It was obvious from your posts that you didn't know. I think many people missed it because it happened during the holidays. It really broke my heart for Mr. Williams. I always enjoyed when he filled in for Rush, and his stories about his wife were just priceless!

I know this is off topic from the thread but I don't think my FRiend jazusamo will mind!
Here's the thread from 12-31-07 about Mrs. Williams.

Not only do I not mind but I welcome it, Jan. Thank for linking this and for your other posts.

I read about Mrs. Williams when it happened and was very saddened, it was evident there was much love in their marriage.

May she rest in peace and God bless them both.

BREAKING NEWS

.

There have been "reports" for weeks that there are many prominent conservatives who are supporting Obama and they have been named Obamacons.

After much internal investigation, FReepers ( name given to those who post on the conservative forum Free Republic) have confirmed that this report is an out and out lie.

One FReeper, who this writer has decided not to identify, has confirmed without any doubt, that

"NO conservative will ever vote for an America hating, baby killing, gun grabbing, tax raising, class envy promoting, racially dividing, military hating Marxist!"

.

There you go...FReepers have exposed the ENEMEDIA once again!

God Bless America!

Ah yes the logical argument that is reduced to name calling.

It is what less than bright people do when they cannot refute an argument. They call the guy they are debating names.

Abortion is always an issue in a campaign for the presidency. That is just as true as the fact a RINO won the Republican nomination for President this year.

Either McCain was the second choice of Thompson, Romney, and Huckabee supporters or they were all to dumb to see what was going to happen.

As winter wore on I kept wondering if Conservatives were smart enough to unite behind one candidate or were they dumb enough to stay split and let McCain win the nomination. We all know the answer to that .. don't we.

If you did not see this coming, then somthing is fried and it is not my tators.

How dumb do conservatives have to be to lose an election where they are 2/3 of the voters?

If you don't know the answer to that question ask John McCain. He can tell you.

Partly what is going on is that, in recent years, the Congressional Republicans in general — and Senator John McCain in particular — have so alienated so many conservatives that some of these conservatives are like a drowning man grasping at a straw.

Some people are fed up with Bush, others with the Congressional Republicans, and some can't stand McCain. I don't think many of them are going to vote for Obama, but a lot may stay home.

So far as I can tell, "Obamicans" and "Obamacons" aren't so much anti-McCain as against Bush. If you're beef is only with McCain, you'd be more likely to come around to supporting him.

Nor were elections set up in order to enable voters to vent their emotions or indulge their fantasies.

There is such a thing as "unintended consequences," as an economist should know. Look at elections from one angle, and emotional venting and indulging of fantasies are all over the place. As we approach election day, though, disaffected Republicans and conservatives will have had a good and close look at Obama and won't vote for him. Whether they'll vote for McCain is another matter.

So far this election looks something like 1992. If Perot -- or someone like him -- were in the running, McCain wouldn't have much of a chance.

These were your own words, spuddy. You just filled your own prescription:

"Ah yes ... the argument that is reduced to name calling. It is what less than bright people do when they cannot refute an argument." You spittle out 'dumb', too stupid', etc. and you think it just whistles past readers. Your contempt for conservatism is showing, spuddy. Calm down.

Do you have the link to that Dowd column on Obama’s funding? Please post it. ... Thanx.

I’ve been struggling with this for weeks now but I think I’m going to send McCain a donation too.

Thanks, Lou. That says it very succinctly. All Freepers who want to "teach the GOP a lesson" are risking the future of us all. I suspect them of ulterior, and not so respectable, motives.

Tossing out the liberal wing of GOP now would severely damage the country. On the other hand, do you think the liberal wing of the GOP will ever allow themselves to be removed without severely damaging the country? The cancer has already metastasized badly, and cutting it out now will likely kill the patients. But allowing it to grow further will make recovery even less likely.

Only that it was in the New York Times. I have requested a link from the person who sent it to me and will be glad to post it here should I receive one.

I agree with your observation but before we abandon the present system this close to the election we need to have already mobilized elsewhere. We need a strong conservative movement within the Republican Party if possible, outside it if not.

I look for Rush to lead an effort after the election even though he hasn’t said so. For now it is one more vote against instead of for someone.

You’re preaching to the choir. The bulk of those who tip the scales for socialism wouldn’t know what the word means and they certainly wouldn’t know what inherent virtue means and they probably have no idea who this W. Churchill guy is, they probaly think he is a baseball player.

I'm in a unique situation right now. Have been seeing vascular surgeons (legal immigrants from South America - one is for Obama), nurses and therapists nearly every day for almost 3 months. We discuss most everything, and I'm sure they would know the name Winston Churchill.

What thrilled me was their excitement about celebrating the 4th of July. It was special to them.

The other "choir" at the dog park doesn't need a lecture. Neither do our fellow Marine Corps League members. They are all conservatives.

Show me a conservative who's voting for Obama and I'll show you a phony, a moron, or an attention hound.

Those are the three options.

You left out the most obvious, racist.
