bilion dollars for a new public Hospital, Charity. This pay raise while I don’t agree with it is only 3 million total.
This is being driven by democrats in the media who are riling up even Republicans into “killing” their own Republican politicians. Jindal is a conservative who would have reduced the size of government like he passed 6 tax cuts already.
But you “republicans” are being led by Democrats and the Democrat media into getting out the torches for Jindal.
I see no Democrats are being recalled but only Republicans.
We have bigger issues out there like the price of oil and gas which is going to $5 soon. People don’t realize that the Democrat party has to be stopped so that companies can develop the U.S. energy sources like the trillion barrel of oil in oil shale. You instead of shrinking the Democrat party are shrinking the Republican party and are helping the Democrat party gain total dominance over a state, Louisiana.
I hope you enjoy riding a bicycle and living in the dark and starving because that is what the Democrat party is leading us to.
Well it ain't to us. It was the straw that broke the camel's back after the faux ethics reform and the backstabbing on the Stelly Tax rollback. This ain't going away, I hate to tell you.
You don't know what you're talking about. Jindal increased the state budget by a billion dollars. And he opposed the Stelly Tax rollback. It's all documented if you're not too lazy to research it.
