Unstamped certificate suggests Obama may not be "natural born" US citizen

The "birth certificate" claimed by the Barack Obama campaign is not certified as authentic and appears to be a photoshopped fake.

Janice Okubo, Director of Communications of the State of Hawaii Department of Health, told Israel Insider: "At this time there are no circumstances in which the State of Hawaii Department of Health would issue a birth certification or certification of live birth only electronically." And, she added, "In the State of Hawaii all certified copies of certificates of live birth have the embossed seal and registrar signature on the back of the document."

So if he were registered as being born in Hawaii, Barack Obama -- because only he or another member of his immediate family could by law request a "Certification of Live Birth" -- must have a certified paper copy, with embossed stamp and seal, or he could request one. But what his campaign has put forward as genuine, according to the senior spokesman in the relevant department of the State of Hawaii, is not in fact a certified copy. It is not valid.

The Obama campaign, however, continues to flaunt the unstamped, unsealed, uncertified document -- notably in very low resolution -- on its "Fight the Smears" website, with campaign officials vowing that it's authentic, sending the image around as "proof" to reporters, and inviting supporters to refer to it as they battle against supposed distortions and calumnies against their candidate. However, the campaign refuses to produce an authentic original birth certificate from the year of Obama's birth, or even a paper version with seal and signature of the "Certification of Live Birth." Nor has it even published an electronic copy with the requisite embossed seal and signature.

We already know that his parents were not legally married because his father was already married to a woman in Africa. She may have been married in some sort of civil ceremony, though. Obama says that he does not know whether they were ever married.

Wouldn’t he have been considered a citizen even if he was born in another country, if his mother was a citizen. I think that all she would have to do is apply for the citizenship. It would not really be much different than John McCain’s situation, being born in the canal zone.

We probably have as much chance of seeing a real copy of his birth certificate as seeing John Kerry’s full military record. Kerry refused to release his military records, and Hussein ObamaMessiaHamas, the Islamofacist Manchurian Candidate will probably not show his BC. Exactly. I’m a native born US citizen and I don’t have my original birth certificate—only the copy I ordered from the city. Doesn’t mean a thing—I’m sure most Americans are in the same boat. Of course, if Hawaii doesn’t have a record of it, that’s another story....

Not true - mothers are listed by maiden name even when they are legally married. The certificates for both my children are listed like this even though their mother and I were (and are) married at the time of birth

My childrens' birth certificates have a LOT more information on them than is shown on Obama's certificate. Could there be info on his real certificate that he wants to hide perhaps?

Was his name perhaps "Barry" at birth?

Could he have been listed as race "white" due to his mother's race?

Is his father's name perhaps not on the certificate since his parents were not legally married?

Was there perhaps a designation of religion on the certificate, and perhaps his is listed as "Muslim"?

Or how about this one (I am quoting from another source): Barack Obama is not legally a U.S. natural-born citizen according to the law on the books at the time of his birth, which falls between “December 24, 1952 to November 13, 1986″. Presidential office requires a natural-born citizen if the child was not born to two U.S. citizen parents, which of course is what exempts John McCain though he was born in the Panama Canal. US Law very clearly stipulates: “…If only one parent was a U.S. citizen at the time of your birth, that parent must have resided in the United States for at least ten years, at least five of which had to be after the age of 16.” Barack Obama’s father was not a U.S. citizen and Obama’s mother was only 18 when Obama was born, which means though she had been a U.S. citizen for 10 years, the mother fails the test for being so for at least 5 years **prior to** Barack Obama’s birth, but *after* age 16. It doesn’t matter *after* . In essence, she was not old enough to qualify her son for automatic U.S. citizenship.

Lumster, it is absolutely true. We lost my daughter’s birth certificate and I had to request a new one. It arrived, fresh off the printer from the state. Yes it was embossed but I scanned it so I had a digital record of it on my computer and the embossing DOES NOT SHOW UP.

To clarify, I realize people are not questioning his US Citizenry but whether or not he was a natural born US citizen. Guys, let it go. McCain was born in Panama (as was my sister, by the way)....this is the stuff that makes conservatives look like we wear tin foil hats.

If it’s legit, then fine. But this one is nonsense. I have a lot easier time buying into the guy’s Islamic upbringing or tearing into his Socialist ideas then this nonsense.

Admittedly there’s some tinfoil scattering throughout some of the speculation- but it’s still rather odd, and has yet to be thoroughly debunked (regardless of WHAT his official site says).

The fact that this keeps coming up means the necessary evidence to move on hasn't been presented. It's investigating things like this that make this board worthwhile. Keep searching until this issue is closed -- one way or the other.

Jim Geraghty (sp?) at Campaignspot has covered this extensively. He pointed out the unlikelihood of everyone in Obama’s life, including the candidate, consistently lying about his place of birth from the time he came to public notice. Odds are remote. Everyone agrees he was born in Hawaii. There are other aspects of a birth certificate that could be altered, however. I read somewhere—I can’t remember where—that his original name may have been Barack Muhammad Obama. Or that Barry may have been his given name, and he only took Barack later, when he wanted to more fully identify with either his black or Muslim origins. I don’t know. I’m just strongly inclined to believe he was born in Hawaii, but that this birth certificate may not tell the whole story.

Fred - people ARE questioning his citizenship. If he was born outside the US he is not eligible for the office. McCain is different because he was born on a US military base which is considered US soil.

All candidates for the presidency should be required to prove their eligibility. This is not a technicality but a basic constitutional question.

I dont’ understand why the campaign doesn’t simply provide a credible outfit with an original. Just put one right in someone’s hand with a certificate number on it and maybe an affidavit from the appropriate authority in Hawaii.

If it’s supposed to be some kind of effective distraction, it’s not. Everyone is all over the place looking into all sorts of things and no one is stuck on this to the exclusion of any other information.

I was under the impression that all "official" birth certificate copies MUST have the seal to be legal copies. When I got my passport a few years ago, they clearly made a point that I must present a birth certificate copy with the embossed seal to them and that a photo stat of the seal or one without a seal would NOT be acceptable.
